Josua erobert den nördlichen Teil des Landes

1 Es geschah aber, als Jabin, der König von Hazor, dies hörte, da sandte er Botschaft zu Jobab, dem König von Madon, und zu dem König von Simron und zu dem König von Achschaph (Jos 11,10; Jos 12,20; Jos 19,15; Jos 19,36; Ri 4,2; 1Kön 9,15; 2Kön 15,29)

2 und zu den Königen, die gegen Norden, im Bergland und in der Arava südlich vom [See] Genezareth und in der Schephela und im Hügelland von Dor gegen Westen wohnten, (4Mo 34,11; Jos 12,23; Jos 19,35; Ri 1,27; 1Kön 4,11)

3 und zu den Kanaanitern gegen Osten und gegen Westen, zu den Amoritern, den Hetitern, den Pheresitern und den Jebusitern im Bergland und zu den Hewitern am Fuß des Hermon im Land Mizpa. (4Mo 13,29; 5Mo 3,8; Jos 11,8; Jos 12,5; Jos 13,5; Jos 13,11; Ri 3,3)

4 Und diese zogen aus mit allen ihren Heeren, ein großes Volk, so zahlreich wie der Sand, der am Ufer des Meeres ist, mit sehr vielen Rossen und Streitwagen. (Ri 7,12; 1Sam 13,5; 2Kön 6,15; 2Chr 32,7; Ps 20,8)

5 Alle diese Könige trafen zusammen und kamen und lagerten sich miteinander am Wasser Merom, um mit Israel zu kämpfen. (5Mo 2,32; Ps 48,5) 6 Und der HERR sprach zu Josua: Fürchte dich nicht vor ihnen, denn morgen um diese Zeit gebe ich sie alle erschlagen vor Israel dahin! Ihre Rosse sollst du lähmen und ihre Streitwagen mit Feuer verbrennen! (Jos 10,8; 2Sam 8,4; Ps 33,16; Ps 46,10; Hes 39,9)

7 Und Josua und das ganze Kriegsvolk mit ihm kam plötzlich über sie am Wasser Merom und fiel über sie her; (Jos 10,9; 1Thess 5,3) 8 und der HERR gab sie in die Hand Israels; und sie schlugen sie und jagten sie bis zu der großen [Stadt] Zidon und bis Misrephot-Majim und bis zum Tal Mizpe, gegen Osten; und sie schlugen sie, bis von ihnen nicht einer übrig blieb, der entkommen wäre. 9 Da machte es Josua mit ihnen, wie es der HERR ihm gesagt hatte: Ihre Rosse lähmte er, und ihre Streitwagen verbrannte er mit Feuer. (Jos 11,6; Hes 39,9) 10 Und Josua kehrte um zu jener Zeit und eroberte Hazor und schlug seinen König mit dem Schwert; denn Hazor war zuvor das mächtigste von allen diesen Königreichen; (Jos 11,1; Ri 4,2) 11 und sie schlugen alle Leute, die darin waren, mit der Schärfe des Schwertes, und vollstreckten den Bann an ihnen, sodass nichts übrig blieb, was Odem hatte; und er verbrannte Hazor mit Feuer. (Jos 6,21; Jos 6,24; Jos 10,40) 12 Und Josua eroberte alle Städte dieser Könige samt allen ihren Königen und schlug sie mit der Schärfe des Schwertes und vollstreckte den Bann an ihnen — wie es Mose, der Knecht des HERRN, geboten hatte. (5Mo 7,2; 5Mo 7,16; 5Mo 20,16) 13 Aber Israel verbrannte keine der Städte, die auf ihrem Hügel standen; ausgenommen Hazor, das allein verbrannte Josua. (Jos 24,13; Neh 9,25) 14 Und die Söhne Israels teilten unter sich alle Beute dieser Städte und das Vieh; aber alle Menschen schlugen sie mit der Schärfe des Schwertes, bis sie dieselben vertilgt hatten, sodass nichts übrig blieb, was Odem hatte. (5Mo 2,34; 5Mo 3,6) 15 Wie der HERR seinem Knecht Mose geboten hatte, so hatte Mose dem Josua Anweisung gegeben, und genau so tat es Josua; er ließ nichts ungetan von all dem, was der HERR dem Mose geboten hatte. (4Mo 33,50; 5Mo 31,3) 16 So nahm Josua dieses ganze Land ein: das Bergland und den ganzen Negev und das ganze Land Gosen und die Schephela und die Arava und das Bergland Israels mit seinen Tälern; (Jos 10,41; Hes 36,1; Hes 36,8) 17 von dem kahlen Gebirge an, das sich gegen Seir erhebt, bis nach Baal-Gad im Tal des Libanon, am Fuß des Berges Hermon. Und alle ihre Könige nahm er gefangen und schlug sie und tötete sie. (1Mo 27,39; 5Mo 7,24; Jos 11,3; Jos 12,1; Jos 12,7; Jos 24,4)

18 Lange Zeit führte Josua Krieg mit allen diesen Königen. (Jos 11,23; Jos 14,7) 19 Und es gab keine Stadt, die sich den Söhnen Israels friedlich ergab, ausgenommen die Hewiter, die in Gibeon wohnten; sie nahmen dieselben alle im Kampf ein. (Jos 9,3; Jos 9,15) 20 Denn es geschah von dem HERRN, dass ihr Herz verstockt wurde, sodass sie mit den Söhnen Israels kämpften, damit an ihnen der Bann vollstreckt würde und ihnen keine Gnade zuteil würde, sondern dass sie vertilgt würden — so wie der HERR es Mose geboten hatte. 21 Und Josua kam zu jener Zeit und rottete die Enakiter aus von dem Bergland, von Hebron, von Debir, von Anab, von dem ganzen Bergland Judas und dem ganzen Bergland Israels; und Josua vollstreckte den Bann an ihnen samt ihren Städten. 22 Und er ließ keinen Enakiter übrig bleiben im Land der Söhne Israels, außer in Gaza, in Gat und in Asdod; dort blieb ein Rest übrig. (Jos 15,46; 1Sam 5,1; 1Sam 17,4; 2Sam 21,16)

23 So nahm Josua das ganze Land ein, genau so, wie der HERR zu Mose geredet hatte; und Josua gab es Israel zum Erbe, jedem Stamm seinen Teil; und das Land ruhte aus vom Krieg. (4Mo 26,53; 4Mo 34,2; 5Mo 12,10; Jos 1,13; Jos 14,1; Hi 34,29; Hebr 4,10; Offb 14,13)

1 And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor had heard those things , that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph, 2 And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains south of Chinneroth, and in the valley, and in the borders of Dor on the west, 3 And to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpeh. 4 And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is upon the sea shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many. 5 And when all these kings were met together, they came and pitched together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel. 6 And the LORD said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire. 7 So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly; and they fell upon them. 8 And the LORD delivered them into the hand of Israel, who smote them, and chased them unto great Zidon, and unto Misrephothmaim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining. 9 And Joshua did unto them as the LORD bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire. 10 And Joshua at that time turned back, and took Hazor, and smote the king thereof with the sword: for Hazor beforetime was the head of all those kingdoms. 11 And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them : there was not any left to breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire. 12 And all the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, did Joshua take, and smote them with the edge of the sword, and he utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the LORD commanded. 13 But as for the cities that stood still in their strength, Israel burned none of them, save Hazor only; that did Joshua burn. 14 And all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Israel took for a prey unto themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any to breathe. 15 As the LORD commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses. 16 So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same; 17 Even from the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even unto Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and smote them, and slew them. 18 Joshua made war a long time with all those kings. 19 There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle. 20 For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might destroy them, as the LORD commanded Moses. 21 And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities. 22 There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained. 23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.
