1 Sonra bütün kurul üyeleri kalkıp İsa'yı Pilatus'a götürdüler. 2 O'nu şöyle suçlamaya başladılar: ‹‹Bu adamın ulusumuzu yoldan saptırdığını gördük. Sezar'a vergi ödenmesine engel oluyor, kendisinin de Mesih, yani bir kral olduğunu söylüyor.›› 3 Pilatus İsa'ya, ‹‹Sen Yahudiler'in Kralı mısın?›› diye sordu. İsa, ‹‹Söylediğin gibidir›› yanıtını verdi. 4 Pilatus, başkâhinlerle halka, ‹‹Bu adamda hiçbir suç görmüyorum›› dedi. 5 Ama onlar üstelediler: ‹‹Yahudiye'nin her tarafında öğretisini yayarak halkı kışkırtıyor; Celile'den başlayıp ta buraya kadar geldi›› dediler. 6 Pilatus bunu duyunca, ‹‹Bu adam Celileli mi?›› diye sordu. 7 İsa'nın, Hirodes'in yönetimindeki bölgeden geldiğini öğrenince, kendisini o sırada Yeruşalim'de bulunan Hirodes'e gönderdi. 8 Hirodes İsa'yı görünce çok sevindi. O'na ilişkin haberleri duyduğu için çoktandır O'nu görmek istiyor, gerçekleştireceği bir belirtiye tanık olmayı umuyordu. 9 O'na birçok soru sordu, ama O hiç karşılık vermedi. 10 Orada duran başkâhinlerle din bilginleri, İsa'yı ağır bir dille suçladılar. 11 Hirodes de askerleriyle birlikte O'nu aşağılayıp alay etti. O'na gösterişli bir kaftan giydirip Pilatus'a geri gönderdi. 12 Bu olaydan önce birbirine düşman olan Hirodes'le Pilatus, o gün dost oldular. 



13-14 Pilatus, başkâhinleri, yöneticileri ve halkı toplayarak onlara, ‹‹Siz bu adamı bana, halkı saptırıyor diye getirdiniz›› dedi. ‹‹Oysa ben bu adamı sizin önünüzde sorguya çektim ve kendisinde öne sürdüğünüz suçlardan hiçbirini bulmadım. (Mat 19:1; Mat 27:15; Mar 15:6; Yu 18:39) 15 Hirodes de bulmamış olmalı ki, O'nu bize geri gönderdi. Görüyorsunuz, ölüm cezasını gerektiren hiçbir şey yapmadı. 16-17 Bu nedenle ben O'nu dövdürüp salıvereceğim.›› 18 Ama onlar hep bir ağızdan, ‹‹Yok et bu adamı, bize Barabba'yı salıver!›› diye bağırdılar. 19 Barabba, kentte çıkan bir ayaklanmaya katılmaktan ve adam öldürmekten hapse atılmıştı. 20 İsa'yı salıvermek isteyen Pilatus onlara yeniden seslendi. 21 Onlar ise, ‹‹O'nu çarmıha ger, çarmıha ger!›› diye bağrışıp durdular. 22 Pilatus üçüncü kez, ‹‹Bu adam ne kötülük yaptı ki?›› dedi. ‹‹Ölüm cezasını gerektirecek hiçbir suç bulmadım O'nda. Bu nedenle O'nu dövdürüp salıvereceğim.›› 23-24 Ne var ki onlar, yüksek sesle bağrışarak İsa'nın çarmıha gerilmesi için direttiler. Sonunda bağırışları baskın çıktı ve Pilatus, onların isteğinin yerine getirilmesine karar verdi. 25 İstedikleri kişiyi, ayaklanmaya katılmak ve adam öldürmekten hapse atılan kişiyi salıverdi. İsa'yı ise onların isteğine bıraktı. 



26 Askerler İsa'yı götürürken, kırdan gelmekte olan Simun adında Kireneli bir adamı yakaladılar, çarmıhı sırtına yükleyip İsa'nın arkasından yürüttüler. (Mat 27:32; Mar 15:21; Yu 19:17) 27 Büyük bir halk topluluğu da İsa'nın ardından gidiyordu. Aralarında İsa için dövünüp ağıt yakan kadınlar vardı. 28 İsa bu kadınlara dönerek, ‹‹Ey Yeruşalim kızları, benim için ağlamayın›› dedi. ‹‹Kendiniz ve çocuklarınız için ağlayın. 29 Çünkü öyle günler gelecek ki, ‹Kısır kadınlara, hiç doğurmamış rahimlere, emzirmemiş memelere ne mutlu!› diyecekler. 30 O zaman dağlara, ‹Üzerimize düşün!› ve tepelere, ‹Bizi örtün!› diyecekler. 31 Çünkü yaş ağaca böyle yaparlarsa, kuruya neler olacaktır?›› 32 İsa'yla birlikte idam edilmek üzere ayrıca iki suçlu da götürülüyordu. 33 Kafatası denilen yere vardıklarında İsa'yı, biri sağında öbürü solunda olmak üzere, iki suçluyla birlikte çarmıha gerdiler. 34 İsa, ‹‹Baba, onları bağışla›› dedi. ‹‹Çünkü ne yaptıklarını bilmiyorlar.›› O'nun giysilerini aralarında paylaşmak için kura çektiler. 35 Halk orada durmuş, olanları seyrediyordu. Yöneticiler İsa'yla alay ederek, ‹‹Başkalarını kurtardı; eğer Tanrı'nın Mesihi, Tanrı'nın seçtiği O ise, kendini de kurtarsın›› diyorlardı. 36-37 Askerler de yaklaşıp İsa'yla eğlendiler. O'na ekşi şarap sunarak, ‹‹Sen Yahudiler'in Kralı'ysan, kurtar kendini!›› dediler. 38 Başının üzerinde şu yafta vardı: 39 Çarmıha asılan suçlulardan biri, ‹‹Sen Mesih değil misin? Haydi, kendini de bizi de kurtar!›› diye küfür etti. 40 Ne var ki, öbür suçlu onu azarladı. ‹‹Sende Tanrı korkusu da mı yok?›› diye karşılık verdi. ‹‹Sen de aynı cezayı çekiyorsun. 41 Nitekim biz haklı olarak cezalandırılıyor, yaptıklarımızın karşılığını alıyoruz. Oysa bu adam hiçbir kötülük yapmadı.›› 42 Sonra, ‹‹Ey İsa, kendi egemenliğine girdiğinde beni an›› dedi. 43 İsa ona, ‹‹Sana doğrusunu söyleyeyim, sen bugün benimle birlikte cennette olacaksın›› dedi. 



44-45 Öğleyin on iki sularında güneş karardı, üçe kadar bütün ülkenin üzerine karanlık çöktü. Tapınaktaki perde ortasından yırtıldı. (Mat 27:45; Mar 15:33; Yu 19:28) 46 İsa yüksek sesle, ‹‹Baba, ruhumu ellerine bırakıyorum!›› diye seslendi. Bunu söyledikten sonra son nefesini verdi. 47 Olanları gören yüzbaşı, ‹‹Bu adam gerçekten doğru biriydi›› diyerek Tanrı'yı yüceltmeye başladı. 48 Olayı seyretmek için biriken halkın tümü olup bitenleri görünce göğüslerini döve döve geri döndüler. 49 Ama İsa'nın bütün tanıdıkları ve Celile'den O'nun ardından gelen kadınlar uzakta durmuş, olanları seyrediyorlardı. 



50 Yüksek Kurul üyelerinden Yusuf adında iyi ve doğru bir adam vardı. (Mat 27:57; Mar 15:42; Yu 19:38) 51 Bir Yahudi kenti olan Aramatya'dan olup Tanrı'nın Egemenliği'ni umutla bekleyen Yusuf, Kurul'un kararını ve eylemini onaylamamıştı. 52 Pilatus'a gidip İsa'nın cesedini istedi. 53 Cesedi çarmıhtan indirip keten beze sardı, hiç kimsenin konulmadığı, kayaya oyulmuş bir mezara yatırdı. 54 Hazırlık Günü'ydü ve Şabat Günü başlamak üzereydi. 55 İsa'yla birlikte Celile'den gelen kadınlar da Yusuf'un ardından giderek mezarı ve İsa'nın cesedinin oraya nasıl konulduğunu gördüler. 56 Evlerine dönerek baharat ve güzel kokulu yağlar hazırladılar. Ama Şabat Günü, Tanrı'nın buyruğu uyarınca dinlendiler.

1 Then the whole company of them arose and brought him before Pilate. (Mat 27:2; Mar 15:1; Yu 18:28) 2 And they began to accuse him, saying, “We found this man misleading our nation and forbidding us to give tribute to Caesar, and saying that he himself is Christ, a king.” (Luk 2:1; Luk 3:1; Luk 20:25; Luk 23:14; Yu 18:33; Yu 18:36; Yu 19:12; Elç 17:6; Elç 17:7; Elç 24:5) 3 And Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” And he answered him, “You have said so.” (Mat 2:2; Mat 27:11; Mar 15:2; Luk 22:70; Luk 23:37; Yu 18:39; Yu 19:3) 4 Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, “I find no guilt in this man.” (Mat 27:24; Luk 23:14; Luk 23:22; Yu 18:38; Yu 19:4; Yu 19:6; 1 Pe 2:22) 5 But they were urgent, saying, “He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, from Galilee even to this place.” (Mat 4:12; Mat 4:23; Mar 1:14; Luk 4:14; Yu 1:43; Yu 2:11) 



6 When Pilate heard this, he asked whether the man was a Galilean. 7 And when he learned that he belonged to Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him over to Herod, who was himself in Jerusalem at that time. (Luk 3:1) 8 When Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad, for he had long desired to see him, because he had heard about him, and he was hoping to see some sign done by him. (Mat 12:38; Mat 14:1; Mar 6:14; Luk 9:9) 9 So he questioned him at some length, but he made no answer. 10 The chief priests and the scribes stood by, vehemently accusing him. 11 And Herod with his soldiers treated him with contempt and mocked him. Then, arraying him in splendid clothing, he sent him back to Pilate. (Mat 27:28; Mar 9:12; Mar 15:17; Luk 18:32; Elç 4:11) 12 And Herod and Pilate became friends with each other that very day, for before this they had been at enmity with each other. (Mez 2:2; Elç 4:27) 13 Pilate then called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, (Luk 24:20) 14 and said to them, “You brought me this man as one who was misleading the people. And after examining him before you, behold, I did not find this man guilty of any of your charges against him. (Luk 23:2; Luk 23:4; Elç 3:13) 15 Neither did Herod, for he sent him back to us. Look, nothing deserving death has been done by him. (Luk 23:11) 16 I will therefore punish and release him.”[1] (Luk 23:22; Yu 19:1; Elç 5:40) 



18 But they all cried out together, “Away with this man, and release to us Barabbas”— (Mat 27:15; Mar 15:6; Yu 18:39; Yu 19:16; Elç 21:36; Elç 22:22) 19 a man who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection started in the city and for murder. (Elç 3:14) 20 Pilate addressed them once more, desiring to release Jesus, 21 but they kept shouting, “Crucify, crucify him!” 22 A third time he said to them, “Why? What evil has he done? I have found in him no guilt deserving death. I will therefore punish and release him.” (Luk 23:14; Luk 23:16; Luk 23:41; Yu 8:46) 23 But they were urgent, demanding with loud cries that he should be crucified. And their voices prevailed. 24 So Pilate decided that their demand should be granted. 25 He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, for whom they asked, but he delivered Jesus over to their will. (Luk 23:19; Yu 19:16) 



26 And as they led him away, they seized one Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, and laid on him the cross, to carry it behind Jesus. (Mat 27:32; Mar 15:21; Yu 19:17) 27 And there followed him a great multitude of the people and of women who were mourning and lamenting for him. (Mat 11:17; Luk 8:52) 28 But turning to them Jesus said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. 29 For behold, the days are coming when they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren and the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’ (Mat 24:19; Mar 13:17; Luk 17:22; Luk 21:23) 30 Then they will begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us,’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’ (Yşa 2:19; Hoş 10:8; Va 6:16) 31 For if they do these things when the wood is green, what will happen when it is dry?” (Özd 11:31; Hez 20:47; 1 Pe 4:17) 32 Two others, who were criminals, were led away to be put to death with him. (Mat 20:21; Mat 27:38; Mar 15:27; Yu 19:18) 33 And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. (Mat 27:33; Mar 15:22; Luk 23:32; Yu 19:17) 34 And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”[2] And they cast lots to divide his garments. (Mez 22:18; Yşa 53:12; Mat 5:44; Mat 27:35; Mar 10:38; Mar 15:24; Yu 19:23; Elç 3:17) 35 And the people stood by, watching, but the rulers scoffed at him, saying, “He saved others; let him save himself, if he is the Christ of God, his Chosen One!” (Mez 22:7; Mez 22:17; Yşa 42:1; Mat 1:17; Mat 12:18; Mat 26:53; Mat 27:41; Mar 15:31; Luk 4:3; Luk 4:9; Luk 4:23; Luk 9:20; Luk 9:35; Luk 16:14; Luk 24:20; Yu 10:18; 1 Pe 2:4) 36 The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine (Mez 69:21; Mat 27:48; Mar 15:36; Yu 19:29) 37 and saying, “If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!” (Luk 23:3; Luk 23:35) 38 There was also an inscription over him,[3] “This is the King of the Jews.” (Mat 27:37; Mar 15:26; Luk 23:37; Yu 19:19; Yu 19:21) 39 One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him,[4] saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” (Mat 27:39; Mat 27:44; Mar 15:32; Luk 23:35; Luk 23:37) 40 But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” (Mat 16:28) 43 And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” (2 Ko 12:3; Va 2:7) 



44 It was now about the sixth hour,[5] and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour,[6] (Mat 27:45; Mar 15:33; Yu 19:14) 45 while the sun’s light failed. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. (Çık 26:31; 2 Ta 3:14) 46 Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” And having said this he breathed his last. (Mez 31:5; Mat 27:50; Mar 15:37; Yu 10:18; Yu 19:30; Elç 7:59; 1 Pe 4:19) 47 Now when the centurion saw what had taken place, he praised God, saying, “Certainly this man was innocent!” (Mat 27:54; Mar 15:39; Luk 7:16) 48 And all the crowds that had assembled for this spectacle, when they saw what had taken place, returned home beating their breasts. (Luk 18:13) 49 And all his acquaintances and the women who had followed him from Galilee stood at a distance watching these things. (Mez 38:11; Mez 88:8; Luk 8:2; Luk 23:55; Yu 19:25) 



50 Now there was a man named Joseph, from the Jewish town of Arimathea. He was a member of the council, a good and righteous man, (Mat 27:57; Mar 15:42; Yu 19:38) 51 who had not consented to their decision and action; and he was looking for the kingdom of God. (Luk 2:25; Luk 2:38) 52 This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. 53 Then he took it down and wrapped it in a linen shroud and laid him in a tomb cut in stone, where no one had ever yet been laid. (Yşa 53:9; Mar 11:2) 54 It was the day of Preparation, and the Sabbath was beginning.[7] (Mat 27:62) 55 The women who had come with him from Galilee followed and saw the tomb and how his body was laid. (Mat 28:1; Luk 23:49) 56 Then they returned and prepared spices and ointments. On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment. (Çık 20:10; Yas 5:14; Mar 16:1; Luk 24:1; Yu 19:39)
