1Lord, remember David and all his self-denial.2He swore an oath to the Lord, he made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:3‘I will not enter my house or go to my bed,4I will allow no sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids,5till I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.’6We heard it in Ephrathah, we came upon it in the fields of Jaar:[1] (1Ch 13:5; 1Ch 13:6)7‘Let us go to his dwelling-place, let us worship at his footstool, saying,8“Arise, Lord, and come to your resting-place, you and the ark of your might.9May your priests be clothed with your righteousness; may your faithful people sing for joy.” ’10For the sake of your servant David, do not reject your anointed one.11The Lord swore an oath to David, a sure oath he will not revoke: ‘One of your own descendants I will place on your throne.12If your sons keep my covenant and the statutes I teach them, then their sons shall sit on your throne for ever and ever.’13For the Lord has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling, saying,14‘This is my resting-place for ever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it.15I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor I will satisfy with food.16I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her faithful people shall ever sing for joy.17‘Here I will make a horn[2] grow for David and set up a lamp for my anointed one.18I will clothe his enemies with shame, but his head shall be adorned with a radiant crown.’

1-5ای خداوند، داوود و سختيهای او را فراموش مكن. به ياد آور كه چگونه نزد تو قسم خورد و نذر كرد كه تا مكانی برای عبادتگاه دائمی تو پيدا نكند، در خانهٔ خود راحت ننشيند و خواب به چشمانش راه ندهد و آرام نگيرد.6در«بيتلحم» راجع به صندوق عهد تو شنيديم، و در صحرای«يعاريم» آن را يافتيم.7گفتيم: «بياييد به حضور خداوند وارد شويم و در پيشگاه او عبادت كنيم.»8ای خداوند، برخيز و همراه صندوق عهد خود كه نشانهٔ قدرت توست به عبادتگاه خود بيا!9باشد كه كاهنان تو جامهٔ پاكی و راستی را در بر كنند و قوم تو با شادی سرود خوانند!10ای خداوند، به خاطر بندهات داوود، پادشاه برگزيدهات را ترک مكن.11تو به داوود وعده فرمودی كه هميشه يكی از فرزندانش وارث تخت و تاج او خواهد شد، و تو به وعدهات عمل خواهی كرد.12و نيز به داوود گفتی كه اگر فرزندانش از احكام تو اطاعت كنند، نسل اندر نسل سلطنت خواهند كرد.13ای خداوند، تو اورشليم را برگزيدهای تا در آن ساكن شوی.14تو فرمودی: «تا ابد در اينجا ساكن خواهم بود، زيرا اينچنين اراده نمودهام.15آذوقهٔ اين شهر را بركت خواهم داد و فقيرانش را با نان سير خواهم نمود.16كاهنانش را در خدمتی كه میكنند بركت خواهم داد، و مردمش با شادی سرود خواهند خواند.17در اينجا قدرت داوود را خواهم افزود و چراغ خاندان او را روشن نگه خواهم داشت.18دشمنان او را با رسوايی خواهم پوشاند، اما سلطنت او شكوهمند خواهد بود.»
