1 Bundan sonra İsa, Celile -Taberiye- Gölü'nün karşı yakasına geçti. 2 Ardından büyük bir kalabalık gidiyordu. Çünkü hastalar üzerinde yaptığı mucizeleri görmüşlerdi. 3 İsa dağa çıkıp orada öğrencileriyle birlikte oturdu. 4 Yahudiler'in Fısıh Bayramı yakındı. 5 İsa başını kaldırıp büyük bir kalabalığın kendisine doğru geldiğini görünce Filipus'a, ‹‹Bunları doyurmak için nereden ekmek alalım?›› diye sordu. 6 Bu sözü onu denemek için söyledi, aslında kendisi ne yapacağını biliyordu. 7 Filipus O'na şu yanıtı verdi: ‹‹Her birinin bir lokma yiyebilmesi için iki yüz dinarlık ekmek bile yetmez.›› 8-9 Öğrencilerinden biri, Simun Petrus'un kardeşi Andreas, İsa'ya dedi ki, ‹‹Burada beş arpa ekmeğiyle iki balığı olan bir çocuk var. Ama bu kadar adam için bunlar nedir ki?›› 10 İsa, ‹‹Halkı yere oturtun›› dedi. Orası çayırlıktı. Böylece halk yere oturdu. Yaklaşık beş bin erkek vardı. 11 İsa ekmekleri aldı, şükrettikten sonra oturanlara dağıttı. Yedikleri beş arpa ekmeğinden artakalan parçalarla on iki sepet doldurdular. 14 Halk, İsa'nın yaptığı mucizeyi görünce, ‹‹Gerçekten dünyaya gelecek olan peygamber budur›› dedi. 15 İsa onların gelip kendisini kral yapmak üzere zorla götüreceklerini bildiğinden tek başına yine dağa çekildi. 



16 Akşam olunca öğrencileri göle indiler. (Mat 14:22; Mar 6:45) 17 Bir tekneye binerek gölün karşı yakasındaki Kefarnahum'a doğru yol aldılar. Karanlık basmış, İsa henüz yanlarına gelmemişti. 18 Güçlü bir rüzgar estiğinden göl kabarmaya başladı. 19 Öğrenciler üç mil kadar kürek çektikten sonra, İsa'nın gölün üstünde yürüyerek tekneye yaklaştığını görünce korktular. 20 Ama İsa, ‹‹Korkmayın, benim!›› dedi. 21 Bunun üzerine O'nu tekneye almak istediler. O anda tekne gidecekleri kıyıya ulaştı. 22 Ertesi gün, gölün karşı yakasında kalan halk, önceden orada sadece bir tek tekne bulunduğunu, İsa'nın kendi öğrencileriyle birlikte bu tekneye binmediğini, öğrencilerinin yalnız gittiklerini anladı. 23 Rab'bin şükretmesinden sonra halkın ekmek yediği yerin yakınına Taberiye'den başka tekneler geldi. 24 Halk, İsa'nın ve öğrencilerinin orada olmadığını görünce teknelere binerek Kefarnahum'a, İsa'yı aramaya gitti. 25 O'nu gölün karşı yakasında buldukları zaman, ‹‹Rabbî, buraya ne zaman geldin?›› diye sordular. 



26 İsa şöyle yanıt verdi: ‹‹Size doğrusunu söyleyeyim, doğaüstü belirtiler gördüğünüz için değil, ekmeklerden yiyip doyduğunuz için beni arıyorsunuz. 27 Geçici yiyecek için değil, sonsuz yaşam boyunca kalıcı yiyecek için çalışın. Bunu size İnsanoğlu verecek. Çünkü Baba Tanrı O'na bu onayı vermiştir.›› 28 Onlar da şunu sordular: ‹‹Tanrı'nın istediği işleri yapmak için ne yapmalıyız?›› 29 İsa, ‹‹Tanrı'nın işi O'nun gönderdiği kişiye iman etmenizdir›› diye yanıt verdi. 30 Bunun üzerine, ‹‹Görüp sana iman etmemiz için nasıl bir belirti gerçekleştireceksin? Ne yapacaksın?›› dediler. 31 ‹‹Atalarımız çölde man yediler. Yazılmış olduğu gibi, ‹Yemeleri için onlara gökten ekmek verdi.› ›› 32 İsa onlara dedi ki, ‹‹Size doğrusunu söyleyeyim, gökten ekmeği size Musa vermedi, gökten size gerçek ekmeği Babam verir. 33 Çünkü Tanrı'nın ekmeği, gökten inen ve dünyaya yaşam verendir.›› 34 Onlar da, ‹‹Efendimiz, bizlere her zaman bu ekmeği ver!›› dediler. 35 İsa, ‹‹Yaşam ekmeği Ben'im. Bana gelen asla acıkmaz, bana iman eden hiçbir zaman susamaz›› dedi. 36 ‹‹Ama ben size dedim ki, ‹Beni gördünüz, yine de iman etmiyorsunuz.› 37 Baba'nın bana verdiklerinin hepsi bana gelecek ve bana geleni asla kovmam. 38 Çünkü kendi isteğimi değil, beni gönderenin isteğini yerine getirmek için gökten indim. 39 Beni gönderenin isteği, bana verdiklerinden hiçbirini yitirmemem, son gün hepsini diriltmemdir. 40 Çünkü Babam'ın isteği, Oğul'u gören ve O'na iman eden herkesin sonsuz yaşama kavuşmasıdır. Ben de böylelerini son günde dirilteceğim.›› 41 ‹‹Gökten inmiş olan ekmek Ben'im›› dediği için Yahudiler O'na karşı söylenmeye başladılar. 42 ‹‹Yusuf oğlu İsa değil mi bu?›› diyorlardı. ‹‹Annesini de, babasını da tanıyoruz. Şimdi nasıl oluyor da, ‹Gökten indim› diyor?›› 43 İsa, ‹‹Aranızda söylenmeyin›› dedi. 44 ‹‹Beni gönderen Baba bir kimseyi bana çekmedikçe, o kimse bana gelemez. Bana geleni de son günde dirilteceğim. 45 Peygamberlerin yazdığı gibi, ‹Tanrı onların hepsine kendi yollarını öğretecektir.› Baba'yı işiten ve O'ndan öğrenen herkes bana gelir. 46 Bu, bir kimsenin Baba'yı gördüğü anlamına gelmez. Baba'yı sadece Tanrı'dan gelen görmüştür. 47 Size doğrusunu söyleyeyim, iman edenin sonsuz yaşamı vardır. 48 Yaşam ekmeği Ben'im. (Mat 14:13; Mar 6:30; Luk 9:10) 49 Atalarınız çölde man yediler, yine de öldüler. 50 Gökten inen öyle bir ekmek var ki, ondan yiyen ölmeyecek. 51 Gökten inmiş olan diri ekmek Ben'im. Bu ekmekten yiyen sonsuza dek yaşayacak. Dünyanın yaşamı uğruna vereceğim ekmek de benim bedenimdir.›› 52 Bunun üzerine Yahudiler, ‹‹Bu adam yememiz için bedenini bize nasıl verebilir?›› diyerek birbirleriyle çekişmeye başladılar. 53 İsa onlara şöyle dedi: ‹‹Size doğrusunu söyleyeyim, İnsanoğlu'nun bedenini yiyip kanını içmedikçe, sizde yaşam olmaz. 54 Bedenimi yiyenin, kanımı içenin sonsuz yaşamı vardır ve ben onu son günde dirilteceğim. 55 Çünkü bedenim gerçek yiyecek, kanım gerçek içecektir. 56 Bedenimi yiyip kanımı içen bende yaşar, ben de onda. 57 Yaşayan Baba beni gönderdiği ve ben Baba'nın aracılığıyla yaşadığım gibi, bedenimi yiyen de benim aracılığımla yaşayacak. 58 İşte gökten inmiş olan ekmek budur. Atalarınızın yedikleri man gibi değildir. Atalarınız öldüler. Oysa bu ekmeği yiyen sonsuza dek yaşar.›› 59 İsa bu sözleri Kefarnahum'da havrada öğretirken söyledi. 



60 Öğrencilerinin birçoğu bunu işitince, ‹‹Bu söz çok çetin, kim kabul edebilir?›› dediler. 61 Öğrencilerinin buna karşı söylendiğini anlayan İsa, ‹‹Bu sizi şaşırtıyor mu?›› dedi. 62 ‹‹Ya İnsanoğlu'nun önceden bulunduğu yere yükseldiğini görürseniz...? 63 Yaşam veren Ruh'tur. Beden bir yarar sağlamaz. Sizlere söylediğim sözler ruhtur, yaşamdır. 64 Yine de aranızda iman etmeyenler var.›› İsa iman etmeyenlerin ve kendisine ihanet edecek kişinin kim olduğunu baştan beri biliyordu. 65 ‹‹Sizlere, ‹Baba'nın bana yöneltmediği hiç kimse bana gelemez› dememin nedeni budur›› dedi. 66 Bunun üzerine öğrencilerinin birçoğu geri döndüler, artık O'nunla dolaşmaz oldular. 67 İsa o zaman Onikiler'e, ‹‹Siz de mi ayrılmak istiyorsunuz?›› diye sordu. 68 Simun Petrus şu yanıtı verdi: ‹‹Rab, biz kime gidelim? Sonsuz yaşamın sözleri sendedir. 69 İman ediyor ve biliyoruz ki, sen Tanrı'nın Kutsalı'sın.›› 70 İsa onlara şu karşılığı verdi: ‹‹Siz Onikiler'i seçen ben değil miyim? Buna karşın içinizden biri iblistir.›› 71 Simun İskariot'un oğlu Yahuda'dan söz ediyordu. Çünkü Yahuda Onikiler'den biri olduğu halde İsa'ya ihanet edecekti.

1 After this Jesus went away to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias. (Mat 4:18; Mat 14:13; Mar 6:32; Luk 9:10; Yu 21:1) 2 And a large crowd was following him, because they saw the signs that he was doing on the sick. 3 Jesus went up on the mountain, and there he sat down with his disciples. (Yu 6:15) 4 Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand. (Yu 2:13; Yu 5:1; Yu 7:2; Yu 11:55) 5 Lifting up his eyes, then, and seeing that a large crowd was coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?” (Luk 6:20; Yu 1:44) 6 He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do. 7 Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii[1] worth of bread would not be enough for each of them to get a little.” (Mar 6:37) 8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him, (Yu 1:40; Yu 1:44) 9 “There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are they for so many?” (2 Kr 4:42) 10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, about five thousand in number. (Mar 6:39) 11 Jesus then took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated. So also the fish, as much as they wanted. (Mat 15:36; Yu 6:23) 12 And when they had eaten their fill, he told his disciples, “Gather up the leftover fragments, that nothing may be lost.” 13 So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves left by those who had eaten. 14 When the people saw the sign that he had done, they said, “This is indeed the Prophet who is to come into the world!” (Mat 11:3; Mat 21:11; Yu 1:21; Yu 4:19; Yu 7:40; Yu 11:27) 15 Perceiving then that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, Jesus withdrew again to the mountain by himself. (Mat 8:18; Mat 14:22; Mar 6:45; Yu 6:3; Yu 12:12) 



16 When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea, 17 got into a boat, and started across the sea to Capernaum. It was now dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them. 18 The sea became rough because a strong wind was blowing. 19 When they had rowed about three or four miles,[2] they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they were frightened. 20 But he said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.” (Luk 24:38) 21 Then they were glad to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going. 



22 On the next day the crowd that remained on the other side of the sea saw that there had been only one boat there, and that Jesus had not entered the boat with his disciples, but that his disciples had gone away alone. (Yu 21:8) 23 Other boats from Tiberias came near the place where they had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks. (Yu 6:11) 24 So when the crowd saw that Jesus was not there, nor his disciples, they themselves got into the boats and went to Capernaum, seeking Jesus. (Mat 14:34; Mar 6:53; Yu 6:17; Yu 6:59) 25 When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” (Yu 1:38) 26 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. (Yu 6:2; Yu 6:24) 27 Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.” (Yşa 55:2; Hez 9:4; Dan 7:13; Yu 3:33; Yu 5:36; Yu 6:35; Yu 6:50; Yu 6:54; Yu 6:58; Yu 10:36; Rom 4:11; 1 Ko 9:2; 2 Ti 2:19) 28 Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” (1 Ko 15:58; Va 2:26) 29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” (Yu 3:17; 1 Yu 3:23) 30 So they said to him, “Then what sign do you do, that we may see and believe you? What work do you perform? (Mat 12:38) 31 Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” (Çık 16:15; Say 11:7; Neh 9:15; Mez 78:24; Mez 105:40; Yu 6:49; Yu 6:58; 1 Ko 10:3) 32 Jesus then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” (Yu 6:50) 34 They said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.” (Yu 4:15; Yu 4:33) 35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. (Mat 11:28; Yu 4:14; Yu 5:40; Yu 6:41; Yu 6:48; Yu 6:51; Yu 6:58; Yu 7:37; Va 7:16) 36 But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. (Yu 6:39; Yu 10:28; Yu 10:29; Yu 17:2; Yu 17:6; Yu 17:9; Yu 17:12; Yu 17:24) 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. How does he now say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?” (Mat 13:55; Yu 1:45; Yu 7:27) 43 Jesus answered them, “Do not grumble among yourselves. 44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day. (Yer 31:3; Hoş 11:4; Yu 4:23; Yu 6:39; Yu 6:65; Yu 12:32) 45 It is written in the Prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me— (Yşa 54:13; Yer 31:33; Yu 6:37; 1 Ko 2:13; 1 Se 4:9; İbr 8:10; 1 Yu 2:20) 46 not that anyone has seen the Father except he who is from God; he has seen the Father. (Yu 1:18; Yu 3:32; Yu 7:29; Yu 8:38) 47 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. (Yu 3:36) 48 I am the bread of life. (Yu 6:35) 49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. (Yu 6:31; Yu 6:58) 50 This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. (Yu 6:33; Yu 6:51; Yu 6:58) 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.” (Luk 22:19; Yu 1:14; Yu 3:13; Yu 6:53; Yu 6:57) 52 The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” (Yu 3:9; Yu 6:60; Yu 9:16; Yu 10:19) 53 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. (Yu 6:27; Yu 20:31) 54 Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. (Yu 6:39; Yu 6:40) 55 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. 56 Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. (Yu 15:4; 1 Yu 3:24; 1 Yu 4:13; 1 Yu 4:15) 57 As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me. (Mat 16:16; Yu 3:17; Yu 5:26; Yu 11:25; Va 1:18) 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread[3] the fathers ate, and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” (Yu 6:31; Yu 6:33; Yu 6:49) 59 Jesus[4] said these things in the synagogue, as he taught at Capernaum. (Yu 6:24) 



60 When many of his disciples heard it, they said, “This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?” (Yu 6:64; Yu 6:66) 61 But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, “Do you take offense at this? (Yu 2:24) 62 Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? (Mar 16:19; Yu 3:13; Yu 6:27; Yu 17:5) 63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. (Yu 3:6; Yu 6:68; 1 Ko 15:45; 2 Ko 3:6) 64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning who those were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray him.) (Yu 6:61; Yu 6:66; Yu 6:71; Yu 13:11) 65 And he said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father.” (Yu 3:27; Yu 6:44) 66 After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him. (Yu 6:60; Yu 6:64) 67 So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” (Yu 6:70) 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, (Yu 12:50; Yu 17:8; Elç 5:20) 69 and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.” (Mar 1:24; Yu 1:49; Yu 11:27; 1 Yu 4:16) 70 Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil.” (Yu 6:67; Yu 13:2; Yu 13:18; Yu 13:27; Yu 17:12) 71 He spoke of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he, one of the twelve, was going to betray him. (Yu 6:64; Yu 6:67; Yu 13:26)
