Apostelgeschichte 20

Lutherbibel 2017

(Apg 25,1)

Apostelgeschichte 20

King James Version

1 And after the uproar was ceased, Paul called unto him the disciples, and embraced them, and departed for to go into Macedonia.2 And when he had gone over those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece,3 And there abode three months. And when the Jews laid wait for him, as he was about to sail into Syria, he purposed to return through Macedonia.4 And there accompanied him into Asia Sopater of Berea; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.5 These going before tarried for us at Troas.6 And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days.7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.8 And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together.9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.11 When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.12 And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.13 And we went before to ship, and sailed unto Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so had he appointed, minding himself to go afoot.14 And when he met with us at Assos, we took him in, and came to Mitylene.15 And we sailed thence, and came the next day over against Chios; and the next day we arrived at Samos, and tarried at Trogyllium; and the next day we came to Miletus.16 For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.17 And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.18 And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,19 Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.33 I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel.34 Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.36 And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all.37 And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul's neck, and kissed him,38 Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship.

English Standard Version

1 After the uproar ceased, Paul sent for the disciples, and after encouraging them, he said farewell and departed for Macedonia. (Apg 19,21)2 When he had gone through those regions and had given them much encouragement, he came to Greece.3 There he spent three months, and when a plot was made against him by the Jews[1] as he was about to set sail for Syria, he decided to return through Macedonia. (Apg 9,24; Apg 13,50; Apg 20,19)4 Sopater the Berean, son of Pyrrhus, accompanied him; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy; and the Asians, Tychicus and Trophimus. (Apg 14,6; Apg 14,21; Apg 16,1; Apg 19,29; Apg 21,29; Eph 6,21; Kol 4,7; 2Tim 4,12; 2Tim 4,20; Tit 3,12)5 These went on ahead and were waiting for us at Troas, (Apg 16,8; Apg 20,6; Apg 20,13)6 but we sailed away from Philippi after the days of Unleavened Bread, and in five days we came to them at Troas, where we stayed for seven days. (2Mo 12,14; 2Mo 23,15; Apg 12,3)7 On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul talked with them, intending to depart on the next day, and he prolonged his speech until midnight. (Mk 16,9; Joh 20,19; Apg 2,42; Apg 20,11; 1Kor 10,16; 1Kor 11,23; 1Kor 16,2; Offb 1,10)8 There were many lamps in the upper room where we were gathered. (Apg 1,13; Apg 9,37; Apg 9,39)9 And a young man named Eutychus, sitting at the window, sank into a deep sleep as Paul talked still longer. And being overcome by sleep, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead. (2Kön 1,2)10 But Paul went down and bent over him, and taking him in his arms, said, “Do not be alarmed, for his life is in him.” (1Kön 17,21; 2Kön 4,34; Mt 9,23; Mk 5,39)11 And when Paul had gone up and had broken bread and eaten, he conversed with them a long while, until daybreak, and so departed. (Apg 20,7)12 And they took the youth away alive, and were not a little comforted.13 But going ahead to the ship, we set sail for Assos, intending to take Paul aboard there, for so he had arranged, intending himself to go by land.14 And when he met us at Assos, we took him on board and went to Mitylene.15 And sailing from there we came the following day opposite Chios; the next day we touched at Samos; and[2] the day after that we went to Miletus.16 For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so that he might not have to spend time in Asia, for he was hastening to be at Jerusalem, if possible, on the day of Pentecost. (Apg 2,1; Apg 19,21; Apg 20,6; Apg 20,22; Apg 24,11; 1Kor 16,8)17 Now from Miletus he sent to Ephesus and called the elders of the church to come to him. (Apg 11,30)18 And when they came to him, he said to them: “You yourselves know how I lived among you the whole time from the first day that I set foot in Asia, (Apg 18,19; Apg 19,1; Apg 19,10; Apg 20,31; Apg 20,34; 1Thess 1,5)19 serving the Lord with all humility and with tears and with trials that happened to me through the plots of the Jews; (Apg 20,3; Apg 20,31; Röm 12,11; 2Kor 2,4; Eph 4,2; Phil 3,18; Kol 3,24; 1Thess 2,6)20 how I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you in public and from house to house, (Apg 20,27; Apg 20,31)21 testifying both to Jews and to Greeks of repentance toward God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.[3] (Mk 1,15; Apg 2,38; Apg 18,5; Apg 20,24; Eph 1,15; Kol 1,4; 1Tim 3,13; Hebr 6,1)22 And now, behold, I am going to Jerusalem, constrained by[4] the Spirit, not knowing what will happen to me there, (Apg 17,16)23 except that the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city that imprisonment and afflictions await me. (Apg 8,29; Apg 9,16; Apg 14,22; Apg 21,4; Apg 21,11; Apg 21,33; 1Thess 3,3)24 But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God. (Apg 1,17; Apg 11,23; Apg 15,7; Apg 20,21; Apg 20,32; Apg 21,13; Apg 26,16; Gal 1,1; 1Thess 2,4; 1Tim 1,12; 1Tim 1,14; 2Tim 4,7; Tit 1,3)25 And now, behold, I know that none of you among whom I have gone about proclaiming the kingdom will see my face again. (Apg 28,31; Phil 1,25)26 Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all, (5Mo 8,19; Apg 18,6)27 for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God. (Jer 26,2; Hes 33,8; Lk 7,30; Apg 2,23; Apg 13,36; Apg 20,20; Eph 1,11; Hebr 6,17)28 Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God,[5] which he obtained with his own blood.[6] (Lk 12,32; Joh 21,16; Apg 13,2; Apg 20,17; Apg 20,29; 1Kor 1,2; 1Kor 10,32; 1Kor 11,16; 1Kor 12,8; 1Kor 15,9; Eph 1,7; Eph 4,11; Phil 1,1; 1Tim 3,2; 1Tim 4,16; Tit 1,7; Hebr 9,12; Hebr 9,14; 1Petr 1,18; 2Petr 2,1; 1Joh 1,7; Offb 5,9)29 I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; (Mt 7,15; Joh 10,12; Apg 20,28; Kol 2,8)30 and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them. (1Kor 11,19; 2Kor 11,13; 1Tim 1,19; 1Joh 2,18)31 Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years I did not cease night or day to admonish every one with tears. (Mt 24,42; Apg 19,8; Apg 19,10; Apg 20,19; Apg 24,17; Kol 1,28; Hebr 13,17)32 And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified. (Mt 25,34; Apg 14,3; Apg 14,23; Apg 20,24; Apg 26,18; Röm 8,17; Eph 1,14; Eph 1,18; Eph 5,5; Kol 1,12; Kol 2,7; Kol 3,24; Hebr 9,15; 1Petr 1,4)33 I coveted no one’s silver or gold or apparel. (1Sam 12,3; Mt 10,8; 1Kor 9,12; 2Kor 7,2; 2Kor 11,9; 2Kor 12,17; 1Thess 2,5)34 You yourselves know that these hands ministered to my necessities and to those who were with me. (Apg 18,3; Apg 19,22; Apg 19,29; Apg 20,18)35 In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” (Mt 10,8; Apg 11,16; 1Kor 12,28; Eph 4,28; 1Thess 5,14; 2Thess 3,7)36 And when he had said these things, he knelt down and prayed with them all. (Apg 7,60)37 And there was much weeping on the part of all; they embraced Paul and kissed him, (Lk 15,20; 2Tim 1,4)38 being sorrowful most of all because of the word he had spoken, that they would not see his face again. And they accompanied him to the ship. (Apg 15,3; Apg 20,25)
