Psalm 20

1 To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob protect you! (Ge 35:3; Ps 59:1; Ps 69:29; Pr 18:10) 2 May he send you help from the sanctuary and give you support from Zion! (2Ch 20:8; Ps 73:17; Ps 128:5) 3 May he remember all your offerings and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices! (Ac 10:4) 4 May he grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans! (Ps 21:2) 5 May we shout for joy over your salvation, and in the name of our God set up our banners! May the Lord fulfill all your petitions! (Ps 9:14; Ps 60:4; So 6:4; So 6:10) 6 Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed; he will answer him from his holy heaven with the saving might of his right hand. (Ps 28:8) 7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. (1Sa 17:45; 2Ch 32:8; Pr 21:31; Isa 31:1; Isa 36:9) 8 They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand upright. 9 O Lord, save the king! May he answer us when we call. (Ps 48:2)

1 Für den Dirigenten[1]. Ein Psalm Davids. (Ps 4:1) 2 Der HERR erhöre dich, wenn du in Not zu ihm rufst, der Name des Gottes Jakobs schütze dich. 3 Er sende dir Hilfe aus dem Heiligtum, von Zion aus gebe er dir Beistand. 4 Er schätze alle Opfergaben, die du ihm gebracht hast, dein Brandopfer nehme er gerne an. //[2] (Ps 3:3) 5 Er gebe dir, wonach du dich von Herzen sehnst, und führe alle deine Pläne zum Ziel. 6 Wir wollen laut über deine Rettung jubeln, und im Namen unseres Gottes wollen wir das Banner aufrichten. Der HERR erfülle dir alle deine Bitten! 7 Jetzt weiß ich, dass der HERR seinem gesalbten König[3] den Sieg gibt! Von seinem heiligen Himmel her wird er ihn erhören, durch mächtige Taten[4] wird er ihm Rettung bringen. (Ps 2:2) 8 Unsere Gegner verlassen sich auf Kampfwagen und Pferde, wir aber preisen den Namen des HERRN, unseres Gottes.[5] 9 Unsere Feinde stürzen und fallen zu Boden, wir aber stehen aufrecht als Sieger da. 10 HERR, hilf uns! Er, der höchste König, wird uns erhören[6] noch am selben Tag, an dem wir zu ihm rufen!
