Gott steht auf in der Gottesversammlung,
inmitten der Götter hält er Gericht. (1Kön 22,19; Ps 136,2)2Wie lange noch wollt ihr ungerecht richten
und die Frevler begünstigen? [Sela] (Ps 58,3)3Verhelft zum Recht den Geringen und Waisen,
dem Elenden und dem Bedürftigen schafft Gerechtigkeit! (2Mo 23,6; 5Mo 1,17; Jes 1,17)4Befreit den Geringen und Armen,
entreißt sie der Hand der Frevler!5Sie erkennen nicht, verstehen nichts, /
sie wandeln umher in Finsternis.
Alle Grundfesten der Erde wanken.6Ich habe gesagt: Ihr seid Götter,
ihr alle seid Söhne des Höchsten. (Joh 10,34)7Doch nun sollt ihr sterben wie Menschen,
sollt stürzen wie einer der Fürsten.8Steh auf, Gott, und richte die Erde!
Denn alle Nationen werden dein Erbteil sein. (Ps 67,5)

A psalm of Asaph.
1God presides in the great assembly; he renders judgment among the ‘gods’:2‘How long will you[1] defend the unjust and show partiality to the wicked?[2]3Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.4Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.5‘The “gods” know nothing, they understand nothing. They walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.6‘I said, “You are ‘gods’; you are all sons of the Most High.”7But you will die like mere mortals; you will fall like every other ruler.’8Rise up, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations are your inheritance.
