Samuel legt sein Richteramt nieder

1 Samuel aber sprach zu ganz Israel: Siehe, ich habe eurer Stimme gehorcht in allem, was ihr mir gesagt habt, und habe einen König über euch gesetzt. (1Sam 8,19; 1Sam 10,24; 1Sam 11,14) 2 Und nun siehe, da geht euer König vor euch her; ich aber bin alt und grau geworden; und siehe, meine Söhne sind bei euch. Ich aber bin vor euch hergegangen von meiner Jugend an bis zu diesem Tag. (1Sam 8,1; 1Sam 8,5; 1Sam 8,20) 3 Hier bin ich! Legt Zeugnis ab gegen mich vor dem HERRN und vor seinem Gesalbten: Wessen Ochsen habe ich genommen? Oder wessen Esel habe ich genommen? Wen habe ich übervorteilt? Wen habe ich misshandelt? Von wessen Hand habe ich Bestechungsgeld genommen, dass ich ihm zuliebe ein Auge zudrückte? So will ich es euch erstatten! (3Mo 5,23; 4Mo 16,15; 5Mo 16,19; Apg 20,33; 2Kor 7,2; 1Thess 2,5)

4 Sie sprachen: Du hast uns nie übervorteilt, noch uns unterdrückt, noch von jemandes Hand irgendetwas genommen! (3Joh 1,12) 5 Er sprach: Der HERR ist Zeuge gegen euch, und sein Gesalbter ist Zeuge am heutigen Tag, dass ihr gar nichts in meiner Hand gefunden habt! Und sie sprachen: Er ist Zeuge! 6 Und Samuel sprach zum Volk: Der HERR ist es, der Mose und Aaron eingesetzt und eure Väter aus dem Land Ägypten geführt hat! (2Mo 6,26; Ps 77,21; Mi 6,4) 7 So tretet nun her, dass ich mit euch rechte vor dem HERRN wegen aller gerechten Taten des HERRN, die er an euch und an euren Vätern getan hat! (2Mo 5,1; Jes 1,18; Mi 6,3) 8 Als Jakob nach Ägypten gekommen war, da schrien eure Väter zum HERRN. Und der HERR sandte Mose und Aaron, und sie führten eure Väter aus Ägypten und ließen sie an diesem Ort wohnen. 12 Als ihr aber saht, dass Nahas, der König der Ammoniter, gegen euch heranzog, da spracht ihr zu mir: »Nein, sondern ein König soll über uns herrschen!«, obwohl doch der HERR, euer Gott, euer König ist. (Ri 8,7; Ri 8,23; 1Sam 10,19; 1Sam 11,1; Jes 33,22)

13 Und nun, seht, da ist euer König, den ihr erwählt, den ihr begehrt habt; denn siehe, der HERR hat einen König über euch gesetzt! (Hos 13,11) 14 Wenn ihr nur den HERRN fürchtet und ihm dient und seiner Stimme gehorcht und gegen den Befehl des HERRN nicht widerspenstig seid, und wenn nur ihr und euer König, der über euch herrscht, dem HERRN, eurem Gott, nachfolgt! (5Mo 4,5; 5Mo 13,4; Pred 7,18) 15 Wenn ihr aber der Stimme des HERRN nicht gehorcht, sondern gegen den Befehl des HERRN widerspenstig seid, so wird die Hand des HERRN gegen euch sein wie gegen eure Väter! 16 Jetzt aber tretet herzu und seht, was für eine große Sache der HERR vor euren Augen tun wird! (2Mo 14,13; 2Mo 14,31; 1Sam 12,7; 1Sam 15,16)

17 Ist nicht jetzt die Weizenernte? Ich aber will den HERRN anrufen, dass er es donnern und regnen lässt,^[1] damit ihr erkennt und einseht, dass eure Bosheit groß ist, die ihr vor den Augen des HERRN begangen habt, indem ihr für euch einen König begehrt habt! (Jer 14,22; Jak 5,16) 18 Da rief Samuel den HERRN an, und der HERR ließ es donnern und regnen an jenem Tag. Da fürchtete das ganze Volk den HERRN und Samuel sehr. (2Mo 14,31; Jos 10,12; Ps 99,6) 19 Und das ganze Volk sprach zu Samuel: Bitte den HERRN, deinen Gott, für deine Knechte, damit wir nicht sterben; denn zu allen unseren Sünden haben wir noch die Bosheit hinzugefügt, dass wir für uns einen König begehrten! (2Mo 9,27; Jes 26,16; 1Joh 5,16) 20 Samuel aber sprach zum Volk: Fürchtet euch nicht! Ihr habt zwar all dieses Böse getan; doch weicht nicht von der Nachfolge des HERRN ab, sondern dient dem HERRN von ganzem Herzen! (5Mo 11,16; Jos 24,23) 21 Und weicht nicht ab zu den nichtigen Götzen; sie nützen euch nichts und können euch nicht erretten, denn sie sind nichtig. 23 Es sei aber auch ferne von mir, mich an dem HERRN zu versündigen, dass ich aufhören sollte, für euch zu beten und euch den guten und richtigen Weg zu lehren! (Ps 32,8; Ps 119,33; Ps 122,6; Ps 137,5; Hes 14,10; Röm 1,9; Kol 1,9)

24 So fürchtet nun den HERRN und dient ihm in Wahrheit, mit eurem ganzen Herzen; denn seht, wie mächtig er sich an euch erwiesen hat! (5Mo 10,12; 5Mo 29,2; 1Sam 12,14) 25 Wenn ihr aber dennoch Böses tut, so werdet ihr samt eurem König weggerafft werden! (5Mo 28,36; Jos 24,20)

I will call unto the LORD, and he shall send thunder and rain; that ye may perceive and see that your wickedness is great, which ye have done in the sight of the LORD, in asking you a king. 18 So Samuel called unto the LORD; and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel. 19 And all the people said unto Samuel, Pray for thy servants unto the LORD thy God, that we die not: for we have added unto all our sins this evil, to ask us a king. 20 And Samuel said unto the people, Fear not: ye have done all this wickedness: yet turn not aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart; 21 And turn ye not aside: for then should ye go after vain things , which cannot profit nor deliver; for they are vain. 22 For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name' sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you his people. 23 Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way: 24 Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you. 25 But if ye shall still do wickedly, ye shall be consumed, both ye and your king.
