Krieg der Philister gegen Israel. Saul bei der Totenbeschwörerin in Endor
1Und es geschah zu jener Zeit, dass die Philister ihre Heere zum Krieg zusammenzogen, um gegen Israel zu kämpfen. Und Achis sprach zu David: Du sollst wissen, dass du mit mir ins Kriegslager ausziehen wirst, du und deine Männer! (1Sam 29,1; 1Sam 29,4)2Da sprach David zu Achis: Wohlan, so sollst auch du erfahren, was dein Knecht tun wird! Und Achis sprach zu David: Darum will ich dich zu meinem Leibwächter machen für die ganze Zeit. (1Sam 29,2)3(Samuel aber war gestorben, und ganz Israel hatte um ihn Leid getragen und ihn in seiner Stadt Rama begraben. Saul aber hatte die Wahrsager und Zeichendeuter aus dem Land vertrieben.) Seine Knechte aber sprachen zu ihm: Siehe, in Endor ist eine Frau, die Tote beschwören kann! (Jos 17,11; Ps 83,10)8Da machte sich Saul unkenntlich und legte andere Kleider an und ging hin, und zwei Männer mit ihm; und sie kamen bei Nacht zu der Frau. Und er sprach: Wahrsage mir doch durch Totenbeschwörung und bringe mir den herauf, welchen ich dir nennen werde! (5Mo 18,11; 1Chr 10,13; Jes 8,19)9Die Frau sprach zu ihm: Siehe, du weißt doch, was Saul getan hat, wie er die Totenbeschwörer und Wahrsager aus dem Land ausgerottet hat; warum willst du denn meiner Seele eine Schlinge legen, dass ich getötet werde? (1Sam 28,3; 2Kön 5,7)10Saul aber schwor ihr bei dem HERRN und sprach: So wahr der HERR lebt, es soll dich deshalb keine Schuld treffen! Er sprach: Bring mir Samuel herauf!12Als nun die Frau Samuel sah, da schrie sie laut und sprach zu Saul: Warum hast du mich betrogen? Du bist ja Saul! (1Sam 28,8; 1Kön 14,5)13Und der König sprach zu ihr: Fürchte dich nicht! Was siehst du? Die Frau sprach zu Saul: Ich sehe ein Götterwesen aus der Erde heraufsteigen! (2Mo 4,16; Ps 82,6)14Er sprach: Wie sieht es aus? Sie sprach: Es kommt ein alter Mann herauf und ist mit einem Obergewand bekleidet! Da erkannte Saul, dass es Samuel war, und er neigte sich mit seinem Angesicht zur Erde und verbeugte sich. (1Sam 15,27; 2Kön 2,8; 2Kön 2,13)15Samuel aber sprach zu Saul: Warum hast du mich gestört, indem du mich heraufbringen lässt? Und Saul sprach: Ich bin hart bedrängt; denn die Philister kämpfen gegen mich, und Gott ist von mir gewichen und antwortet mir nicht, weder durch die Propheten noch durch Träume; darum habe ich dich rufen lassen, damit du mir zeigst, was ich tun soll! (2Kön 6,27; Kla 2,5)17Der HERR hat so gehandelt, wie er durch mich geredet hat, und der HERR hat das Königtum deiner Hand entrissen und es David, deinem Nächsten, gegeben. (1Sam 13,13; 1Sam 15,27)18Weil du der Stimme des HERRN nicht gehorcht und seinen glühenden Zorn gegen Amalek nicht vollstreckt hast, darum hat der HERR dir heute dies getan. (1Sam 15,9; 1Sam 15,22; 1Kön 20,42; 1Chr 10,13; Ps 50,21; Jer 48,10)19Und der HERR wird auch Israel und dich in die Hand der Philister geben; und morgen wirst du samt deinen Söhnen bei mir sein. Auch das Heer Israels wird der HERR in die Hand der Philister geben! (1Sam 31,1; Dan 5,25)20Da fiel Saul plötzlich der Länge nach zu Boden, denn er erschrak sehr über die Worte Samuels; auch war keine Kraft mehr in ihm, denn er hatte den ganzen Tag und die ganze Nacht nichts gegessen. (Hi 15,20)21Und die Frau ging zu Saul hin und sah, dass er sehr erschrocken war, und sie sprach zu ihm: Siehe, deine Magd hat auf deine Stimme gehört, und ich habe mein Leben aufs Spiel gesetzt, dass ich deinen Worten gehorcht habe, die du zu mir geredet hast. (Ri 12,3; 1Sam 19,5)22So höre auch du auf die Stimme deiner Magd: Ich will dir einen Bissen Brot vorlegen, dass du isst, damit du zu Kräften kommst, wenn du deinen Weg gehst! (Spr 25,21)23Er aber weigerte sich und sprach: Ich will nicht essen! Da nötigten ihn seine Knechte und auch die Frau, und er hörte auf ihre Stimme. Und er stand auf von der Erde und setzte sich auf das Bett. (1Kön 21,4; 2Kön 4,8; Spr 25,20; Lk 14,23; Apg 16,15)24Die Frau aber hatte ein gemästetes Kalb im Haus; und sie eilte und schlachtete es und nahm Mehl und knetete es und machte daraus ungesäuerte Fladen; (1Mo 18,6; Lk 15,23)25die brachte sie herzu vor Saul und vor seine Knechte. 1And it came to pass in those days, that the Philistines gathered their armies together for warfare, to fight with Israel. And Achish said unto David, Know thou assuredly, that thou shalt go out with me to battle, thou and thy men.2And David said to Achish, Surely thou shalt know what thy servant can do. And Achish said to David, Therefore will I make thee keeper of mine head for ever.3Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land.4And the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and pitched in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they pitched in Gilboa.5And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled.6And when Saul enquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.7Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.8And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.9And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?10And Saul sware to her by the LORD, saying, As the LORD liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.11Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.12And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul.13And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth.14And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself.15And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.16Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy?17And the LORD hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the LORD hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbour, even to David:18Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the LORD, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the LORD done this thing unto thee this day.19Moreover the LORD will also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines: and to morrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me: the LORD also shall deliver the host of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.20Then Saul fell straightway all along on the earth, and was sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night.21And the woman came unto Saul, and saw that he was sore troubled, and said unto him, Behold, thine handmaid hath obeyed thy voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and have hearkened unto thy words which thou spakest unto me.22Now therefore, I pray thee, hearken thou also unto the voice of thine handmaid, and let me set a morsel of bread before thee; and eat, that thou mayest have strength, when thou goest on thy way.23But he refused, and said, I will not eat. But his servants, together with the woman, compelled him; and he hearkened unto their voice. So he arose from the earth, and sat upon the bed.24And the woman had a fat calf in the house; and she hasted, and killed it, and took flour, and kneaded it , and did bake unleavened bread thereof:25And she brought it before Saul, and before his servants; and they did eat. Then they rose up, and went away that night.
