1 Dem Vorsänger. Ein Psalm Davids. 

2 Errette mich, HERR, von dem bösen Menschen; vor dem Gewalttätigen bewahre mich! (Ps 59,2; Ps 140,5; 2Thess 3,2) 

3 Denn sie haben Böses im Herzen und schüren täglich Streit. (Ps 120,6; Spr 6,14; Mi 2,1; Mt 15,19) 

4 Sie spitzen ihre Zunge wie eine Schlange, Otterngift ist unter ihren Lippen. (Sela.) (Ps 52,4; Ps 58,5; Röm 3,13) 

5 Bewahre mich, HERR, vor den Händen des Gottlosen; behüte mich vor dem Gewalttätigen, der mich zu Fall bringen will! (Ps 17,8; Ps 36,12; Ps 71,4; Ps 140,2) 

6 Die Hochmütigen legen mir heimlich Fallstricke und Schlingen; sie haben ein Netz ausgespannt neben dem Weg, sie haben mir Fallen gestellt. (Sela.) (Ps 56,7; Ps 57,7; Ps 119,110; Ps 141,9; Jer 18,22) 

7 Ich aber sage zum HERRN: Du bist mein Gott; HERR, höre auf die Stimme meines Flehens! (Ps 31,15; Ps 142,6) 

8 O HERR, [mein] Herr, du bist meine mächtige Rettung; du schützt mein Haupt am Tag der Schlacht! (Ps 18,36; Ps 144,10) 

9 HERR, gewähre dem Gottlosen nicht, was er begehrt; lass seinen Anschlag nicht gelingen! Sie würden sich sonst überheben. (Sela.) (5Mo 32,27; Ps 112,10) 

10 Die Häupter derer, die mich umringen — das Unheil, von dem ihre Lippen reden, komme über sie selbst! (Ps 7,17; Ps 64,8) 

11 Feuersglut falle auf sie! Ins Feuer stürze er sie, in tiefe Abgründe, dass sie nicht mehr aufstehen! (Ps 11,6; Ps 55,24; Jes 64,1) 

12 Der Verleumder wird nicht bestehen im Land; den Gewalttätigen wird das Unglück verfolgen bis zu seinem Untergang! (Ps 12,3; Ps 34,22; Spr 20,19; Jer 17,18) 

13 Ich weiß, dass der HERR die Sache des Elenden führen wird und den Armen Recht schaffen wird. (Hi 36,6; Ps 10,14; Ps 35,10; Ps 146,7; Spr 22,22) 

14 Ja, die Gerechten werden deinen Namen preisen, und die Aufrichtigen werden wohnen vor deinem Angesicht! (Ps 11,7; Ps 15,1; Ps 64,11; Mt 5,8; 2Tim 4,8)

Psalm 140

King James Version

1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man; 

2 Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war. 

3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders'poison is under their lips. Selah. 

4 Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings. 

5 The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah. 

6 I said unto the LORD, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD. 

7 O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle. 

8 Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves. Selah. 

9 As for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them. 

10 Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again. 

11 Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him . 

12 I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor. 

13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.
