20 But every one of the Israelites went down to the Philistines to sharpen his plowshare, his mattock, his axe, or his sickle,[1] 

New International Version

20 So all Israel went down to the Philistines to have their ploughshares, mattocks, axes and sickles[1] sharpened. 

New International Reader’s Version

20 So all the Israelites had to go down to the Philistines. They had to go to them to get their ploughs, hoes, axes and sickles sharpened. 

King James Version

20 But all the Israelites went down to the Philistines, to sharpen every man his share, and his coulter, and his axe, and his mattock.
