James 2:11

English Standard Version

11 For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. (Ex 20:13; Ex 20:14) 

New International Version

11 For he who said, ‘You shall not commit adultery,’[1] also said, ‘You shall not murder.’[2] If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a law-breaker. (Ex 20:13; Ex 20:14; De 5:17; De 5:18) 

New International Reader’s Version

11 God said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ He also said, ‘Do not commit murder.’ Suppose you don’t commit adultery but do commit murder. Then you have broken the law. (Ex 20:13; Ex 20:14; De 5:17; De 5:18)

11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
