Das Wort des Lebens

1 Was von Anfang war, was wir gehört haben, was wir mit unseren Augen gesehen haben, was wir angeschaut und was unsere Hände betastet haben vom Wort des Lebens (Hi 19,27; Mi 5,1; Joh 1,1; Joh 1,4; Joh 1,14; Joh 1,39; Joh 6,63; Joh 6,68) 

2 — und das Leben ist erschienen, und wir haben gesehen und bezeugen und verkündigen euch das ewige Leben, das bei dem Vater war und uns erschienen ist —, (Joh 3,16; Joh 15,27; Apg 5,32; Apg 9,17; Apg 26,15; 1Tim 3,16; 1Joh 5,11; 1Joh 5,20) 

3 was wir gesehen und gehört haben, das verkündigen wir euch, damit auch ihr Gemeinschaft mit uns habt; und unsere Gemeinschaft ist mit dem Vater und mit seinem Sohn Jesus Christus. (Joh 17,21; Joh 20,18; Apg 4,20; 1Kor 1,9; 2Kor 13,13; 1Joh 1,6) 

4 Und dies schreiben wir euch, damit eure Freude vollkommen sei. (Joh 15,11; Joh 17,13; 2Joh 1,12) 

Wandel im Licht und Sündenvergebung

5 Und das ist die Botschaft, die wir von ihm gehört haben und euch verkündigen, dass Gott Licht ist und in ihm gar keine Finsternis ist. (Ps 104,2; Ps 139,11; Joh 8,12; Jak 1,17; Offb 21,23) 

6 Wenn wir sagen, dass wir Gemeinschaft mit ihm haben, und doch in der Finsternis wandeln, so lügen wir und tun nicht die Wahrheit; (Mt 7,21; Offb 3,17) 

7 wenn wir aber im Licht wandeln, wie er im Licht ist, so haben wir Gemeinschaft miteinander, und das Blut Jesu Christi, seines Sohnes, reinigt uns von aller Sünde. (Apg 2,42; Röm 13,13; 2Kor 6,14; Gal 5,25; Eph 1,7; Eph 5,8; Hebr 9,14; 1Joh 1,3; 1Joh 1,6; Offb 1,5; Offb 7,14) 

8 Wenn wir sagen, dass wir keine Sünde haben, so verführen wir uns selbst, und die Wahrheit ist nicht in uns. (Spr 20,9; Pred 7,20; Röm 3,23; Röm 7,24) 

9 Wenn wir aber unsere Sünden bekennen, so ist er treu und gerecht, dass er uns die Sünden vergibt und uns reinigt von aller Ungerechtigkeit. (3Mo 16,30; Ps 32,5; Spr 28,13; Mt 3,6; Apg 19,18; 1Kor 6,11; Hebr 9,14; Hebr 9,22; Jak 5,16) 

10 Wenn wir sagen, dass wir nicht gesündigt haben, so machen wir ihn zum Lügner, und sein Wort ist nicht in uns. (1Kor 15,15; 1Joh 1,8; 1Joh 2,4)

New International Reader’s Version

The Word of life became a human being

1 Here is what we announce to everyone about the Word of life. The Word was already here from the beginning. We have heard him. We have seen him with our eyes. We have looked at him. Our hands have touched him. 

2 This life has appeared. We have seen him. We are witnesses about him. And we announce to you this same eternal life. He was already with the Father. He has appeared to us. 

3 We announce to you what we have seen and heard. We do it so you can share life together with us. And we share life with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 

4 We are writing this to make our joy complete. 

Walking in the light

5 Here is the message we have heard from him and announce to you. God is light. There is no darkness in him at all. 

6 Suppose we say that we share life with God but still walk in the darkness. Then we are lying. We are not living out the truth. 

7 But suppose we walk in the light, just as he is in the light. Then we share life with one another. And the blood of Jesus, his Son, makes us pure from all sin. 

8 Suppose we claim we are without sin. Then we are fooling ourselves. The truth is not in us. 

9 But God is faithful and fair. If we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins. He will forgive every wrong thing we have done. He will make us pure. 

10 If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar. His word is not in us.
