Davids Wunsch, dem Herrn einen Tempel zu bauen. Gottes Verheißung für David und sein Königtum
1Und es geschah, als der König in seinem Haus wohnte und der HERR ihm Ruhe gegeben hatte vor allen seinen Feinden ringsumher, (Jos 21,44; Jos 23,1; 1Chr 17,1; Ps 18,1)2da sprach der König zu dem Propheten Nathan: Siehe doch, ich wohne in einem Haus aus Zedernholz, aber die Lade Gottes wohnt unter Teppichen! (2Sam 5,11; 2Sam 7,5; Ps 69,10; Apg 7,46)3Und Nathan sprach zum König: Geh hin und tue alles, was dir am Herzen liegt, denn der HERR ist mit dir! (1Sam 10,7; 1Kön 8,18; Spr 16,1)4Aber es geschah in derselben Nacht, da erging das Wort des HERRN an Nathan so: (4Mo 12,6; 1Chr 17,3; Am 3,7)5Geh hin und rede zu meinem Knecht, zu David: So spricht der HERR: Solltest du mir ein Haus bauen, dass ich darin wohne? (1Kön 5,17; 1Chr 22,8; Apg 13,22)6Denn ich habe in keinem Haus gewohnt von dem Tag an, als ich die Kinder Israels aus Ägypten heraufführte, bis zu diesem Tag, sondern ich bin stets in einem Zelt und in einer Wohnung[1] umhergezogen! (2Mo 40,38; Jos 18,1; 1Kön 8,16)7Wo ich auch immer umherzog mit allen Kindern Israels, habe ich auch jemals ein Wort geredet zu einem der Stammeshäupter Israels, denen ich gebot, mein Volk Israel zu weiden, und gesagt: Warum baut ihr mir kein Haus aus Zedernholz? (3Mo 26,12; 5Mo 23,14; Apg 17,24)8So sprich nun zu meinem Knecht David: So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen: Ich habe dich von der Weide hinter den Schafen weggenommen, damit du Fürst würdest über mein Volk, über Israel; (1Sam 9,16; 1Sam 10,1; 1Sam 16,11; 2Sam 6,21; 2Sam 12,7; Ps 78,70)9und ich bin überall mit dir gewesen, wohin du gegangen bist, und habe alle deine Feinde vor dir her ausgerottet und dir einen großen Namen gemacht, gleich dem Namen der Gewaltigen auf Erden. (1Mo 12,2; 1Sam 18,14; 2Sam 22,38)10Und ich werde für mein Volk Israel einen Ort bereiten und werde es einpflanzen, dass es dort bleiben und nicht mehr beunruhigt werden soll; und die Söhne der Bosheit sollen es nicht mehr bedrängen wie zuvor, (Ps 80,9; Jes 60,18; Jes 60,21; Lk 1,74)11seit der Zeit, als ich Richter über mein Volk Israel eingesetzt habe. Und ich habe dir vor allen deinen Feinden Ruhe verschafft; so verkündigt dir nun der HERR, dass der HERR dir ein Haus bauen wird! (Ri 2,14; 1Kön 11,38; Hi 34,29)12Wenn deine Tage erfüllt sind und du bei deinen Vätern liegst, so will ich deinen Samen nach dir erwecken, der aus deinem Leib kommen wird, und ich werde sein Königtum befestigen. (1Kön 2,10; 1Kön 8,20; Ps 132,11; Apg 13,36)13Der wird meinem Namen ein Haus bauen, und ich werde den Thron seines Königreichs auf ewig befestigen. (Ps 89,27; Hebr 1,5)15Aber meine Gnade soll nicht von ihm weichen, wie ich sie von Saul weichen ließ, den ich vor dir beseitigt habe; (1Sam 15,23; 1Kön 11,13; Ps 89,29)16sondern dein Haus und dein Königreich sollen ewig Bestand haben vor deinem Angesicht; dein Thron soll auf ewig fest stehen! Davids Dankgebet
17Alle diese Worte und diese ganze Offenbarung teilte Nathan dem David mit. (1Chr 17,15; Apg 20,27)18Da kam der König David und setzte sich vor dem HERRN nieder und sprach: Wer bin ich, HERR, du [mein] Herr, und was ist mein Haus, dass du mich bis hierher gebracht hast? (1Sam 18,18; 1Chr 17,16; Lk 1,48; Eph 3,8)19Und das war noch zu wenig in deinen Augen, HERR, du [mein] Herr; sondern du hast über das Haus deines Knechtes noch von ferner Zukunft geredet, und zwar, HERR, [mein] Herr, als Weisung für den Menschen! (1Chr 17,17; Ps 8,5)20Was kann da David weiter zu dir sagen? Du kennst ja deinen Knecht, HERR, du [mein] Herr! (1Sam 16,7; Ps 139,1; Joh 2,24)21Um deines Wortes willen und nach deinem Herzen hast du all dies Große getan, um es deinem Knecht zu verkünden! (4Mo 23,19; 2Sam 22,31; 1Chr 17,19)22Darum bist du, HERR Gott, auch so hoch erhaben; denn dir ist niemand gleich, und es gibt keinen Gott außer dir, nach allem, was wir mit unseren Ohren gehört haben! (5Mo 3,24; 1Chr 17,19; Ps 86,8; Ps 86,10)23Und wer ist wie dein Volk, wie Israel, die einzige Nation auf Erden, um derentwillen Gott hingegangen ist, sie als Volk für sich zu erlösen und sich einen Namen zu machen und so großartige und furchtgebietende Taten für dein Land zu tun vor dem Angesicht deines Volkes, das du dir aus Ägypten, [von] den Heidenvölkern und ihren Göttern erlöst hast? (2Mo 9,16; 5Mo 4,34; Ps 33,12; Ps 44,3)24Und du hast dir dein Volk Israel fest gegründet, damit es auf ewig dein Volk sei; und du, o HERR, bist ihr Gott geworden! (1Mo 17,7; 5Mo 26,18; Jer 11,4; Röm 11,28)25So erfülle nun, HERR Gott, auf ewig das Wort, das du über deinen Knecht und über sein Haus geredet hast, und tue, wie du geredet hast, (Ps 119,49; Hes 36,37)26damit man ewiglich deinen Namen erhebe und sage: Der HERR der Heerscharen ist Gott über Israel! Und das Haus deines Knechtes David möge vor dir Bestand haben! (1Kön 18,36; Ps 48,15; Ps 61,7; Ps 89,36; Mt 15,31; Joh 12,28)27Denn du, HERR der Heerscharen, du Gott Israels, hast dem Ohr deines Knechts geoffenbart und gesagt: Ich will dir ein Haus bauen! Darum hat dein Knecht den Mut gefunden, dieses Gebet zu dir zu beten. (Rut 4,4; 2Sam 7,11; 1Chr 17,25)28Und nun, HERR, [mein] Herr, du bist Gott, und deine Worte sind Wahrheit, und du hast deinem Knecht so viel Gutes zugesagt. God’s promise to David
1The king moved into his palace. The LORD had given him peace and rest from all his enemies around him.2Then the king spoke to Nathan the prophet. He said, ‘Here I am, living in a house that has beautiful cedar walls. But the ark of God remains in a tent.’3Nathan replied to the king, ‘Go ahead and do what you want to. The LORD is with you.’4But that night the word of the LORD came to Nathan. The LORD said,5‘Go and speak to my servant David. Tell him, “The LORD says, ‘Are you the one to build me a house to live in?6I brought the Israelites up out of Egypt. But I have not lived in a house from then until now. I have been moving from place to place. I have been living in a tent.7I have moved from place to place with all the Israelites. I commanded their rulers to be shepherds over them. I never asked any of those rulers, “Why haven’t you built me a house that has beautiful cedar walls?” ’ ”8‘So tell my servant David, “The LORD who rules over all says, ‘I took you away from the grasslands. That’s where you were taking care of your father’s sheep and goats. I made you ruler over my people Israel.9I have been with you everywhere you have gone. I have destroyed all your enemies. Now I will make you famous. Your name will be just as respected as the names of the most important people on earth.10I will provide a place where my people Israel can live. I will plant them in the land. Then they will have a home of their own. They will not be bothered anymore. Evil people will no longer crush them, as they did at first.11That is what your enemies have done ever since I appointed leaders over my people Israel. But I will give you peace and rest from all of them. ‘ “ ‘I tell you that I, the LORD, will set up a royal house for you.12Some day your life will come to an end. You will join the members of your family who have already died. Then I will make one of your own sons the next king after you. And I will make his kingdom secure.13He is the one who will build a house where I will put my Name. I will set up the throne of his kingdom. It will last for ever.14I will be his father. And he will be my son. When he does what is wrong, I will use other men to beat him with rods and whips.15I took my love away from Saul. I removed him from being king. You were there when I did it. But I will never take my love away from your son.16Your royal house and your kingdom will last for ever in my sight. Your throne will last for ever.’ ” ’17Nathan reported to David all the words that the LORD had spoken to him.
David’s prayer to the Lord
18Then King David went into the holy tent. He sat down in front of the LORD. He said, ‘LORD and King, who am I? My family isn’t important. So why have you brought me this far?19I would have thought that you had already done more than enough for me. But now, LORD and King, you have also said what will happen to my royal house in days to come. And, my LORD and King, this promise is for a mere human being!20‘What more can I say to you? LORD and King, you know all about me.21You have done a wonderful thing. You have made it known to me. You have done it because that’s what you said you would do. It’s exactly what you wanted to do for me.22‘LORD and King, how great you are! There isn’t anyone like you. There isn’t any God but you. We have heard about it with our own ears.23Who is like your people Israel? God, we are the one nation on earth you have saved. You have set us free for yourself. Your name has become famous. You have done great and wonderful things. You have driven out nations and their gods to make room for your people. You saved us when you set us free from Egypt.24You made Israel your very own people for ever. LORD, you have become our God.25‘And now, LORD God, keep for ever the promise you have made to me and my royal house. Do exactly as you promised.26Then your name will be honoured for ever. People will say, “The LORD rules over all. He is God over Israel.” My royal house will be made secure in your sight.27‘LORD who rules over all, you are the God of Israel. Here’s what you have shown me. You told me, “I will build you a royal house.” So I can boldly pray this prayer to you.28LORD and King, you are God! Your covenant can be trusted. You have promised many good things to me.29Now please bless my royal house. Then it will continue for ever in your sight. LORD and King, you have spoken. Because you have given my royal house your blessing, it will be blessed for ever.’
