1 RAB Musa'ya, ‹‹Buradan git›› dedi, ‹‹Sen ve Mısır'dan çıkardığın halk İbrahim'e, İshak'a, Yakup'a, ‹Orayı senin soyuna vereceğim› diye ant içtiğim topraklara gidin. 2-3 Süt ve bal akan ülkeye senden önce bir melek gönderecek, Kenan, Amor, Hitit, Periz, Hiv ve Yevus halklarını oradan kovacağım. Ben sizinle gelmeyeceğim, çünkü inatçı insanlarsınız. Belki sizi yolda yok ederim.›› 4 Halk bu kötü haberi duyunca yasa büründü. Kimse takı takmadı. 5 Çünkü RAB Musa'ya şöyle demişti: ‹‹İsrailliler'e de ki, ‹Siz inatçı insanlarsınız. Bir an aranızda kalsam, sizi yok ederim. Şimdi üzerinizdeki takıları çıkarın, size ne yapacağıma karar vereyim.› ›› 6 Böylece Horev Dağı'ndan sonra İsrailliler takılarını çıkardı. 



7 Musa bir çadır alır, ordugahın dışına, biraz öteye kurardı. Ona ‹Buluşma Çadırı› derdi. Kim RAB'be danışmak istese, ordugahın dışındaki Buluşma Çadırı'na giderdi. 8 Musa ne zaman çadıra gitse, bütün halk kalkar, herkes çadırının girişinde durarak Musa içeri girinceye kadar arkasından bakardı. 9 Musa çadıra girince, bulut sütunu aşağı iner, RAB Musa'yla konuştuğu sürece girişi kapardı. 10 Bulut sütununun çadırın girişinde durduğunu gören herkes kalkar, kendi çadırının girişinde tapınırdı. 11 RAB Musa'yla iki arkadaş gibi yüz yüze konuşurdu. Sonra Musa ordugaha dönerdi. Ama genç yardımcısı Nun oğlu Yeşu çadırdan çıkmazdı. 12 Musa RAB'be şöyle dedi: ‹‹Bana, ‹Bu halka öncülük et› diyorsun, ama kimi benimle göndereceğini söylemedin. Bana, ‹Seni adınla tanıyorum, senden hoşnudum› demiştin. 13 Eğer benden hoşnutsan, lütfen şimdi bana yollarını göster ki, seni daha iyi tanıyıp hoşnut etmeye devam edeyim. Unutma, bu ulus senin halkındır.›› 14 RAB, ‹‹Varlığım sana eşlik edecek›› diye yanıtladı, ‹‹Seni rahata kavuşturacağım.›› 15 Musa, ‹‹Eğer varlığın bize eşlik etmeyecekse, bizi buradan çıkarma›› dedi, 16 ‹‹Yoksa benden ve halkından hoşnut kaldığın nereden bilinecek? Bize eşlik etmenden, değil mi? Ancak o zaman benimle halkın yeryüzünün öteki halklarından ayırt edilebiliriz.›› 17 RAB, ‹‹Söylediğin gibi yapacağım›› dedi, ‹‹Çünkü senden hoşnut kaldım, adınla tanıyorum seni.›› 18 Musa, ‹‹Lütfen görkemini bana göster›› dedi. 19 RAB, ‹‹Bütün iyiliğimi önünden geçireceğim›› diye karşılık verdi, ‹‹Adımı, RAB adını senin önünde duyuracağım. Merhamet ettiğime merhamet edeceğim, acıdığıma acıyacağım. 20 Ancak, yüzümü görmene izin veremem. Çünkü yüzümü gören yaşayamaz.›› 21 Sonra, ‹‹Yakınımda bir yer var›› dedi, ‹‹Orada, kayanın üzerinde dur. 22 Görkemim oradan geçerken seni kayanın kovuğuna sokup geçinceye kadar elimle örteceğim. 23 Elimi kaldırdığımda, sırtımı göreceksin. Ama yüzüm görülmeyecek.››

1 The Lord said to Moses, “Depart; go up from here, you and the people whom you have brought up out of the land of Egypt, to the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘To your offspring I will give it.’ (Yar 12:7; Çık 32:7; Çık 32:13) 2 I will send an angel before you, and I will drive out the Canaanites, the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. (Çık 13:5; Çık 14:19) 3 Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; but I will not go up among you, lest I consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked people.” (Çık 3:8; Çık 32:9; Çık 32:10; Çık 33:15; Say 16:21; Say 16:45) 4 When the people heard this disastrous word, they mourned, and no one put on his ornaments. (Say 14:39; Hez 24:17; Hez 24:23; Hez 26:16) 5 For the Lord had said to Moses, “Say to the people of Israel, ‘You are a stiff-necked people; if for a single moment I should go up among you, I would consume you. So now take off your ornaments, that I may know what to do with you.’” (Çık 32:12; Çık 33:3; Çık 33:4) 6 Therefore the people of Israel stripped themselves of their ornaments, from Mount Horeb onward. 



7 Now Moses used to take the tent and pitch it outside the camp, far off from the camp, and he called it the tent of meeting. And everyone who sought the Lord would go out to the tent of meeting, which was outside the camp. (Çık 29:42; Yas 4:29; 2 Sa 21:1; 1 Ta 16:10; Mez 40:16) 8 Whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people would rise up, and each would stand at his tent door, and watch Moses until he had gone into the tent. (Say 16:27) 9 When Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud would descend and stand at the entrance of the tent, and the Lord[1] would speak with Moses. (Çık 13:21) 10 And when all the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance of the tent, all the people would rise up and worship, each at his tent door. 11 Thus the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. When Moses turned again into the camp, his assistant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent. (Yar 32:30; Çık 17:9; Çık 24:13; Çık 32:17; Say 12:8; Yas 34:10) 



12 Moses said to the Lord, “See, you say to me, ‘Bring up this people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found favor in my sight.’ (Çık 32:34; Çık 33:17) 13 Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me now your ways, that I may know you in order to find favor in your sight. Consider too that this nation is your people.” (Yas 9:29; Mez 25:4; Mez 103:7; Yoe 2:17) 14 And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” (Çık 40:34; Yas 3:20; Yşu 1:5; Yşu 21:44; Yşu 22:4; Yşu 23:1; Mez 95:11; Yşa 63:9) 15 And he said to him, “If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here. (Çık 33:1) 16 For how shall it be known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Is it not in your going with us, so that we are distinct, I and your people, from every other people on the face of the earth?” (Çık 19:5; Say 14:14; 1 Kr 8:53) 17 And the Lord said to Moses, “This very thing that you have spoken I will do, for you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name.” (Çık 33:12) 18 Moses said, “Please show me your glory.” (Çık 33:20; 1 Ti 6:16) 19 And he said, “I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name ‘The Lord.’ And I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. (Çık 34:5; Mez 31:19; Yer 31:14; Rom 9:15) 20 But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for man shall not see me and live.” (Yar 32:30; Çık 24:10; Yas 5:24; Hak 6:22; Hak 13:22; Yşa 6:5; Va 1:17) 21 And the Lord said, “Behold, there is a place by me where you shall stand on the rock, 22 and while my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by. (Mez 91:1; Mez 91:4; Yşa 2:21) 23 Then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back, but my face shall not be seen.” (Çık 33:20; Yu 1:18; 1 Ti 6:16; 1 Yu 4:12)
