1 مَنْ يُحِبُّ التَّأْدِيبَ يُحِبُّ الْمَعْرِفَةَ، وَمَنْ يَمْقُتُ التَّأْنِيبَ غَبِيٌّ. 2 الصَّالِحُ يَحْظَى بِرِضَى الرَّبِّ، وَرَجُلُ الْمَكَائِدِ يَسْتَجْلِبُ قَضَاءَهُ. 3 لَا يَثْبُتُ الإِنْسَانُ بِالشَّرِّ، أَمَّا أَصْلُ الصِّدِّيقِ فَلا يَتَزَعْزَعُ. 4 الْمَرْأَةُ الْفَاضِلَةُ تَاجٌ لِزَوْجِهَا، أَمَّا جَالِبَةُ الْخِزْيِ فَكَنَخْرٍ فِي عِظَامِهِ. 5 مَقَاصِدُ الصِّدِّيقِ شَرِيفَةٌ، وَتَدَابِيرُ الشِّرِّيرِ غَادِرَةٌ. 6 كَلامُ الأَشْرَارِ يَتَرَبَّصُ لِسَفْكِ الدَّمِ، وَأَقْوَالُ الْمُسْتَقِيمِينَ تَسْعَى لِلإِنْقَاذِ. 7 مَصِيرُ الأَشْرَارِ الانْهِيَارُ وَالتَّلاشِي، أَمَّا صَرْحُ الصِّدِّيقِينَ فَيَثْبُتُ رَاسِخاً. 8 يُحْمَدُ الْمَرْءُ لِتَعَقُّلِهِ، وَيُزْدَرَى ذُو الْقَلْبِ الْمُلْتَوِي. 9 الْحَقِيرُ الْكَادِحُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْمُتَعَاظِمِ الْمُفْتَقِرِ لِلُقْمَةِ الْخُبْزِ. 10 الصِّدِّيقُ يُرَاعِي نَفْسَ بَهِيمَتِهِ، أَمَّا الشِّرِّيرُ فَأَرَقُّ مَرَاحِمِهِ تَتَّسِمُ بِالْقَسْوَةِ. 11 مَنْ يُفْلِحْ أَرْضَهُ، تَكْثُرْ غَلَّةُ خُبْزِهِ، وَمَنْ يُلاحِقُ الأَوْهَامَ فَهُوَ أَحْمَقُ. 12 يَشْتَهِي الشِّرِّيرُ مَنَاهِبَ الإِثْمِ، أَمَّا الصِّدِّيقُ فَيَزْدَهِرُ. 13 يَقَعُ الشِّرِّيرُ فِي فَخِّ أَكَاذِيبِ لِسَانِهِ، أَمَّا الصِّدِّيقُ فَيُفْلِتُ مِنَ الضِّيقِ. 14 مِنْ ثَمَرِ صِدْقِ أَقْوَالِهِ يَشْبَعُ الإِنْسَانُ خَيْراً، كَمَا تُرَدُّ لَهُ ثِمَارُ أَعْمَالِ يَدَيْهِ. 15 يَبْدُو سَبِيلُ الأَحْمَقِ صَالِحاً فِي عَيْنَيْهِ، أَمَّا الْحَكِيمُ فَيَسْتَمِعُ إِلَى الْمَشُورَةِ. 16 يُبْدِي الأَحْمَقُ غَيْظَهُ فِي لَحْظَةٍ، أَمَّا الْعَاقِلُ فَيَتَجَاهَلُ الإِهَانَةَ. 17 مَنْ يَنْطِقْ بِالصِّدْقِ يَشْهَدْ بِالْحَقِّ، أَمَّا شَاهِدُ الزُّورِ فَيَتَكَلَّمُ بِالْكَذِبِ. 18 رُبَّ مِهْذَارٍ تَنْفُذُ كَلِمَاتُهُ كَطَعْنَاتِ السَّيْفِ، وَفِي أَقْوَالِ فَمِ الْحُكَمَاءِ شِفَاءٌ. 19 أَقْوَالُ الشِّفَاهِ الصَّادِقَةِ تَدُومُ إِلَى الأَبَدِ، أَمَّا أَكَاذِيبُ لِسَانِ الزُّورِ فَتَنْفَضِحُ فِي لَحْظَةٍ. 20 يَكْمُنُ الْغِشُّ فِي قُلُوبِ مُدَبِّرِي الشَّرِّ، أَمَّا الْفَرَحُ فَيَمْلأُ صُدُورَ السَّاعِينَ إِلَى السَّلامِ. 21 لَا يُصِيبُ الصِّدِّيقَ سُوءٌ، أَمَّا الأَشْرَارُ فَيَحِيقُ بِهِمُ الأَذَى. 22 الشِّفَاهُ الْكَاذِبَةُ رِجْسٌ لَدَى الرَّبِّ، وَمَسَرَّتُهُ بِالْعَامِلِينَ بِالصِّدْقِ. 23 الْعَاقِلُ يَحْتَفِظُ بِعِلْمِهِ، وَقُلُوبُ الْجُهَّالِ تَفْضَحُ مَا فِيهَا مِنْ سَفَاهَةٍ. 24 ذُو الْيَدِ الْمُجْتَهِدَةِ يَسُودُ، وَالْكَسُولُ ذُو الْيَدِ الْمُرْتَخِيَةِ يَخْدُمُ تَحْتَ الْجِزْيَةِ. 25 الْقَلْبُ الْقَلِقُ الْجَزِعُ يُوْهِنُ الإِنْسَانَ، وَالْكَلِمَةُ الطَّيِّبَةُ تُفَرِّحُهُ. 26 الصِّدِّيقُ يَهْدِي صَاحِبَهُ، أَمَّا طَرِيقُ الأَشْرَارِ فَتُضِلُّهُ. 27 الْمُتَقَاعِسُ لَا يَحْظَى بِصَيْدٍ، وَأَثْمَنُ مَا لَدَى الإِنْسَانِ هُوَ اجْتِهَادُهُ. 28 سَبِيلُ الْبِرِّ يُفْضِي إِلَى الْحَيَاةِ، وَفِي طَرِيقِهِ خُلُودٌ.

English Standard Version

1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid. (مز 49:10; أم 5:12; أم 15:10) 2 A good man obtains favor from the Lord, but a man of evil devices he condemns. (أم 8:35) 3 No one is established by wickedness, but the root of the righteous will never be moved. 5 The thoughts of the righteous are just; the counsels of the wicked are deceitful. (مت 12:35) 6 The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the mouth of the upright delivers them. 8 A man is commended according to his good sense, but one of twisted mind is despised. (1صم 20:30) 9 Better to be lowly and have a servant than to play the great man and lack bread. 10 Whoever is righteous has regard for the life of his beast, but the mercy of the wicked is cruel. (تث 25:4) 11 Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits lacks sense. (قض 9:4; أم 20:13; أم 28:19) 12 Whoever is wicked covets the spoil of evildoers, but the root of the righteous bears fruit. 15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice. (أم 3:7; أم 14:12; أم 16:2; أم 16:25; أم 21:2; أم 26:12)

16 The vexation of a fool is known at once, but the prudent ignores an insult. (أم 14:33; أم 29:11) 17 Whoever speaks^[2] the truth gives honest evidence, but a false witness utters deceit. (أم 6:19; أم 14:5) 18 There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. (مز 57:4; أم 4:22) 19 Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment. (مز 52:4; أم 19:9) 20 Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, but those who plan peace have joy. 23 A prudent man conceals knowledge, but the heart of fools proclaims folly. (أم 13:16; أم 15:2) 24 The hand of the diligent will rule, while the slothful will be put to forced labor. (تك 49:15; 1مل 9:21; أم 10:4; أم 13:4)

25 Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad. (أم 15:13; أم 17:22) 26 One who is righteous is a guide to his neighbor,^[3] but the way of the wicked leads them astray. 27 Whoever is slothful will not roast his game, but the diligent man will get precious wealth.^[4] (أم 12:24) 28 In the path of righteousness is life, and in its pathway there is no death. (أم 10:2)
