Jonas Verkündigung in Ninive und die Buße der Stadt
1Und das Wort des HERRN erging zum zweiten Mal an Jona folgendermaßen: (Joh 21,15)2Mache dich auf, geh nach Ninive, in die große Stadt, und verkündige ihnen die Botschaft, die ich dir sagen werde! (Jer 1,7; Jer 1,17; Jon 1,1)3Da machte sich Jona auf und ging nach Ninive, nach dem Wort des HERRN. Ninive aber war eine sehr große Stadt vor Gott, drei Tagereisen groß. (2Mo 3,18; 2Mo 5,1; 1Kön 19,4; Ps 119,67; Jon 4,11; Lk 2,44)4Und Jona fing an, eine Tagereise weit in die Stadt hineinzugehen, und er rief und sprach: »Noch 40 Tage, und Ninive wird zerstört!« (2Kön 20,1; 2Kön 20,5; Jer 18,7)5Und die Leute von Ninive glaubten Gott; und sie riefen ein Fasten aus und legten Sacktuch an, vom Größten bis zum Kleinsten unter ihnen. (1Kön 21,27; Jer 6,26; Jer 13,18; Jon 3,5)7Und er ließ ausrufen und sagen in Ninive, auf Befehl des Königs und seiner Großen: »Menschen und Vieh, Rinder und Schafe sollen nichts genießen, sie sollen weder weiden noch Wasser trinken; (1Sam 7,6)8sondern Menschen und Vieh sollen sich in Sacktuch hüllen und mit aller Kraft zu Gott rufen und sollen umkehren, jeder von seinem bösen Weg und von dem Unrecht, das an seinen Händen klebt! (Ps 119,58; Jes 1,16; Jes 55,7; Jer 26,19)9Wer weiß, Gott könnte anderen Sinnes werden, es sich gereuen lassen und ablassen von seinem grimmigen Zorn, sodass wir nicht untergehen!« (Joe 2,14; Am 5,15; Jon 4,2; Zef 2,3)10Und Gott sah ihre Taten, dass sie umkehrten von ihren bösen Wegen, und ihn reute das Übel, das er ihnen angedroht hatte, und er tat es nicht. Jonah goes to Nineveh
1A message from the LORD came to Jonah a second time. The LORD said,2‘Go to the great city of Nineveh. Announce to its people the message I give you.’3Jonah obeyed the LORD. He went to Nineveh. It was a very large city. In fact, it took about three days to go through it.4Jonah began by going one whole day into the city. As he went, he announced, ‘In 40 days Nineveh will be destroyed.’5The people of Nineveh believed God’s warning. So they decided not to eat any food for a while. And all of them put on the rough clothing people wear when they’re sad. That’s what everyone did, from the least important of them to the most important.6Jonah’s warning reached the king of Nineveh. He got up from his throne. He took off his royal robes. He also dressed himself in the clothing of sadness. And then he sat down in the dust.7Here is the message he sent out to the people of Nineveh. ‘I and my nobles give this order. Don’t let people or animals taste anything. That includes your herds and flocks. People and animals must not eat or drink anything.8Let people and animals alike be covered with the clothing of sadness. All of you must call out to God with all your hearts. Stop doing what is evil. Don’t harm others.9Who knows? God might take pity on us. He might not be angry with us anymore. Then we won’t die.’10God saw what they did. He saw that they stopped doing what was evil. So he took pity on them. He didn’t destroy them as he had said he would.
