1Başlangıçta Tanrı göğü ve yeri yarattı.2Yer boştu, yeryüzü şekilleri yoktu; engin karanlıklarla kaplıydı. Tanrı'nın Ruhu suların üzerinde dalgalanıyordu.3Tanrı, ‹‹Işık olsun›› diye buyurdu ve ışık oldu.4Tanrı ışığın iyi olduğunu gördü ve onu karanlıktan ayırdı.5Işığa ‹‹Gündüz››, karanlığa ‹‹Gece›› adını verdi. Akşam oldu, sabah oldu ve ilk gün oluştu.6Tanrı, ‹‹Suların ortasında bir kubbe olsun, suları birbirinden ayırsın›› diye buyurdu.7Ve öyle oldu. Tanrı gökkubbeyi yarattı. Kubbenin altındaki suları üstündeki sulardan ayırdı.8Kubbeye ‹‹Gök›› adını verdi. Akşam oldu, sabah oldu ve ikinci gün oluştu.9Tanrı, ‹‹Göğün altındaki sular bir yere toplansın, kuru toprak görünsün›› diye buyurdu ve öyle oldu.10Kuru alana ‹‹Kara››, toplanan sulara ‹‹Deniz›› adını verdi. Tanrı bunun iyi olduğunu gördü.11Tanrı, ‹‹Yeryüzü bitkiler, tohum veren otlar, türüne göre tohumu meyvesinde bulunan meyve ağaçları üretsin›› diye buyurdu ve öyle oldu.12Yeryüzü bitkiler, türüne göre tohum veren otlar, tohumu meyvesinde bulunan meyve ağaçları yetiştirdi. Tanrı bunun iyi olduğunu gördü.13Akşam oldu, sabah oldu ve üçüncü gün oluştu.14-15Tanrı şöyle buyurdu: ‹‹Gökkubbede gündüzü geceden ayıracak, yeryüzünü aydınlatacak ışıklar olsun. Belirtileri, mevsimleri, günleri, yılları göstersin.›› Ve öyle oldu.16Tanrı büyüğü gündüze, küçüğü geceye egemen olacak iki büyük ışığı ve yıldızları yarattı.17-18Yeryüzünü aydınlatmak, gündüze ve geceye egemen olmak, ışığı karanlıktan ayırmak için onları gökkubbeye yerleştirdi. Tanrı bunun iyi olduğunu gördü.19Akşam oldu, sabah oldu ve dördüncü gün oluştu.20Tanrı, ‹‹Sular canlı yaratıklarla dolup taşsın, yeryüzünün üzerinde, gökte kuşlar uçuşsun›› diye buyurdu.21Tanrı büyük deniz canavarlarını, sularda kaynaşan canlıları ve uçan çeşitli varlıkları yarattı. Bunun iyi olduğunu gördü.22Tanrı, ‹‹Verimli olun, çoğalın, denizleri doldurun, yeryüzünde kuşlar çoğalsın›› diyerek onları kutsadı.23Akşam oldu, sabah oldu ve beşinci gün oluştu.24Tanrı, ‹‹Yeryüzü çeşit çeşit canlı yaratık, evcil ve yabanıl hayvan, sürüngen[1] türetsin›› diye buyurdu. Ve öyle oldu.25Tanrı çeşit çeşit yabanıl hayvan, evcil hayvan, sürüngen yarattı. Bunun iyi olduğunu gördü.26Tanrı, ‹‹İnsanı kendi suretimizde, kendimize benzer yaratalım›› dedi, ‹‹Denizdeki balıklara, gökteki kuşlara, evcil hayvanlara, sürüngenlere, yeryüzünün tümüne egemen olsun.››27Tanrı insanı kendi suretinde yarattı. Böylece insan Tanrı suretinde yaratılmış oldu. İnsanları erkek ve dişi olarak yarattı.28Onları kutsayarak, ‹‹Verimli olun, çoğalın›› dedi, ‹‹Yeryüzünü doldurun ve denetiminize alın; denizdeki balıklara, gökteki kuşlara, yeryüzünde yaşayan bütün canlılara egemen olun.29İşte yeryüzünde tohum veren her otu, tohumu meyvesinde bulunan her meyve ağacını size veriyorum. Bunlar size yiyecek olacak.30Yabanıl hayvanlara, gökteki kuşlara, sürüngenlere -soluk alıp veren bütün hayvanlara- yiyecek olarak yeşil otları veriyorum.›› Ve öyle oldu.31Tanrı yarattıklarına baktı ve her şeyin çok iyi olduğunu gördü. Akşam oldu, sabah oldu ve altıncı gün oluştu.

The Creation of the World
1In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. (Eyü 38:4; Mez 33:6; Mez 136:5; Yşa 42:5; Yşa 45:18; Yu 1:1; Elç 14:15; Elç 17:24; Kol 1:16; İbr 1:10; İbr 11:3; Va 4:11)2The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. (Yer 4:23)3And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. (2 Ko 4:6)4And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness.5God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.6And God said, “Let there be an expanse[1] in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” (Eyü 37:18; Mez 136:5; Yer 10:12; Yer 51:15)7And God made[2] the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so. (Mez 148:4; Özd 8:27)8And God called the expanse Heaven.[3] And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.9And God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so. (Eyü 38:8; Mez 33:7; Mez 136:6; Yer 5:22; 2 Pe 3:5)10God called the dry land Earth,[4] and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good.11And God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants[5] yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.” And it was so. (Mez 104:14)12The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.13And there was evening and there was morning, the third day.14And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons,[6] and for days and years, (Mez 104:19; Yer 10:2; Hez 32:7; Yoe 2:30; Yoe 3:15; Mat 24:29; Luk 21:25)15and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth.” And it was so.16And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars. (Yas 4:19; Mez 136:7)17And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth,18to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. (Yer 31:35)19And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day.20And God said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds[7] fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens.”21So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. (Mez 104:25)22And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” (Yar 8:17; Yar 9:1)23And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day.24And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so.25And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.26Then God said, “Let us make man[8] in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” (Yar 3:22; Yar 5:1; Yar 9:2; Yar 9:6; Yar 11:7; Mez 8:6; Yşa 6:8; 1 Ko 11:7; Ef 4:24; Kol 3:10; Yak 3:7; Yak 3:9)27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. (Yar 2:18; Yar 2:21; Yar 5:2; Mal 2:15; Mat 19:4; Mar 10:6)28And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” (Yar 9:1; Yar 9:7)29And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. (Yar 9:3; Mez 104:14; Mez 145:15)30And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so. (Mez 147:9)31And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. (Vai 7:29; 1 Ti 4:4)
