Elia flieht vor Isebel

1 Und Ahab erzählte der Isebel alles, was Elia getan hatte, und wie er alle Propheten mit dem Schwert umgebracht hatte. (1Kön 18,40) 2 Da sandte Isebel einen Boten zu Elia und ließ ihm sagen: Die Götter sollen mir dies und das tun, wenn ich morgen um diese Zeit mit deinem Leben nicht so verfahre wie du mit ihrem Leben! 3 Und als er das sah, machte er sich auf und ging fort um seines Lebens willen; und er kam nach Beerscheba, das zu Juda gehört, und ließ seinen Burschen dort zurück. (1Mo 21,31; 1Sam 27,1) 4 Er selbst aber ging hin in die Wüste, eine Tagereise weit, und er kam und setzte sich unter einen Ginsterstrauch. Und er erbat für sich den Tod und sprach: Es ist genug! 6 Und als er sich umsah, siehe, da war bei seinem Kopf ein auf heißen Steinen gebackener Brotfladen und ein Krug Wasser. Und als er gegessen und getrunken hatte, legte er sich wieder schlafen. (1Kön 17,6; Jes 33,16)

Der Herr begegnet Elia am Berg Horeb

7 Und der Engel des HERRN kam zum zweiten Mal und rührte ihn an und sprach: Steh auf und iss, denn der Weg ist [sonst] zu weit für dich! 11 Er aber sprach: Komm heraus und tritt auf den Berg vor den HERRN! Und siehe, der HERR ging vorüber; und ein großer, starker Wind, der die Berge zerriss und die Felsen zerbrach, ging vor dem HERRN her; der HERR aber war nicht in dem Wind. Elisa wird zum Nachfolger Elias berufen

Elijah Flees Jezebel

1 Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. (1Kön 18,40) 2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So may the gods do to me and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by this time tomorrow.” (Rut 1,17; 1Kön 20,10) 3 Then he was afraid, and he arose and ran for his life and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there. (1Mo 21,31) 4 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a broom tree. The Lord Speaks to Elijah

9 There he came to a cave and lodged in it. And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” (1Kön 19,13) 10 He said, “I have been very jealous for the Lord, the God of hosts. The Call of Elisha

19 So he departed from there and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen in front of him, and he was with the twelfth. Elijah passed by him and cast his cloak upon him. (2Kön 2,8) 20 And he left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said, “Let me kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you.” And he said to him, “Go back again, for what have I done to you?” (Mt 8,21; Lk 9,61) 21 And he returned from following him and took the yoke of oxen and sacrificed them and boiled their flesh with the yokes of the oxen and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he arose and went after Elijah and assisted him. (2Sam 24,22)
