1Sabah olunca başkâhinler, ileri gelenler, din bilginleri ve Yüksek Kurul'un öteki üyeleri bir danışma toplantısı yaptıktan sonra İsa'yı bağladılar, götürüp Pilatus'a teslim ettiler.2Pilatus O'na, ‹‹Sen Yahudiler'in Kralı mısın?›› diye sordu. İsa, ‹‹Söylediğin gibidir›› yanıtını verdi.3Başkâhinler O'na karşı birçok suçlamada bulundular.4Pilatus O'na yeniden, ‹‹Hiç yanıt vermeyecek misin?›› diye sordu. ‹‹Bak, seni ne çok şeyle suçluyorlar!››5Ama İsa artık yanıt vermiyordu. Pilatus buna şaştı.
İsa Ölüm Cezasına Çarptırılıyor
6Pilatus, her Fısıh Bayramı'nda halkın istediği bir tutukluyu salıverirdi. (Mat 19:1; Mat 27:15; Luk 23:13; Yu 18:39)7Ayaklanma sırasında adam öldüren isyancılarla birlikte Barabba adında bir tutuklu da vardı.8Halk, Pilatus'a gelip her zamanki gibi kendileri için birini salıvermesini istedi.9Pilatus onlara, ‹‹Sizin için Yahudiler'in Kralı'nı salıvermemi ister misiniz?›› dedi.10Başkâhinlerin İsa'yı kıskançlıktan ötürü kendisine teslim ettiklerini biliyordu.11Ne var ki başkâhinler, İsa'nın değil, Barabba'nın salıverilmesini istemeleri için halkı kışkırttılar.12Pilatus onlara tekrar seslenerek, ‹‹Öyleyse Yahudiler'in Kralı dediğiniz adamı ne yapayım?›› diye sordu.13‹‹O'nu çarmıha ger!›› diye bağırdılar yine.14Pilatus onlara, ‹‹O ne kötülük yaptı ki?›› dedi. Onlar ise daha yüksek sesle, ‹‹O'nu çarmıha ger!›› diye bağrıştılar.15Halkı memnun etmek isteyen Pilatus, onlar için Barabba'yı salıverdi. İsa'yı ise kamçılattıktan sonra çarmıha gerilmek üzere askerlere teslim etti.
Askerlerin İsa'yı Aşağılaması
16Askerler İsa'yı, Pretorium denilen vali konağına götürüp bütün taburu topladılar. (Mat 27:27; Yu 19:2)17O'na mor bir giysi giydirdiler, dikenlerden bir taç örüp başına geçirdiler.18‹‹Selam, ey Yahudiler'in Kralı!›› diyerek O'nu selamlamaya başladılar.19Başına bir kamışla vuruyor, üzerine tükürüyor, diz çöküp önünde yere kapanıyorlardı.20O'nunla böyle alay ettikten sonra mor giysiyi üzerinden çıkarıp kendi giysilerini giydirdiler ve çarmıha germek üzere O'nu dışarı götürdüler.
İsa Çarmıha Geriliyor
21Kırdan gelmekte olan Simun adında Kireneli bir adam oradan geçiyordu. İskender ve Rufus'un babası olan bu adama İsa'nın çarmıhını zorla taşıttılar. (Mat 27:32; Luk 23:26; Yu 19:17)22İsa'yı Golgota, yani Kafatası denilen yere götürdüler.23O'na mürle karışık şarap vermek istediler, ama içmedi.24Sonra O'nu çarmıha gerdiler. Kim ne alacak diye kura çekerek giysilerini aralarında paylaştılar.25İsa'yı çarmıha gerdiklerinde saat dokuzdu.26Üzerindeki suç yaftasında, diye yazılıydı.27-28İsa'yla birlikte, biri sağında öbürü solunda olmak üzere iki haydudu da çarmıha gerdiler.29-30Oradan geçenler başlarını sallayıp İsa'ya sövüyor, ‹‹Hani sen tapınağı yıkıp üç günde yeniden kuracaktın? Çarmıhtan in de kurtar kendini!›› diyorlardı.31Aynı şekilde başkâhinler ve din bilginleri de O'nunla alay ederek aralarında, ‹‹Başkalarını kurtardı, kendini kurtaramıyor›› diye konuşuyorlardı.32‹‹İsrail'in Kralı Mesih şimdi çarmıhtan insin de görüp iman edelim.›› İsa'yla birlikte çarmıha gerilenler de O'na hakaret ettiler.
İsa'nın Ölümü
33Öğleyin on ikiden üçe kadar bütün ülkenin üzerine karanlık çöktü. (Mat 27:45; Luk 23:44; Yu 19:28)34Saat üçte İsa yüksek sesle, ‹‹Elohi, Elohi, lema şevaktani›› yani, ‹‹Tanrım, Tanrım, beni neden terk ettin?›› diye bağırdı.35Orada duranlardan bazıları bunu işitince, ‹‹Bakın, İlyas'ı çağırıyor›› dediler.36Aralarından biri koşup bir süngeri ekşi şaraba batırdı, bir kamışın ucuna takarak İsa'ya içirdi. ‹‹Dur bakalım, İlyas gelip O'nu indirecek mi?›› dedi.37Ama İsa yüksek sesle bağırarak son nefesini verdi.38O anda tapınaktaki perde yukarıdan aşağıya yırtılarak ikiye bölündü.39İsa'nın karşısında duran yüzbaşı, O'nun bu şekilde son nefesini verdiğini görünce, ‹‹Bu adam gerçekten Tanrı'nın Oğlu'ydu›› dedi.40Olup bitenleri uzaktan izleyen bazı kadınlar da vardı. Aralarında Mecdelli Meryem, küçük Yakup ile Yose'nin annesi Meryem ve Salome bulunuyordu.41İsa daha Celile'deyken bu kadınlar O'nun ardından gitmiş, O'na hizmet etmişlerdi. O'nunla birlikte Yeruşalim'e gelmiş olan daha birçok kadın da olup bitenleri izliyordu.
İsa'nın Gömülmesi
42-43O gün Hazırlık Günü, yani Şabat Günü'nden önceki gündü. Artık akşam oluyordu. Bu nedenle, Yüksek Kurul'un saygın bir üyesi olup Tanrı'nın Egemenliği'ni umutla bekleyen Aramatyalı Yusuf geldi, cesaretini toplayarak Pilatus'un huzuruna çıktı, İsa'nın cesedini istedi. Yüzbaşıyı çağırıp, ‹‹Öleli çok oldu mu?›› diye sordu.45Yüzbaşıdan durumu öğrenince Yusuf'a, cesedi alması için izin verdi.46Yusuf keten bez satın aldı, cesedi çarmıhtan indirip beze sardı, kayaya oyulmuş bir mezara yatırarak mezarın girişine bir taş yuvarladı.47Mecdelli Meryem ile Yose'nin annesi Meryem, İsa'nın nereye konulduğunu gördüler.
6Now at the feast he used to release for them one prisoner for whom they asked. (Mat 27:15; Luk 23:18; Yu 18:39; Yu 19:16)7And among the rebels in prison, who had committed murder in the insurrection, there was a man called Barabbas. (Elç 3:14; Elç 5:36)8And the crowd came up and began to ask Pilate to do as he usually did for them.9And he answered them, saying, “Do you want me to release for you the King of the Jews?”10For he perceived that it was out of envy that the chief priests had delivered him up. (Yu 12:19)11But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have him release for them Barabbas instead.12And Pilate again said to them, “Then what shall I do with the man you call the King of the Jews?” (Yu 19:15)13And they cried out again, “Crucify him.”14And Pilate said to them, “Why? What evil has he done?” But they shouted all the more, “Crucify him.” (Luk 23:41; Yu 8:46)15So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released for them Barabbas, and having scourged[1] Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified. Jesus Is Mocked
16And the soldiers led him away inside the palace (that is, the governor’s headquarters),[2] and they called together the whole battalion.[3] (Mat 26:3; Mat 27:27; Yu 18:28; Yu 18:33; Yu 19:2; Yu 19:9; Elç 10:1; Elç 23:35; Flp 1:13)17And they clothed him in a purple cloak, and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on him. (Luk 23:11; Va 18:12; Va 18:16)18And they began to salute him, “Hail, King of the Jews!” (Mar 15:2)19And they were striking his head with a reed and spitting on him and kneeling down in homage to him. The Crucifixion
21And they compelled a passerby, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry his cross. (Mat 27:32; Luk 23:26; Yu 19:17)22And they brought him to the place called Golgotha (which means Place of a Skull). (Mat 27:33; Luk 23:32; Luk 23:44; Yu 19:17; Yu 19:23; Yu 19:28)23And they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it. (Mat 2:11; Yu 19:39)24And they crucified him and divided his garments among them, casting lots for them, to decide what each should take. (Mez 22:18)25And it was the third hour[4] when they crucified him. (Yu 19:14)26And the inscription of the charge against him read, “The King of the Jews.” (Mar 15:2)27And with him they crucified two robbers, one on his right and one on his left.[5] (Mar 10:37; Yu 18:40)29And those who passed by derided him, wagging their heads and saying, “Aha! You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, (Eyü 16:4; Mez 22:7; Mez 35:25; Mez 40:15; Mez 109:25; Yer 18:16; Ağı 1:12; Ağı 2:15; Mar 14:58)30save yourself, and come down from the cross!”31So also the chief priests with the scribes mocked him to one another, saying, “He saved others; he cannot save himself. The Death of Jesus
33And when the sixth hour[6] had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.[7]34And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Mez 22:1; İbr 5:7)35And some of the bystanders hearing it said, “Behold, he is calling Elijah.”36And someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink, saying, “Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to take him down.” (Rut 2:14; Mez 69:21)37And Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last. (Mar 15:34; Yu 10:18)38And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. (Çık 26:31; 2 Ta 3:14)39And when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he[8] breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son[9] of God!” (Mat 27:43; Mat 27:54; Luk 23:47; Luk 23:49)40There were also women looking on from a distance, among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome. (Mez 38:11; Mat 27:56; Mar 16:1; Luk 8:2; Yu 19:25)41When he was in Galilee, they followed him and ministered to him, and there were also many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem. Jesus Is Buried
42And when evening had come, since it was the day of Preparation, that is, the day before the Sabbath, (Mat 27:57; Mat 27:62; Luk 23:50; Yu 19:38)43Joseph of Arimathea, a respected member of the council, who was also himself looking for the kingdom of God, took courage and went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. (Luk 2:25; Luk 2:38; Elç 13:50; Elç 17:12)44Pilate was surprised to hear that he should have already died.[10] And summoning the centurion, he asked him whether he was already dead. (Mar 15:39)45And when he learned from the centurion that he was dead, he granted the corpse to Joseph. (Mar 15:44)46And Joseph[11] bought a linen shroud, and taking him down, wrapped him in the linen shroud and laid him in a tomb that had been cut out of the rock.
