1 O sırada halktan binlerce kişi birbirlerini ezercesine toplanmıştı. İsa önce kendi öğrencilerine şunları söylemeye başladı: ‹‹Ferisiler'in mayasından -yani, ikiyüzlülükten- kaçının. 2 Örtülü olup da açığa çıkarılmayacak, gizli olup da bilinmeyecek hiçbir şey yoktur. 3 Bunun için karanlıkta söylediğiniz her söz gün ışığında duyulacak, kapalı kapılar ardında kulağa fısıldadıklarınız damlardan duyurulacaktır. 4 ‹‹Siz dostlarıma söylüyorum, bedeni öldüren, ama ondan sonra başka bir şey yapamayanlardan korkmayın. 5 Kimden korkmanız gerektiğini size açıklayayım: Kişiyi öldürdükten sonra cehenneme atma yetkisine sahip olan Tanrı'dan korkun. Evet, size söylüyorum, O'ndan korkun. 6 Beş serçe iki meteliğe satılmıyor mu? Ama bunlardan bir teki bile Tanrı katında unutulmuş değildir. 7 Nitekim başınızdaki bütün saçlar bile sayılıdır. Korkmayın, siz birçok serçeden daha değerlisiniz. 8 ‹‹Size şunu söyleyeyim, insanların önünde beni açıkça kabul eden herkesi, İnsanoğlu da Tanrı'nın melekleri önünde açıkça kabul edecek. 9 Ama kim beni insanlar önünde inkâr ederse, kendisi de Tanrı'nın melekleri önünde inkâr edilecek. 10 İnsanoğlu'na karşı bir söz söyleyen herkes bağışlanacak. Oysa Kutsal Ruh'a küfreden bağışlanmayacaktır. 11 ‹‹Sizi havra topluluklarının, yöneticilerin ve yetkililerin önüne çıkardıklarında, ‹Kendimizi neyle, nasıl savunacağız?› ya da, ‹Ne söyleyeceğiz?› diye kaygılanmayın. 12 Kutsal Ruh o anda size ne söylemeniz gerektiğini öğretecektir.›› 



13 Kalabalığın içinden biri İsa'ya, ‹‹Öğretmenim, kardeşime söyle de mirası benimle paylaşsın›› dedi. 14 İsa ona şöyle dedi: ‹‹Ey adam! Kim beni üzerinizde yargıç ya da hakem yaptı?›› 15 Sonra onlara, ‹‹Dikkatli olun!›› dedi. ‹‹Her türlü açgözlülükten sakının. Çünkü insanın yaşamı, malının çokluğuna bağlı değildir.›› 16 İsa onlara şu benzetmeyi anlattı: ‹‹Zengin bir adamın toprakları bol ürün verdi. 17 Adam kendi kendine, ‹Ne yapacağım? Ürünlerimi koyacak yerim yok› diye düşündü. 18 Sonra, ‹Şöyle yapacağım› dedi. ‹Ambarlarımı yıkıp daha büyüklerini yapacağım, bütün tahıllarımı ve mallarımı oraya yığacağım. 19 Kendime, ey canım, yıllarca yetecek kadar bol malın var. Rahatına bak, ye, iç, yaşamın tadını çıkar diyeceğim.› 20 ‹‹Ama Tanrı ona, ‹Ey akılsız!› dedi. ‹Bu gece canın senden istenecek. Biriktirdiğin bu şeyler kime kalacak?› 21 ‹‹Kendisi için servet biriktiren, ama Tanrı katında zengin olmayan kişinin sonu böyle olur.›› 



22 İsa öğrencilerine şöyle dedi: ‹‹Bu nedenle size şunu söylüyorum: ‹Ne yiyeceğiz?› diye canınız için, ‹Ne giyeceğiz?› diye bedeniniz için kaygılanmayın. (Mat 6:25) 23 Can yiyecekten, beden de giyecekten daha önemlidir. 24 Kargalara bakın! Ne eker, ne biçerler; ne kilerleri, ne ambarları vardır. Tanrı yine de onları doyurur. Siz kuşlardan çok daha değerlisiniz! 25 Hangi biriniz kaygılanmakla ömrünü bir anlık uzatabilir? 26 Bu küçücük işe bile gücünüz yetmediğine göre, öbür konularda neden kaygılanıyorsunuz? 27 ‹‹Zambakların nasıl büyüdüğüne bakın! Ne çalışırlar, ne de iplik eğirirler. Ama size şunu söyleyeyim, bütün görkemine karşın Süleyman bile bunlardan biri gibi giyinmiş değildi. 28 Ey kıt imanlılar, bugün var olup yarın ocağa atılacak olan kır otunu böyle giydiren Tanrı'nın sizi de giydireceği çok daha kesindir. 29 ‹Ne yiyeceğiz, ne içeceğiz?› diye düşünüp tasalanmayın. 30 Dünya ulusları hep bu şeylerin peşinden giderler. Oysa Babanız, bunlara gereksinmeniz olduğunu bilir. 31 Siz O'nun egemenliğinin ardından gidin, o zaman size bunlar da verilecektir. 32 ‹‹Korkma, ey küçük sürü! Çünkü Babanız, egemenliği size vermeyi uygun gördü. 33 Mallarınızı satın, sadaka olarak verin. Kendinize eskimeyen keseler, göklerde tükenmeyen bir hazine edinin. Orada ne hırsız ona yaklaşır, ne de güve onu yer. 34 Hazineniz neredeyse, yüreğiniz de orada olacaktır.›› 



35 ‹‹Kuşaklarınız belinizde bağlı ve kandilleriniz yanar durumda hazır olun. (Mat 10:34; Mar 10:38) 36 Düğün şenliğinden dönecek olan efendilerinin gelip kapıyı çaldığı an kapıyı açmak için hazır bekleyen köleler gibi olun. 37 Efendileri geldiğinde uyanık bulunan kölelere ne mutlu! Size doğrusunu söyleyeyim, efendileri beline kuşağını bağlayacak, kölelerini sofraya oturtacak ve gelip onlara hizmet edecek. 38 Efendi gecenin ister ikinci, ister üçüncü nöbetinde gelsin, uyanık bulacağı kölelere ne mutlu! 39 Ama şunu bilin ki, ev sahibi, hırsızın hangi saatte geleceğini bilse, evinin soyulmasına fırsat vermez. 40 Siz de hazır olun. Çünkü İnsanoğlu beklemediğiniz saatte gelecektir.›› 41 Petrus, ‹‹Ya Rab›› dedi, ‹‹Bu benzetmeyi bizim için mi anlatıyorsun, yoksa herkes için mi?›› 42 Rab de şöyle dedi: ‹‹Efendinin, uşaklarına vaktinde azık vermek için başlarına atadığı güvenilir ve akıllı kâhya kimdir? 43 Efendisi eve döndüğünde işinin başında bulacağı o köleye ne mutlu! 44 Size gerçeği söyleyeyim, efendisi onu bütün malının üzerinde yetkili kılacak. 45-46 Ama o köle içinden, ‹Efendim gecikiyor› der, kadın ve erkek hizmetkârları dövmeye, yiyip içip sarhoş olmaya başlarsa, efendisi, onun beklemediği günde, ummadığı saatte gelecek, onu şiddetle cezalandırıp imansızlarla bir tutacaktır. 47 ‹‹Efendisinin isteğini bilip de hazırlık yapmayan, onun isteğini yerine getirmeyen köle çok dayak yiyecek. 48 Oysa bilmeden dayağı hak eden davranışlarda bulunan, az dayak yiyecek. Kime çok verilmişse, ondan çok istenecek. Kime çok şey emanet edilmişse, kendisinden daha fazlası istenecektir. 49 ‹‹Ben dünyaya ateş yağdırmaya geldim. Keşke bu ateş daha şimdiden alevlenmiş olsaydı! 50 Katlanmam gereken bir vaftiz var. Bu vaftiz gerçekleşinceye dek nasıl da sıkıntı çekiyorum! 51 Yeryüzüne barış getirmeye mi geldiğimi sanıyorsunuz? Size hayır diyorum, ayrılık getirmeye geldim. 52 Bundan böyle bir evde beş kişi, ikiye karşı üç, üçe karşı iki bölünmüş olacak. 53 Baba oğluna karşı, oğul babasına karşı, anne kızına karşı, kız annesine karşı, kaynana gelinine karşı, gelin kaynanasına karşı olacaktır.›› (Mat 10:26) 



54 İsa halka şunları da söyledi: ‹‹Batıda bir bulutun yükseldiğini görünce siz hemen, ‹Sağanak geliyor› diyorsunuz, ve öyle oluyor. (Mat 5:25) 55 Rüzgarın güneyden estiğini görünce, ‹Çok sıcak olacak› diyorsunuz, ve öyle oluyor. 56 Sizi ikiyüzlüler! Yeryüzünün ve gökyüzünün görünümünden bir anlam çıkarabiliyorsunuz da, şimdiki zamanın anlamını nasıl oluyor da çıkaramıyorsunuz? 57 ‹‹Doğru olana neden kendiniz karar vermiyorsunuz? 58 Sizden davacı olanla birlikte yargıca giderken, yolda onunla anlaşmak için elinizden geleni yapın. Yoksa o sizi yargıcın önüne sürükler, yargıç gardiyanın eline verir, gardiyan da sizi hapse atar. 59 Size şunu söyleyeyim, borcunuzun son kuruşunu ödemedikçe oradan asla çıkamazsınız.››

1 In the meantime, when so many thousands of the people had gathered together that they were trampling one another, he began to say to his disciples first, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. (Mat 16:6; Mat 16:11; Mat 23:28; Mar 8:15; Mar 12:15; Luk 11:29; 1 Ko 5:6; Gal 5:9) 2 Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. (Mat 10:26; Mar 4:22; Luk 8:17; 1 Ti 5:25) 3 Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops. (Mat 6:6; Luk 5:19) 



4 “I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do. (Yşa 8:12; Yşa 51:12; Yer 1:8; 1 Pe 3:14) 5 But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell.[1] Yes, I tell you, fear him! (Yak 4:12) 6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies?[2] And not one of them is forgotten before God. (Mez 50:11) 7 Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows. (1 Sa 14:45; Mat 6:26; Mat 12:12) 



8 “And I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man also will acknowledge before the angels of God, (Mat 25:31; Luk 15:10; Rom 10:9; 1 Ti 5:21; İbr 10:35; Va 3:5) 9 but the one who denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God. (Mat 7:23; Mat 25:12; Mar 8:38; Luk 12:8; Luk 13:25; 2 Ti 2:12; 2 Pe 2:1; 1 Yu 2:23) 10 And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. (Mat 11:19; Mat 12:31; Mar 3:28; Yu 7:12; Yu 9:24; Elç 7:51; 1 Ti 1:12; İbr 6:4; İbr 10:26; İbr 10:29; 1 Yu 5:16) 11 And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious about how you should defend yourself or what you should say, (Mat 10:17; Mat 10:19; Mat 23:34; Mar 13:11; Luk 12:22; Luk 21:12; Luk 21:14; Tit 3:1) 12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.” (Mat 10:19) 



13 Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” (Luk 11:27) 14 But he said to him, “Man, who made me a judge or arbitrator over you?” (Çık 2:14; Mik 6:8; Elç 7:27; Rom 2:1; Rom 2:3; Rom 9:20) 15 And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” (1 Ti 6:6; İbr 13:5) 16 And he told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man produced plentifully, (Mez 49:16) 17 and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ (Vai 5:10) 18 And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. (Luk 12:24) 19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’ (Özd 27:1; Vai 2:24; Vai 11:9; Luk 15:23; 1 Ko 15:32; Yak 4:13) 20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ (Eyü 27:8; Eyü 27:17; Mez 39:6; Vai 2:18; Vai 2:21; Yer 17:11; Mat 16:26; Luk 12:19) 21 So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.” (Mat 6:19) 



22 And he said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. (Mat 6:25; Mat 10:19; Mat 13:22; Luk 10:41; Luk 12:11; 1 Ko 7:32; Flp 4:6; 1 Pe 5:7) 23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. 24 Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! (Eyü 38:41; Mez 147:9; Luk 12:7) 25 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?[3] (Luk 2:52) 26 If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest? 27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin,[4] yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. (1 Kr 10:4) 28 But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! (Mat 8:26; Mat 14:31; Mat 16:8; Luk 17:6) 29 And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. (Yak 1:6) 30 For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. (Mat 6:8) 31 Instead, seek his[5] kingdom, and these things will be added to you. (1 Kr 3:11; Mat 5:6; Mat 5:20; Mar 10:29; Luk 11:2; 1 Ti 4:8; 1 Pe 3:9) 32 “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. (Yşa 40:11; Yşa 41:14; Yşa 44:2; Mat 11:26; Mat 13:19; Mat 26:31; Luk 10:21; Luk 22:29; Yu 10:16; Yu 21:15; Elç 20:28; Ef 1:5; Ef 1:9; Flp 2:13; 1 Pe 5:2) 33 Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. (Mat 6:20; Mat 19:21; Luk 11:41; Luk 12:21; Luk 16:9; 1 Pe 1:4) 34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Mat 6:21) 



35 “Stay dressed for action[6] and keep your lamps burning, (Mat 25:7; Ef 6:14; 1 Pe 1:13) 36 and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the wedding feast, so that they may open the door to him at once when he comes and knocks. (2 Pe 3:12; Va 3:20) 37 Blessed are those servants[7] whom the master finds awake when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will dress himself for service and have them recline at table, and he will come and serve them. (Mat 24:42; Mat 24:46; Luk 12:35; Luk 17:8; Luk 22:27; Yu 13:4) 38 If he comes in the second watch, or in the third, and finds them awake, blessed are those servants! 39 But know this, that if the master of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he[8] would not have left his house to be broken into. (Mat 24:43; 1 Se 5:2; 2 Pe 3:10; Va 3:3) 40 You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” (Mat 25:10; Luk 12:47; Luk 21:27) 41 Peter said, “Lord, are you telling this parable for us or for all?” (Mar 13:37) 42 And the Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom his master will set over his household, to give them their portion of food at the proper time? (Mat 24:45; Luk 16:1) 43 Blessed is that servant[9] whom his master will find so doing when he comes. (Yu 13:17; Va 16:15) 44 Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions. (Mat 25:21; Mat 25:23) 45 But if that servant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed in coming,’ and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and get drunk, (Mat 25:5; 1 Se 5:7; İbr 10:37; 2 Pe 3:4; 2 Pe 3:9) 46 the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know, and will cut him in pieces and put him with the unfaithful. (Luk 12:40; 2 Pe 3:12) 47 And that servant who knew his master’s will but did not get ready or act according to his will, will receive a severe beating. (Yas 25:2; Mat 11:24; Luk 12:40; Yu 15:22; Yu 15:24; Yak 4:17; 2 Pe 2:21) 48 But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more. (Lev 5:17; Say 15:29; Mat 13:12; Mat 25:29; Rom 1:19; Rom 2:14; 1 Ti 1:13) 



49 “I came to cast fire on the earth, and would that it were already kindled! (Mat 3:11) 50 I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how great is my distress until it is accomplished! (Mar 10:38; 2 Ko 5:14) 51 Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. (Mat 10:34; Va 6:4) 52 For from now on in one house there will be five divided, three against two and two against three. 53 They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.” (Mik 7:6; Mat 10:21) 



54 He also said to the crowds, “When you see a cloud rising in the west, you say at once, ‘A shower is coming.’ And so it happens. (1 Kr 18:43; Mat 16:2) 55 And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, ‘There will be scorching heat,’ and it happens. (Mat 20:12; Luk 12:54) 56 You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky, but why do you not know how to interpret the present time? (Mat 16:3) 



57 “And why do you not judge for yourselves what is right? (Luk 21:30; Yu 7:24; 1 Ko 11:13) 58 As you go with your accuser before the magistrate, make an effort to settle with him on the way, lest he drag you to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the officer, and the officer put you in prison. (Özd 25:8; Mat 5:25) 59 I tell you, you will never get out until you have paid the very last penny.”[10] (Mat 18:34; Mar 12:42; Luk 21:2)
