1 Sabah olunca bütün başkâhinlerle halkın ileri gelenleri, İsa'yı ölüm cezasına çarptırmak konusunda anlaştılar. 2 O'nu bağladılar ve götürüp Vali Pilatus'a teslim ettiler. 3 İsa'ya ihanet eden Yahuda, O'nun mahkûm edildiğini görünce yaptığına pişman oldu. Otuz gümüşü başkâhinlere ve ileri gelenlere geri götürdü. 4 ‹‹Ben suçsuz birini ele vermekle günah işledim›› dedi. Onlar ise, ‹‹Bundan bize ne? Onu sen düşün›› dediler. 5 Yahuda paraları tapınağın içine fırlatarak oradan ayrıldı, gidip kendini astı. 6 Paraları toplayan başkâhinler, ‹‹Kan bedeli olan bu paraları tapınağın hazinesine koymak doğru olmaz›› dediler. 7 Kendi aralarında anlaşarak bu parayla yabancılar için mezarlık yapmak üzere Çömlekçi Tarlası'nı satın aldılar. 8 Bunun için bu tarlaya bugüne dek ‹‹Kan Tarlası›› denilmiştir. 9-10 Böylece Peygamber Yeremya aracılığıyla bildirilen şu söz yerine gelmiş oldu: ‹‹İsrailoğulları'ndan kimilerinin O'na biçtikleri değerin karşılığı olan Otuz gümüşü aldılar; Rab'bin bana buyurduğu gibi, Çömlekçi Tarlası'nı satın almak için harcadılar.›› 



11 İsa valinin önüne çıkarıldı. Vali O'na, ‹‹Sen Yahudiler'in Kralı mısın?›› diye sordu. İsa, ‹‹Söylediğin gibidir›› dedi. (Mar 15:2; Mar 16:1; Luk 23:3; Yu 18:33) 12 Başkâhinlerle ileri gelenler O'nu suçlayınca hiç karşılık vermedi. 13 Pilatus O'na, ‹‹Senin aleyhinde yaptıkları bunca tanıklığı duymuyor musun?›› dedi. 14 İsa tek konuda bile ona yanıt vermedi. Vali buna çok şaştı. 15 Her Fısıh Bayramı'nda vali, halkın istediği bir tutukluyu salıvermeyi adet edinmişti. 16 O günlerde Barabba adında ünlü bir tutuklu vardı. 17 Halk bir araya toplandığında, Pilatus onlara, ‹‹Sizin için kimi salıvermemi istersiniz, Barabba'yı mı, Mesih denen İsa'yı mı?›› diye sordu. 18 İsa'yı kıskançlıktan ötürü kendisine teslim ettiklerini biliyordu. 19 Pilatus yargı kürsüsünde otururken karısı ona, ‹‹O doğru adama dokunma. Dün gece rüyamda O'nun yüzünden çok sıkıntı çektim›› diye haber gönderdi. 20 Başkâhinler ve ileri gelenler ise, Barabba'nın salıverilmesini ve İsa'nın öldürülmesini istesinler diye halkı kışkırttılar. 21 Vali onlara şunu sordu: ‹‹Sizin için hangisini salıvermemi istersiniz?›› ‹‹Barabba'yı›› dediler. 22 Pilatus, ‹‹Öyleyse Mesih denen İsa'yı ne yapayım?›› diye sordu. Hep bir ağızdan, ‹‹Çarmıha gerilsin!›› dediler. 23 Pilatus, ‹‹O ne kötülük yaptı ki?›› diye sordu. Onlar ise daha yüksek sesle, ‹‹Çarmıha gerilsin!›› diye bağrışıp durdular. 24 Pilatus, elinden bir şey gelmediğini, tersine, bir kargaşalığın başladığını görünce su aldı, kalabalığın önünde ellerini yıkayıp şöyle dedi: ‹‹Bu adamın kanından ben sorumlu değilim. Bu işe siz bakın!›› 25 Bütün halk şu karşılığı verdi: ‹‹O'nun kanının sorumluluğu bizim ve çocuklarımızın üzerinde olsun!›› 26 Bunun üzerine Pilatus onlar için Barabba'yı salıverdi. İsa'yı ise kamçılattıktan sonra çarmıha gerilmek üzere askerlere teslim etti. 



27 Sonra valinin askerleri İsa'yı vali konağına götürüp bütün taburu başına topladılar. (Mar 15:16; Yu 19:2) 28 O'nu soyup üzerine kırmızı bir kaftan geçirdiler. 29 Dikenlerden bir taç örüp başına koydular, sağ eline de bir kamış tutturdular. Önünde diz çöküp, ‹‹Selam, ey Yahudiler'in Kralı!›› diyerek O'nunla alay ettiler. 30 Üzerine tükürdüler, kamışı alıp başına vurdular. 31 O'nunla böyle alay ettikten sonra kaftanı üzerinden çıkarıp kendi giysilerini giydirdiler ve çarmıha germeye götürdüler. 



32 Dışarı çıktıklarında Simun adında Kireneli bir adama rastladılar. İsa'nın çarmıhını ona zorla taşıttılar. (Mar 15:21; Luk 23:26; Yu 19:17) 33-34 Golgota, yani Kafatası denilen yere vardıklarında içmesi için İsa'ya ödle karışık şarap verdiler. İsa bunu tadınca içmek istemedi. 35 Askerler O'nu çarmıha gerdikten sonra kura çekerek giysilerini aralarında paylaştılar. 36 Sonra oturup yanında nöbet tuttular. 37 Başının üzerine, diye yazan bir suç yaftası astılar. 38 İsa'yla birlikte, biri sağında öbürü solunda olmak üzere iki haydut da çarmıha gerildi. 39-40 Oradan geçenler başlarını sallayıp İsa'ya sövüyor, ‹‹Hani sen tapınağı yıkıp üç günde yeniden kuracaktın? Haydi, kurtar kendini! Tanrı'nın Oğlu'ysan çarmıhtan in!›› diyorlardı. 41-42 Başkâhinler, din bilginleri ve ileri gelenler de aynı şekilde O'nunla alay ederek, ‹‹Başkalarını kurtardı, kendini kurtaramıyor›› diyorlardı. ‹‹İsrail'in Kralı imiş! Şimdi çarmıhtan aşağı insin de O'na iman edelim. 43 Tanrı'ya güveniyordu; Tanrı O'nu seviyorsa, kurtarsın bakalım! Çünkü, ‹Ben Tanrı'nın Oğlu'yum› demişti.›› 44 İsa'yla birlikte çarmıha gerilen haydutlar da O'na aynı şekilde hakaret ettiler. 



45 Öğleyin on ikiden üçe kadar bütün ülkenin üzerine karanlık çöktü. (Mar 15:33; Luk 23:44; Yu 19:28) 46 Saat üçe doğru İsa yüksek sesle, ‹‹Eli, Eli, lema şevaktani?›› yani, ‹‹Tanrım, Tanrım, beni neden terk ettin?›› diye bağırdı. 47 Orada duranlardan bazıları bunu işitince, ‹‹Bu adam İlyas'ı çağırıyor›› dediler. 48 İçlerinden biri hemen koşup bir sünger getirdi, ekşi şaraba batırıp bir kamışın ucuna takarak İsa'ya içirdi. 49 Öbürleri ise, ‹‹Dur bakalım, İlyas gelip O'nu kurtaracak mı?›› dediler. 50 İsa, yüksek sesle bir kez daha bağırdı ve ruhunu teslim etti. 51 O anda tapınaktaki perde yukarıdan aşağıya yırtılarak ikiye bölündü. Yer sarsıldı, kayalar yarıldı. 52 Mezarlar açıldı, ölmüş olan birçok kutsal kişinin cesetleri dirildi. 53 Bunlar mezarlarından çıkıp İsa'nın dirilişinden sonra kutsal kente girdiler ve birçok kimseye göründüler. 54 İsa'yı bekleyen yüzbaşı ve beraberindeki askerler, depremi ve öbür olayları görünce dehşete kapıldılar, ‹‹Bu gerçekten Tanrı'nın Oğlu'ydu!›› dediler. 55 Orada, olup bitenleri uzaktan izleyen birçok kadın vardı. Bunlar, Celile'den İsa'nın ardından gelip O'na hizmet etmişlerdi. 56 Aralarında Mecdelli Meryem, Yakup ile Yusuf'un annesi Meryem ve Zebedi oğullarının annesi de vardı. 



57 Akşama doğru Yusuf adında zengin bir Aramatyalı geldi. O da İsa'nın bir öğrencisiydi. (Mar 15:42; Luk 23:50; Yu 19:38) 58 Pilatus'a gidip İsa'nın cesedini istedi. Pilatus da cesedin ona verilmesini buyurdu. 59-60 Yusuf cesedi aldı, temiz keten beze sardı, kayaya oydurduğu kendi yeni mezarına yatırdı. Mezarın girişine büyük bir taş yuvarlayıp oradan ayrıldı. 61 Mecdelli Meryem ile öteki Meryem ise orada, mezarın karşısında oturuyorlardı. 62-63 Ertesi gün, yani Hazırlık Günü'nden sonraki gün, başkâhinlerle Ferisiler Pilatus'un önünde toplanarak, ‹‹Efendimiz›› dediler, ‹‹O aldatıcının, daha yaşarken, ‹Ben öldükten üç gün sonra dirileceğim› dediğini hatırlıyoruz. 64 Onun için buyruk ver de üçüncü güne dek mezarı güvenlik altına alsınlar. Yoksa öğrencileri gelir, cesedini çalar ve halka, ‹Ölümden dirildi› derler. Son aldatmaca ilkinden beter olur.›› 65 Pilatus onlara, ‹‹Yanınıza asker alın, gidip mezarı dilediğiniz gibi güvenlik altına alın›› dedi. 66 Onlar da askerlerle birlikte gittiler, taşı mühürleyip mezarı güvenlik altına aldılar.

1 When morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death. (Mat 26:4; Mar 15:1; Luk 22:66) 2 And they bound him and led him away and delivered him over to Pilate the governor. (Mat 20:19; Luk 3:1; Luk 13:1; Luk 23:1; Yu 18:28; Elç 3:13; Elç 4:27; 1 Ti 6:13) 



3 Then when Judas, his betrayer, saw that Jesus[1] was condemned, he changed his mind and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders, (Mat 21:29; Mat 26:14; Mat 26:15) 4 saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” They said, “What is that to us? See to it yourself.” (Mat 27:24) 5 And throwing down the pieces of silver into the temple, he departed, and he went and hanged himself. (2 Sa 17:23; Elç 1:18) 6 But the chief priests, taking the pieces of silver, said, “It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, since it is blood money.” (Mar 12:41; Mar 12:43; Luk 21:1; Yu 8:20) 7 So they took counsel and bought with them the potter’s field as a burial place for strangers. 8 Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day. (Mat 28:15; Elç 1:19) 9 Then was fulfilled what had been spoken by the prophet Jeremiah, saying, “And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him on whom a price had been set by some of the sons of Israel, (Zek 11:13; Mat 1:22) 10 and they gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord directed me.” 



11 Now Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” Jesus said, “You have said so.” (Mat 2:2; Mat 27:29; Mat 27:37; Mat 27:42; Mar 15:2; Luk 22:70; Luk 23:2; Yu 18:29; Yu 18:39; Yu 19:3; 1 Ti 6:13) 12 But when he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he gave no answer. (Mat 26:63) 13 Then Pilate said to him, “Do you not hear how many things they testify against you?” (Yu 19:10) 14 But he gave him no answer, not even to a single charge, so that the governor was greatly amazed. 



15 Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to release for the crowd any one prisoner whom they wanted. (Mar 15:6; Luk 23:18; Yu 18:39; Yu 19:16) 16 And they had then a notorious prisoner called Barabbas. 17 So when they had gathered, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release for you: Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?” (Mat 27:22) 18 For he knew that it was out of envy that they had delivered him up. (Yu 12:19) 19 Besides, while he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent word to him, “Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered much because of him today in a dream.” (Mat 2:12; Mat 27:24; Luk 23:47; Yu 19:13) 20 Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus. (Elç 3:14) 21 The governor again said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said, “Barabbas.” 22 Pilate said to them, “Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all said, “Let him be crucified!” (Elç 13:28) 23 And he said, “Why? What evil has he done?” But they shouted all the more, “Let him be crucified!” (Luk 23:41; Yu 8:46) 



24 So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this man’s blood;[2] see to it yourselves.” (Yas 21:6; Mez 26:6; Mez 73:13; Mat 26:5; Mat 27:4; Mat 27:19) 25 And all the people answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!” (Çık 20:5; Yşu 2:19; Ağı 5:7; Mat 23:35; Elç 5:28) 26 Then he released for them Barabbas, and having scourged[3] Jesus, delivered him to be crucified. (Yşa 50:6; Yşa 53:5; Mat 20:19; Luk 23:16; Yu 19:1) 



27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the governor’s headquarters,[4] and they gathered the whole battalion[5] before him. (Mar 15:16; Yu 18:28; Yu 18:33; Yu 19:2; Yu 19:9; Elç 10:1; Elç 23:35; Flp 1:13) 28 And they stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, (Luk 23:11; Va 18:12; Va 18:16) 29 and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on his head and put a reed in his right hand. And kneeling before him, they mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” (Mat 20:19; Mat 27:11) 30 And they spit on him and took the reed and struck him on the head. (Mat 26:67) 31 And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the robe and put his own clothes on him and led him away to crucify him. (Yşa 53:7) 



32 As they went out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. They compelled this man to carry his cross. (Say 15:35; Mat 21:39; Mar 15:21; Luk 23:26; Yu 19:17; İbr 13:12) 33 And when they came to a place called Golgotha (which means Place of a Skull), (Mar 15:22; Luk 23:32; Luk 23:44; Yu 19:17; Yu 19:23; Yu 19:28) 34 they offered him wine to drink, mixed with gall, but when he tasted it, he would not drink it. (Mez 69:21; Elç 8:23) 35 And when they had crucified him, they divided his garments among them by casting lots. (Mez 22:18) 36 Then they sat down and kept watch over him there. (Mez 22:17; Mat 27:54) 37 And over his head they put the charge against him, which read, “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.” (Mat 27:11; Mat 27:29) 38 Then two robbers were crucified with him, one on the right and one on the left. (Mat 20:21; Yu 18:40) 39 And those who passed by derided him, wagging their heads (Eyü 16:4; Mez 22:7; Mez 109:25; Yşa 37:22; Yer 18:16; Ağı 1:12; Ağı 2:15; Luk 22:65; Luk 23:39; Yak 2:7) 40 and saying, “You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross.” (Mat 4:3; Mat 4:6; Mat 14:33; Mat 26:61; Mat 26:63; Mat 27:43) 41 So also the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, mocked him, saying, 42 “He saved others; he cannot save himself. He is the King of Israel; let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. (Mat 26:53; Mat 27:37; Luk 4:23; Yu 1:49; Yu 10:18; Yu 12:13) 43 He trusts in God; let God deliver him now, if he desires him. For he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’” (Mez 22:8) 44 And the robbers who were crucified with him also reviled him in the same way. (Luk 23:39) 



45 Now from the sixth hour[6] there was darkness over all the land[7] until the ninth hour.[8] 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Mez 22:1; İbr 5:7) 47 And some of the bystanders, hearing it, said, “This man is calling Elijah.” 48 And one of them at once ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine, and put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink. (Rut 2:14; Mez 69:21) 49 But the others said, “Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to save him.” 50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit. (Mat 27:46; Yu 10:18) 51 And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split. (Çık 26:31; 2 Ta 3:14; Mat 27:54) 52 The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, (Dan 7:18; Dan 7:22; Yu 11:11; Elç 7:60; Elç 13:36; 1 Ko 15:6; 1 Ko 15:18; 1 Ko 15:20; 1 Se 4:13; 2 Pe 3:4) 53 and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many. (Mat 4:5) 54 When the centurion and those who were with him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said, “Truly this was the Son[9] of God!” (Mat 27:36; Mat 27:43; Mar 15:39; Luk 23:47; Luk 23:49) 55 There were also many women there, looking on from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to him, (Mez 38:11; Luk 8:2; Yu 19:25) 56 among whom were Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Joseph and the mother of the sons of Zebedee. (Mat 20:20; Mat 27:55; Mar 15:40) 



57 When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who also was a disciple of Jesus. (Mar 15:42; Luk 23:50; Yu 19:38) 58 He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be given to him. 59 And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen shroud 60 and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut in the rock. And he rolled a great stone to the entrance of the tomb and went away. (Yşa 22:16; Yşa 53:9; Mar 16:4; Yu 11:38) 61 Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were there, sitting opposite the tomb. (Mat 27:56; Mat 28:1) 



62 The next day, that is, after the day of Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate (Mar 15:42; Luk 23:54; Yu 19:14; Yu 19:31; Yu 19:42) 63 and said, “Sir, we remember how that impostor said, while he was still alive, ‘After three days I will rise.’ (Mat 16:21; Mat 17:23; Mat 20:19; Mat 26:61; Mat 27:64; Mat 28:6; Mar 8:31; Mar 10:34; Luk 9:22; Luk 18:33; Luk 24:6; Yu 2:19; Yu 7:12) 64 Therefore order the tomb to be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples go and steal him away and tell the people, ‘He has risen from the dead,’ and the last fraud will be worse than the first.” (Mat 28:13) 65 Pilate said to them, “You have a guard[10] of soldiers. Go, make it as secure as you can.” (Mat 28:11) 66 So they went and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone and setting a guard. (Dan 6:17)
