1-2 Sizler bir zamanlar içinde yaşadığınız suçlardan ve günahlardan ötürü ölüydünüz. Bu dünyanın gidişine ve havadaki hükümranlığın egemenine, yani söz dinlemeyen insanlarda şimdi etkin olan ruha uymaktaydınız. 3 Bir zamanlar hepimiz böyle insanların arasında, benliğin ve aklın isteklerini yerine getirerek benliğimizin tutkularına göre yaşıyorduk. Doğal olarak ötekiler gibi biz de gazap çocuklarıydık. 4-5 Ama merhameti bol olan Tanrı bizi çok sevdiği için, suçlarımızdan ötürü ölü olduğumuz halde, bizi Mesih'le birlikte yaşama kavuşturdu. O'nun lütfuyla kurtuldunuz. 6 Tanrı bizi Mesih İsa'da, Mesih'le birlikte diriltip göksel yerlerde oturttu. 7 Bunu, Mesih İsa'da bize gösterdiği iyilikle, lütfunun sonsuz zenginliğini gelecek çağlarda sergilemek için yaptı. 8 İman yoluyla, lütufla kurtuldunuz. Bu sizin başarınız değil, Tanrı'nın armağanıdır. 9 Kimsenin övünmemesi için iyi işlerin ödülü değildir. 10 Çünkü biz Tanrı'nın yapıtıyız, O'nun önceden hazırladığı iyi işleri yapmak üzere Mesih İsa'da yaratıldık. 



11 Bunun için, öteki uluslardan doğan sizler bir zamanlar ne olduğunuzu anımsayın: Bedende elle yapılmış sünnete sahip olup ‹‹sünnetli›› diye anılanların ‹‹sünnetsiz›› dedikleri sizler, 12 o zaman Mesihsiz, İsrail'de vatandaşlıktan yoksun, vaade dayanan antlaşmalara yabancı, dünyada umutsuz ve tanrısızdınız. 13 Ama bir zamanlar uzak olan sizler, şimdi Mesih İsa'da Mesih'in kanı sayesinde yakın kılındınız. 14-16 Çünkü Mesih'in kendisi barışımızdır. Kutsal Yasa'yı, buyrukları ve kurallarıyla birlikte etkisiz kılarak iki topluluğu birleştirdi, aradaki engel duvarını, yani düşmanlığı kendi bedeninde yıktı. Amacı bu iki topluluktan kendisinde yeni bir insan yaratarak esenliği sağlamak, düşmanlığı çarmıhta öldürmek ve çarmıh aracılığıyla bir bedende iki topluluğu Tanrı'yla barıştırmaktı. 17 O gelip hem uzakta olan sizlere hem de yakındakilere esenliği müjdeledi. 18 O'nun aracılığıyla hepimiz tek Ruh'ta Baba'nın huzuruna çıkabiliriz. 19 Böylece artık yabancı ve garip değil, kutsallarla birlikte yurttaş ve Tanrı'nın ev halkısınız. 20 Elçilerle peygamberlerden oluşan temel üzerine inşa edildiniz. Köşe taşı Mesih İsa'nın kendisidir. 21 Bütün yapı Rab'be ait kutsal bir tapınak olmak üzere O'nda kenetlenip yükseliyor. 22 Siz de Ruh aracılığıyla Tanrı'nın konutu olmak üzere hep birlikte Mesih'te inşa ediliyorsunuz.

1 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins (Luk 15:24; Ef 2:5; Ef 4:18; Kol 1:21; Kol 2:13) 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— (Yu 12:31; Rom 11:30; 1 Ko 6:11; Ef 4:17; Ef 4:22; Ef 5:6; Ef 5:8; Ef 6:12; Kol 3:7; 1 Pe 1:14; Va 9:11) 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body[1] and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.[2] (Mez 51:5; Rom 5:12; Gal 5:16; 2 Pe 2:14) 4 But[3] God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, (Yu 3:16; Rom 2:4; Ef 2:7; Tit 3:5) 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— (Yu 14:19; Elç 15:11; Rom 5:6; Rom 5:8; Rom 5:10; Ef 2:1; Ef 2:8; Kol 2:12; Va 20:4) 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, (Ef 1:20) 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. (Ef 2:4; Tit 3:4) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, (Yu 4:10; Rom 4:16; 2 Ko 3:5; Ef 2:5; İbr 6:4; 1 Pe 1:5) 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 11 Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands— (Rom 2:26; Rom 2:28; Kol 2:11; Kol 2:13) 12 remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. (Hez 14:5; Rom 9:4; 1 Ko 12:2; Gal 2:15; Gal 4:8; Ef 1:18; Ef 4:18; Ef 5:8; Kol 1:21; Kol 3:7; 1 Se 4:13) 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. (Elç 2:39; Rom 3:25; Ef 2:17; Kol 1:20) 14 For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility (Mez 72:7; Mik 5:5; Zek 9:10; Luk 2:14; Rom 7:4; Gal 3:28; Kol 1:21; Kol 3:15) 15 by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, (Rom 6:4; Kol 2:14; Kol 2:20) 16 and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. (1 Ko 12:13; Kol 1:20) 17 And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. (Yas 4:7; Mez 148:14; Yşa 57:19; Ef 2:13) 18 For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. (Yu 4:23; Yu 10:7; Yu 10:9; Yu 14:6; Rom 5:2; 1 Ko 12:13; Ef 3:12; Ef 4:4) 19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens,[4] but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, (Gal 6:10; Ef 2:12; Flp 3:20; İbr 11:13; İbr 12:22; İbr 13:14) 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, (Mez 118:22; Yşa 28:16; Yer 12:16; Mat 16:18; 1 Ko 3:9; 1 Ko 3:11; Va 21:14) 21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. (1 Ko 3:16; Ef 4:15) 22 In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by[5] the Spirit. (2 Ko 6:16; Ef 3:17; 1 Ti 3:15; 1 Pe 2:5)
