Çünkü O benden önce vardı› diye sözünü ettiğim kişi budur.››16Nitekim hepimiz O'nun doluluğundan lütuf üzerine lütuf aldık.17Kutsal Yasa Musa aracılığıyla verildi, ama lütuf ve gerçek İsa Mesih aracılığıyla geldi.18Tanrı'yı hiçbir zaman hiç kimse görmedi. Baba'nın bağrında bulunan ve Tanrı olan biricik Oğul O'nu tanıttı.
Yahya'nın Ortaya Çıkışı
19-20Yahudi yetkililer Yahya'ya, ‹‹Sen kimsin?›› diye sormak üzere Yeruşalim'den kâhinlerle Levililer'i gönderdikleri zaman Yahya'nın tanıklığı şöyle oldu -açıkça konuştu, inkâr etmedi- ‹‹Ben Mesih değilim›› diye açıkça konuştu. (Mat 3:1; Mar 1:1; Luk 3:1)21Onlar da kendisine, ‹‹Öyleyse sen kimsin? İlyas mısın?›› diye sordular. Tanrı Kuzusu
29Yahya ertesi gün İsa'nın kendisine doğru geldiğini görünce şöyle dedi: ‹‹İşte, dünyanın günahını ortadan kaldıran Tanrı Kuzusu!30Kendisi için, ‹Benden sonra biri geliyor, O benden üstündür. Çünkü O benden önce vardı› dediğim kişi işte budur.31Ben O'nu tanımıyordum, ama İsrail'in O'nu tanıması için ben suyla vaftiz ederek geldim.››32Yahya tanıklığını şöyle sürdürdü: ‹‹Ruh'un güvercin gibi gökten indiğini, O'nun üzerinde durduğunu gördüm.33Ben O'nu tanımıyordum. Ama suyla vaftiz etmek için beni gönderen, ‹Ruh'un kimin üzerine inip durduğunu görürsen, Kutsal Ruh'la vaftiz eden O'dur› dedi.34Ben de gördüm ve ‹Tanrı'nın Oğlu budur› diye tanıklık ettim.››
İsa'nın İlk Öğrencileri
35Ertesi gün Yahya yine öğrencilerinden ikisiyle birlikteydi.36Oradan geçen İsa'ya bakarak, ‹‹İşte Tanrı Kuzusu!›› dedi.37Onun söylediklerini duyan iki öğrenci İsa'nın ardından gitti.38İsa arkasına dönüp ardından geldiklerini görünce, ‹‹Ne arıyorsunuz?›› diye sordu. Onlar da, ‹‹Rabbî, nerede oturuyorsun?›› dediler. Rabbî, öğretmenim anlamına gelir.39İsa, ‹‹Gelin, görün›› dedi. Gidip O'nun nerede oturduğunu gördüler ve o gün O'nunla kaldılar. Kefas, kaya anlamına gelir.43Ertesi gün İsa, Celile'ye gitmeye karar verdi. 19And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?” (Yu 3:26; Yu 8:25)20He confessed, and did not deny, but confessed, “I am not the Christ.” (Luk 3:15; Yu 1:8; Yu 3:28; Elç 13:25)21And they asked him, “What then? Behold, the Lamb of God
29The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! Jesus Calls the First Disciples
35The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples,36and he looked at Jesus as he walked by and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!” (Yu 1:29)37The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus.38Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, “What are you seeking?” And they said to him, “Rabbi” (which means Teacher), “where are you staying?” (Mar 10:51; Yu 1:49; Yu 3:2; Yu 3:26; Yu 6:25; Yu 18:4; Yu 18:7; Yu 20:15; Yu 20:16)39He said to them, “Come and you will see.” So they came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.[10]40One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus[11] was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. (Mat 4:18; Mar 1:16; Luk 5:2)41He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means Christ). (Yu 4:25)42He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of John. You shall be called Cephas” (which means Peter[12]). (Mat 16:18; Yu 21:15; 1 Ko 1:12; 1 Ko 3:22)
Jesus Calls Philip and Nathanael
43The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.” (Yu 1:28; Yu 1:35; Yu 2:1)44Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. (Yu 12:21)45Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” (Mat 2:23; Luk 3:23; Luk 16:16; Luk 24:27; Yu 6:42; Yu 21:2)46Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” (Yu 7:41; Yu 7:52)47Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!” (Mez 32:2; Mez 73:1; Sef 3:13; Rom 9:4; Rom 9:6; Va 14:5)48Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” (Yu 2:24)49Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God!
