Der Kampf gegen die Midianiter
15Als nun Gideon die Erzählung des Traumes und seine Auslegung hörte, da betete er an. Und er kehrte wieder in das Lager Israels zurück und sprach: Macht euch auf, denn der HERR hat das Lager der Midianiter in eure Hand gegeben! (1Mo 24,26; 2Mo 4,30; Ps 29,1; Ps 95,6)16Und er teilte die 300 Mann in drei Abteilungen und gab ihnen allen Schopharhörner in die Hand und leere Krüge und brennende Fackeln darin;17und er sprach zu ihnen: Schaut auf mich, und macht es ebenso! Siehe, wenn ich an den Rand des Heerlagers komme, dann macht auch ihr es, wie ich es mache! (Ri 9,48; Mt 16,24; 1Kor 11,1; Eph 5,1; 1Thess 1,6; Hebr 13,7)18Wenn ich und alle, die mit mir sind, in das Horn stoßen, so sollt auch ihr rings um das ganze Lager in die Hörner stoßen und rufen: »Für den HERRN und Gideon!« (Jos 6,10; Ri 7,20)19Als nun Gideon und die 100 Mann, die bei ihm waren, an den Rand des Heerlagers kamen, zu Beginn der mittleren Nachtwache, als man eben die Wachen aufgestellt hatte, stießen sie in die Hörner und zerschlugen die Krüge in ihren Händen. Gideon’s Three Hundred Men
1Then Jerubbaal (that is, Gideon) and all the people who were with him rose early and encamped beside the spring of Harod. And the camp of Midian was north of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley. (1Mo 12,6; 5Mo 11,30; Ri 6,32; 1Sam 29,1)2The Lord said to Gideon, “The people with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, lest Israel boast over me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.’ (5Mo 8,17; Jes 10,13)3Now therefore proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, ‘Whoever is fearful and trembling, let him return home and hurry away from Mount Gilead.’” Then 22,000 of the people returned, and 10,000 remained. (5Mo 20,8)4And the Lord said to Gideon, “The people are still too many. Gideon Defeats Midian
19So Gideon and the hundred men who were with him came to the outskirts of the camp at the beginning of the middle watch, when they had just set the watch. And they blew the trumpets and smashed the jars that were in their hands.20Then the three companies blew the trumpets and broke the jars. They held in their left hands the torches, and in their right hands the trumpets to blow. And they cried out, “A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!” (Ri 7,18)21Every man stood in his place around the camp, and all the army ran. They cried out and fled. (2Kön 7,7)22When they blew the 300 trumpets, the Lord set every man’s sword against his comrade and against all the army. And the army fled as far as Beth-shittah toward Zererah,[1] as far as the border of Abel-meholah, by Tabbath.
