1 Halleluja! Dankt dem HERRN, denn er ist gut, denn seine Huld währt ewig. (Ps 107,1) 2 Wer kann die großen Taten des HERRN erzählen, all seinen Ruhm verkünden? (Joh 21,25) 3 Selig, die das Recht bewahren, die Gerechtigkeit üben zu jeder Zeit. (Jes 56,1) 4 Gedenke meiner, HERR, in Gnade für dein Volk, such mich heim mit deiner Hilfe, 5 dass ich das Glück deiner Erwählten schaue, / mich freue an der Freude deines Volkes, dass ich zusammen mit deinem Erbe mich rühme! 6 Wir haben gesündigt mit unseren Vätern, wir haben Unrecht getan und gefrevelt. (3Mo 26,40; Dan 9,5) 7 Unsere Väter in Ägypten begriffen deine Wunder nicht, / gedachten nicht der vielen Erweise deiner Huld und waren widerspenstig am Meer, am Roten Meer. (Hes 39,25) 9 Er drohte dem Roten Meer, da wurde es trocken, er führte sie durch die Fluten wie durch die Wüste. (2Mo 14,21; Jes 63,11) 10 Er rettete sie aus der Hand derer, die sie hassten, er erlöste sie aus der Hand des Feindes. 11 Ihre Bedränger bedeckte das Wasser, nicht einer von ihnen blieb übrig. 12 Da glaubten sie seinen Worten, da sangen sie seinen Lobpreis. (2Mo 14,31; 2Mo 15,1) 13 Doch sie vergaßen schnell seine Taten, wollten auf seinen Ratschluss nicht warten. 14 Sie gierten voll Gier in der Wüste, sie versuchten Gott in der Öde. (4Mo 11,4; Ps 78,18) 15 Er gab ihnen, was sie verlangten, dann aber sandte er ihnen die Schwindsucht. 16 Sie wurden im Lager eifersüchtig auf Mose und auf Aaron, den Heiligen des HERRN. (4Mo 16,1) 17 Die Erde tat sich auf und verschluckte Datan, sie bedeckte die Rotte Abirams. (4Mo 16,31) 18 Feuer verbrannte die Rotte, Flammen verzehrten die Frevler. 19 Sie machten am Horeb ein Kalb und warfen sich nieder vor dem Gussbild. (2Mo 32,1) 20 Die Herrlichkeit Gottes tauschten sie ein gegen das Abbild eines Stieres, der Gras frisst. (Jer 2,11; Röm 1,23) 21 Sie vergaßen Gott, ihren Retter, der einst in Ägypten Großes vollbrachte, (Ps 78,42) 22 Wunder im Land Hams, Furcht erregende Taten am Roten Meer. 23 Da sann er darauf, sie zu vertilgen, wäre nicht Mose gewesen, sein Erwählter. Der trat vor ihn in die Bresche, seinen Grimm abzuwenden vom Vernichten. (2Mo 32,11) 24 Sie verschmähten das köstliche Land, sie glaubten nicht seinem Wort. (4Mo 14,2) 25 Sie murrten in ihren Zelten, hörten nicht auf die Stimme des HERRN. 26 Da erhob er gegen sie seine Hand, um sie niederzustrecken in der Wüste, (4Mo 14,23) 27 ihre Nachkommen niederzustrecken durch die Nationen, sie in alle Länder zu zerstreuen. (3Mo 26,33; Hes 20,23) 28 Sie hängten sich an den Baal-Pegor und aßen Opfer für Tote. (4Mo 25,1) 29 Sie erbitterten Gott mit ihren Taten, da brach unter ihnen eine Plage aus. 30 Pinhas trat hin und legte Fürsprache ein, da wurde der Plage Einhalt geboten. (4Mo 25,7) 31 Das wurde ihm angerechnet als Gerechtigkeit von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht für alle Zeiten. (4Mo 25,12) 32 Sie erzürnten Gott an den Wassern von Meriba, ihretwegen erging es Mose übel. (4Mo 20,2) 33 Denn sie waren widerspenstig gegen seinen Geist und er redete unbedacht mit seinen Lippen. 34 Sie rotteten die Völker nicht aus, wie der HERR es ihnen befohlen. (5Mo 7,1; Ri 1,18) 35 Sie vermischten sich mit den Völkern und lernten von ihren Taten. 36 Sie dienten deren Götzen, sie wurden ihnen zur Falle. (Ri 2,11) 37 Sie brachten ihre Söhne und Töchter dar als Opfer für die Dämonen. (3Mo 18,21) 38 Sie vergossen unschuldiges Blut, das Blut ihrer Söhne und Töchter, die sie den Götzen Kanaans opferten. So wurde das Land durch Blutschuld geschändet. (4Mo 35,33) 39 Sie wurden durch ihre Taten unrein und brachen mit ihrem Tun die Treue. 40 Der Zorn des HERRN entbrannte gegen sein Volk, Abscheu empfand er gegen sein Erbe. (Ri 2,14) 41 Er gab sie in die Hand der Völker und die sie hassten, beherrschten sie. 42 Ihre Feinde bedrängten sie, unter ihre Hand mussten sie sich beugen. 43 Viele Male hat er sie befreit, / sie aber blieben widerspenstig bei ihren Beschlüssen und versanken in ihrer Schuld.^[1] (Ri 2,16) 44 Da sah er auf ihre Drangsal, als er auf ihr Schreien hörte, 45 er gedachte ihnen zuliebe seines Bundes und ließ es sich gereuen gemäß der Fülle seiner Huld. (3Mo 26,42) 46 Er ließ sie Erbarmen finden bei allen, deren Gefangene sie waren. (Esr 9,9) 47 Rette uns, HERR, unser Gott, und sammle uns aus den Völkern, damit wir deinem heiligen Namen danken und uns in deinem Lobpreis rühmen! (1Chr 16,35) 48 Gepriesen sei der HERR, der Gott Israels,/ von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit. Alles Volk soll sprechen: Amen. Halleluja!

1 Praise the Lord.^[1] Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures for ever. 2 Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the Lord or fully declare his praise? 3 Blessed are those who act justly, who always do what is right. 4 Remember me, Lord, when you show favour to your people, come to my aid when you save them, 5 that I may enjoy the prosperity of your chosen ones, that I may share in the joy of your nation and join your inheritance in giving praise. 6 We have sinned, even as our ancestors did; we have done wrong and acted wickedly. 7 When our ancestors were in Egypt, they gave no thought to your miracles; they did not remember your many kindnesses, and they rebelled by the sea, the Red Sea.^[2] 8 Yet he saved them for his name’s sake, to make his mighty power known. 9 He rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up; he led them through the depths as through a desert. 10 He saved them from the hand of the foe; from the hand of the enemy he redeemed them. 11 The waters covered their adversaries; not one of them survived. 12 Then they believed his promises and sang his praise. 13 But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for his plan to unfold. 14 In the desert they gave in to their craving; in the wilderness they put God to the test. 15 So he gave them what they asked for, but sent a wasting disease among them. 16 In the camp they grew envious of Moses and of Aaron, who was consecrated to the Lord. 17 The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan; it buried the company of Abiram. 18 Fire blazed among their followers; a flame consumed the wicked. 19 At Horeb they made a calf and worshipped an idol cast from metal. 20 They exchanged their glorious God for an image of a bull, which eats grass. 21 They forgot the God who saved them, who had done great things in Egypt, 22 miracles in the land of Ham and awesome deeds by the Red Sea. 23 So he said he would destroy them – had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him to keep his wrath from destroying them. 24 Then they despised the pleasant land; they did not believe his promise. 25 They grumbled in their tents and did not obey the Lord. 26 So he swore to them with uplifted hand that he would make them fall in the wilderness, 27 make their descendants fall among the nations and scatter them throughout the lands. 28 They yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor and ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods; 29 they aroused the Lord’s anger by their wicked deeds, and a plague broke out among them. 30 But Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was checked. 31 This was credited to him as righteousness for endless generations to come. 32 By the waters of Meribah they angered the Lord, and trouble came to Moses because of them; 33 for they rebelled against the Spirit of God, and rash words came from Moses’ lips.^[3] 34 They did not destroy the peoples as the Lord had commanded them, 35 but they mingled with the nations and adopted their customs. 36 They worshipped their idols, which became a snare to them. 37 They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to false gods. 38 They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was desecrated by their blood. 39 They defiled themselves by what they did; by their deeds they prostituted themselves. 40 Therefore the Lord was angry with his people and abhorred his inheritance. 41 He gave them into the hands of the nations, and their foes ruled over them. 42 Their enemies oppressed them and subjected them to their power. 43 Many times he delivered them, but they were bent on rebellion and they wasted away in their sin. 44 Yet he took note of their distress when he heard their cry; 45 for their sake he remembered his covenant and out of his great love he relented. 46 He caused all who held them captive to show them mercy. 47 Save us, Lord our God, and gather us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise. 48 Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say, ‘Amen!’ Praise the Lord.
