1Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! (مز 100:5; مز 105:1)2Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble[1] (مز 106:10; إش 62:12; إش 63:4)3and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south. 39:27)4Some wandered in desert wastes, finding no way to a city to dwell in; (تث 32:10; مز 107:36; مز 107:40)5hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them. (مز 77:3)6Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. (مز 106:44; مز 107:13; مز 107:19; مز 107:28)7He led them by a straight way till they reached a city to dwell in. (عز 8:21; مز 107:4)8Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! (مز 107:15; مز 107:21; مز 107:31)9For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things. (مز 34:10; مز 146:7; لو 1:53)10Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, prisoners in affliction and in irons, (أي 10:21; أي 36:8; مز 107:14; إش 42:7; إش 49:9; مي 7:8; لو 1:79)11for they had rebelled against the words of God, and spurned the counsel of the Most High. 7:30)12So he bowed their hearts down with hard labor; they fell down, with none to help. (مز 22:11)13Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. (مز 107:6; مز 107:19; مز 107:28)14He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and burst their bonds apart. (مز 2:3; مز 107:10)15Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! (مز 107:8; مز 107:21; مز 107:31)16For he shatters the doors of bronze and cuts in two the bars of iron. (إش 45:2)17Some were fools through their sinful ways, and because of their iniquities suffered affliction; (أم 1:7; أم 14:9)18they loathed any kind of food, and they drew near to the gates of death. (أي 33:20; أي 33:22; أي 38:17; مز 88:3)19Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. (مز 107:6; مز 107:13; مز 107:28)20He sent out his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction. 8:8)21Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! (مز 107:8; مز 107:15; مز 107:31)22And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, and tell of his deeds in songs of joy! (مز 9:11; مز 50:14; مز 105:43; مز 118:17)23Some went down to the sea in ships, doing business on the great waters; (إش 42:10)24they saw the deeds of the Lord, his wondrous works in the deep.25For he commanded and raised the stormy wind, which lifted up the waves of the sea. (مز 105:31; مز 105:34; مز 148:8; يون 1:4)26They mounted up to heaven; they went down to the depths; their courage melted away in their evil plight; (مز 22:14; مز 119:28)27they reeled and staggered like drunken men and were at their wits’ end.[2] (أي 12:25; إش 19:3; إش 24:20; إش 29:9)28Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. (مز 107:6; مز 107:13; مز 107:19)29He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. (مز 65:7)30Then they were glad that the waters[3] were quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven.31Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! (مز 107:8; مز 107:15; مز 107:21)32Let them extol him in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders. (مز 22:22; مز 22:25; مز 99:5)33He turns rivers into a desert, springs of water into thirsty ground, (إش 42:15; إش 50:2)34a fruitful land into a salty waste, because of the evil of its inhabitants. (تك 13:10; تك 14:3; تك 19:24; تث 29:23)35He turns a desert into pools of water, a parched land into springs of water. 43:19)36And there he lets the hungry dwell, and they establish a city to live in; (مز 107:4; مز 107:7)37they sow fields and plant vineyards and get a fruitful yield.38By his blessing they multiply greatly, and he does not let their livestock diminish. (تك 12:2; تك 17:20; خر 1:7)39When they are diminished and brought low through oppression, evil, and sorrow,40he pours contempt on princes and makes them wander in trackless wastes; (تث 32:10; أي 12:21; أي 12:24)41but he raises up the needy out of affliction and makes their families like flocks. (1صم 2:8; أي 21:11; مز 113:7)42The upright see it and are glad, and all wickedness shuts its mouth. (أي 22:19; مز 63:11)43Whoever is wise, let him attend to these things; let them consider the steadfast love of the Lord.
