Joseph, der Bevorzugte unter seinen Brüdern

1 Jakob aber wohnte in dem Land, in dem sein Vater ein Fremdling war, im Land Kanaan. (1Mo 26,2; Hebr 11,8) 2 Dies ist die Geschichte Jakobs: Joseph war 17 Jahre alt, als er mit seinen Brüdern das Vieh hütete, und er war als Knabe bei den Söhnen Bilhas und Silpas, den Frauen seines Vaters; und Joseph brachte vor ihren Vater, was man ihnen Schlimmes nachsagte. 3 Israel aber hatte Joseph lieber als alle seine Söhne, weil er ihn in seinem Alter bekommen hatte; und er hatte ihm einen bunten Leibrock machen lassen. (1Mo 44,20; Ri 5,30; 2Sam 13,18) 4 Als nun seine Brüder sahen, dass ihr Vater ihn lieber hatte als alle seine Brüder, hassten sie ihn und wollten ihn nicht mehr mit dem Friedensgruß grüßen. 5 Joseph aber hatte einen Traum und verkündete ihn seinen Brüdern; da hassten sie ihn noch mehr. (1Mo 28,12) 6 Er sprach nämlich zu ihnen: Hört doch, was für einen Traum ich gehabt habe: (1Mo 44,18; Ri 9,7) 7 Siehe, wir banden Garben auf dem Feld, und siehe, da richtete sich meine Garbe auf und blieb stehen; und siehe, eure Garben stellten sich ringsumher und warfen sich vor meiner Garbe nieder! 10 Als er aber das seinem Vater und seinen Brüdern erzählte, tadelte ihn sein Vater und sprach zu ihm: Was ist das für ein Traum, den du geträumt hast? Sollen etwa ich und deine Mutter und deine Brüder kommen und uns vor dir bis zur Erde niederbeugen? Joseph wird von seinen Brüdern verkauft

12 Als aber seine Brüder nach Sichem gegangen waren, um die Schafe ihres Vaters zu weiden, (1Mo 33,18) 13 da sprach Israel zu Joseph: Weiden nicht deine Brüder [die Herde] in Sichem? Komm, ich will dich zu ihnen senden! Er aber sprach: Hier bin ich! (1Sam 17,17; Lk 20,13; Hebr 10,7; Hebr 10,9)

14 Da sprach er zu ihm: Geh doch und sieh, ob es gut steht um deine Brüder und ob es gut steht um die Herde, und bring mir Bescheid! So sandte er ihn aus dem Tal Hebron, und er wanderte nach Sichem. (1Mo 35,27) 15 Da traf ihn ein Mann, als er umherirrte auf dem Feld; der fragte ihn und sprach: Was suchst du? 19 Und sie sprachen zueinander: Seht, da kommt der Träumer daher! 20 Und nun kommt und lasst uns ihn töten und in eine Zisterne werfen und sagen, ein böses Tier habe ihn gefressen; dann wollen wir sehen, was aus seinen Träumen wird! (Spr 1,11; Spr 1,16; Spr 18,19; Spr 27,4; Jes 28,15)

21 Als Ruben dies hörte, rettete er ihn aus ihren Händen, indem er sprach: Wir wollen ihn nicht ums Leben bringen! (1Mo 42,22) 22 Und weiter sprach Ruben zu ihnen: Vergießt kein Blut! Werft ihn in die Zisterne dort in der Wüste, aber legt nicht Hand an ihn! Er wollte ihn aber aus ihrer Hand erretten und ihn wieder zu seinem Vater bringen. 24 und sie ergriffen ihn und warfen ihn in die Zisterne; die Zisterne aber war leer, und es war kein Wasser darin. (1Mo 42,21; Jer 38,6; Joh 1,11) 25 Darauf setzten sie sich nieder, um zu essen. Als sie aber ihre Augen hoben und sich umsahen, siehe, da kam eine Karawane von Ismaelitern von Gilead daher, deren Kamele trugen Tragakanth, Balsam und Ladanum, und sie zogen hinab, um es nach Ägypten zu bringen. 26 Da sprach Juda zu seinen Brüdern: Was gewinnen wir damit, dass wir unseren Bruder töten und sein Blut verbergen? (1Mo 4,10; Hi 16,18) 27 Kommt, wir wollen ihn den Ismaelitern verkaufen und nicht selbst Hand an ihn legen; denn er ist unser Bruder, unser Fleisch! Und seine Brüder stimmten zu. (1Mo 29,14) 28 Als nun die midianitischen Kaufleute vorbeikamen, zogen sie Joseph aus der Zisterne herauf und verkauften ihn den Ismaelitern für 20 Silberlinge; und diese brachten Joseph nach Ägypten. 29 Als nun Ruben zur Zisterne zurückkam, siehe, da war Joseph nicht mehr in der Zisterne! Da zerriss er sein Gewand, (1Mo 37,34; Ri 11,35; Joe 2,13) 30 kehrte zu seinen Brüdern zurück und sprach: Der Knabe ist verschwunden! Und ich, wo soll ich hin? (1Mo 42,13; 1Mo 42,36) 31 Sie aber nahmen Josephs Leibrock und schlachteten einen Ziegenbock, tauchten den Leibrock in das Blut; (1Mo 37,3; 1Mo 37,23) 32 und sie schickten den bunten Leibrock ihrem Vater und ließen ihm sagen: Das haben wir gefunden; sieh doch, ob es der Leibrock deines Sohnes ist oder nicht! (1Mo 37,3) 33 Und er erkannte ihn und sprach: Es ist der Leibrock meines Sohnes! Ein wildes Tier hat ihn gefressen! Joseph ist gewiss zerrissen worden! 35 Da machten sich alle seine Söhne und Töchter auf, um ihn zu trösten; er aber wollte sich nicht trösten lassen, sondern sprach: Ich höre nicht auf zu trauern, bis ich zu meinem Sohn hinabfahre ins Totenreich! So beweinte ihn sein Vater. (1Mo 44,29; 2Sam 12,17; Ps 77,1; Jer 31,15)

And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan. 18 And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him. 19 And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh. 20 Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams. 21 And Reuben heard it , and he delivered him out of their hands; and said, Let us not kill him. 22 And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again. 23 And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stript Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him; 24 And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it. 25 And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt. 26 And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood? 27 Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content. 28 Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt. 29 And Reuben returned unto the pit; and, behold, Joseph was not in the pit; and he rent his clothes. 30 And he returned unto his brethren, and said, The child is not; and I, whither shall I go? 31 And they took Joseph' coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the coat in the blood; 32 And they sent the coat of many colours, and they brought it to their father; and said, This have we found: know now whether it be thy son' coat or no. 33 And he knew it, and said, It is my son' coat; an evil beast hath devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces. 34 And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days. 35 And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him. 36 And the Midianites sold him into Egypt unto Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh', and captain of the guard.
