1Zu jener Zeit gab es keinen König in Israel. Und zu jener Zeit suchte sich der Stamm der Daniter ein Erbteil, wo sie wohnen könnten; denn bis dahin war ihm unter den Stämmen Israels kein Erbe zugefallen. (Jos 19,47; Ri 1,34; Ri 17,6)2Und die Söhne Dans sandten fünf tapfere Männer aus der Gesamtheit ihrer Sippe, von Zorea und Estaol aus, die das Land erkunden und erforschen sollten; und sie sprachen zu ihnen: Geht hin und erforscht das Land! Und sie kamen auf das Bergland Ephraim in das Haus Michas und blieben dort über Nacht. (4Mo 13,17; Ri 13,25; Ri 17,1; 2Chr 11,10)3Als sie nun dort bei dem Gesinde Michas waren, erkannten sie die Mundart des jungen Mannes, des Leviten, und gingen zu ihm und fragten ihn: Wer hat dich hierher gebracht? Was machst du hier? Und was hast du hier zu tun? (1Mo 16,8; 1Mo 27,22; Ri 12,6; Jes 22,16; Mt 26,73)4Er antwortete ihnen: So und so hat es Micha mit mir gemacht, und er hat mich um Lohn angestellt, damit ich ihm als Priester diene. (Ri 17,10)5Sie sprachen zu ihm: Befrage doch Gott, damit wir erfahren, ob unser Weg, den wir gehen, guten Erfolg haben wird! (Ri 17,5; 1Sam 9,9; Spr 3,5; Hos 4,12)6Der Priester antwortete ihnen: Zieht hin in Frieden! Euer Weg, den ihr zieht, ist vor dem HERRN ganz recht! (1Kön 22,6)7Da gingen die fünf Männer hin und kamen nach Lais; und sie sahen, dass das Volk, das darin war, in Sicherheit wohnte nach der Art der Zidonier, ruhig und sorglos; und es war niemand im Land, der ihnen etwas zuleide tat; sie besaßen Reichtum und wohnten fern von den Zidoniern und hatten mit keinem Menschen etwas zu tun. (5Mo 8,7; Jos 2,23)11Da brachen von dort, aus dem Geschlecht Dans, von Zorea und Estaol, 600 Mann auf, mit ihren Waffen zum Kampf gerüstet. (Ri 18,16)12Und sie zogen hinauf und lagerten sich bei Kirjat-Jearim in Juda; daher nannte man diesen Ort »Das Lager Dans« bis zu diesem Tag; siehe, es ist hinter Kirjat-Jearim. (Jos 24,30; Jos 24,33; Ri 17,1; Ri 18,2; Ri 19,1)14Da ergriffen die fünf Männer, die gegangen waren, um das Land Lais auszukundschaften, das Wort und sprachen zu ihren Brüdern: Wisst ihr, dass sich in diesen Häusern ein Ephod und Teraphim befinden, auch ein Bildnis und ein gegossenes Bild? Und nun überlegt, was ihr tun wollt! (5Mo 12,3)15Und sie kehrten dort ein und kamen in das Haus des jungen Mannes, des Leviten, in Michas Haus, und grüßten ihn. (1Sam 17,22)16Aber die 600 mit Kriegswaffen gerüsteten Männer von den Söhnen Dans standen vor dem Tor. Was ist besser für dich, Hauspriester eines einzelnen Mannes zu sein oder Priester eines Stammes und Geschlechts in Israel? (Ri 17,10)20Da wurde es dem Priester wohl ums Herz; und er nahm das Ephod und die Teraphim und das Bildnis und trat unter das Volk. (Ri 17,13; Ps 118,25; Ps 139,14)21Und sie wandten sich um und zogen ab und schickten die Kinder und das Vieh und das kostbare Gerät vor sich her. (1Mo 33,1)22Sobald sie sich aber von Michas Haus entfernt hatten, wurden die Männer, die in den Häusern um Michas Haus herum wohnten, zusammengerufen; und sie holten die Söhne Dans ein. (Ri 18,24)23Und sie riefen den Söhnen Dans nach. Diese aber wandten ihr Angesicht und sprachen zu Micha: Was hast du, dass du die Leute zusammengerufen hast? (Joh 20,13)24Er antwortete: Ihr habt meine Götter, die ich gemacht habe, und den Priester weggenommen und macht euch davon! Was habe ich nun noch? Wie könnt ihr da noch zu mir sagen: Was hast du? (1Mo 31,30; Ri 17,13; Jes 44,9)25Aber die Söhne Dans sprachen zu ihm: Belästige uns nicht weiter mit deinem Geschrei, sonst bekommst du es mit erbitterten Leuten zu tun, die dich samt deinem Haus beseitigen würden! (1Sam 30,6; 2Sam 17,8; Hi 3,5)26So gingen die Söhne Dans ihren Weg; und weil Micha sah, dass sie stärker waren als er, wandte er sich um und kehrte wieder zu seinem Haus zurück. (Joh 7,53)27Jene aber nahmen mit, was Micha gemacht hatte, samt dem, der sein Priester gewesen war, und überfielen Lais, ein stilles, sorgloses Volk, und schlugen es mit der Schärfe des Schwertes und verbrannten die Stadt mit Feuer. Jene aber bauten die Stadt wieder auf und wohnten darin; (4Mo 13,21; Jos 19,28; 2Sam 10,6; 2Sam 10,8; Pred 4,10)29und sie nannten sie Dan, nach dem Namen ihres Vaters Dan, der dem Israel geboren war; zuvor aber hieß die Stadt Lais. Danites Take the Levite and the Idol
1In those days there was no king in Israel. And in those days the tribe of the people of Dan was seeking for itself an inheritance to dwell in, for until then no inheritance among the tribes of Israel had fallen to them. (Jos 19,47; Ri 1,34; Ri 17,6; Ri 21,25)2So the people of Dan sent five able men from the whole number of their tribe, from Zorah and from Eshtaol, to spy out the land and to explore it. And they said to them, “Go and explore the land.” And they came to the hill country of Ephraim, to the house of Micah, and lodged there. (4Mo 13,17; Jos 2,1; Jos 24,33; Ri 13,25; Ri 17,1; Ri 17,8; Ri 18,8; Ri 18,11)3When they were by the house of Micah, they recognized the voice of the young Levite. And they turned aside and said to him, “Who brought you here? What are you doing in this place? What is your business here?”4And he said to them, “This is how Micah dealt with me: he has hired me, and I have become his priest.” (Ri 17,10)5And they said to him, “Inquire of God, please, that we may know whether the journey on which we are setting out will succeed.” (4Mo 27,21)6And the priest said to them, “Go in peace. He took the ephod and the household gods and the carved image and went along with the people.21So they turned and departed, putting the little ones and the livestock and the goods in front of them. (1Sam 17,22; Jes 10,28)22When they had gone a distance from the home of Micah, the men who were in the houses near Micah’s house were called out, and they overtook the people of Dan.23And they shouted to the people of Dan, who turned around and said to Micah, “What is the matter with you, that you come with such a company?”24And he said, “You take my gods that I made and the priest, and go away, and what have I left? How then do you ask me, ‘What is the matter with you?’” (1Mo 31,30)25And the people of Dan said to him, “Do not let your voice be heard among us, lest angry fellows fall upon you, and you lose your life with the lives of your household.”26Then the people of Dan went their way. And when Micah saw that they were too strong for him, he turned and went back to his home.27But the people of Dan took what Micah had made, and the priest who belonged to him, and they came to Laish, to a people quiet and unsuspecting, and struck them with the edge of the sword and burned the city with fire. (Jos 19,47; Ri 18,7; Ri 18,10)28And there was no deliverer because it was far from Sidon, and they had no dealings with anyone. It was in the valley that belongs to Beth-rehob. Then they rebuilt the city and lived in it. (4Mo 13,21; Jos 19,28; Ri 18,7; 2Sam 10,6)29And they named the city Dan, after the name of Dan their ancestor, who was born to Israel; but the name of the city was Laish at the first.
