1 Und Abraham war alt und recht betagt, und der HERR hatte Abraham gesegnet in allem. (1Mo 12,2; 1Mo 13,2; Ps 112,1; Jes 51,2; Jer 17,7) 2 Und Abraham sprach zu dem ältesten Knecht seines Hauses, der Verwalter aller seiner Güter war: Lege doch deine Hand unter meine Hüfte, (1Mo 15,2; 1Mo 47,29) 3 dass ich dich schwören lasse bei dem HERRN, dem Gott des Himmels und dem Gott der Erde, dass du meinem Sohn keine Frau nimmst von den Töchtern der Kanaaniter, unter denen ich wohne, (1Mo 13,7; 1Mo 28,1; 5Mo 6,13; 5Mo 7,3; Jos 2,12; Jes 66,1; 2Kor 6,14) 4 sondern dass du in mein Vaterland und zu meiner Verwandtschaft ziehst und meinem Sohn Isaak dort eine Frau nimmst! (1Mo 22,20) 5 Da sprach der Knecht zu ihm: Vielleicht will aber die Frau mir nicht in dieses Land folgen — soll ich dann deinen Sohn wieder zurückbringen in das Land, aus dem du ausgezogen bist? (1Mo 24,39; 1Mo 24,58; Spr 13,16; Hebr 11,15) 6 Abraham sprach zu ihm: Hüte dich, meinen Sohn wieder dorthin zu bringen! (Hebr 11,15) 7 Der HERR, der Gott des Himmels, der mich herausgenommen hat aus dem Haus meines Vaters und aus dem Land meiner Geburt, und der mit mir geredet hat und mir auch geschworen und gesagt hat: »Dieses Land will ich deinem Samen geben«, der wird seinen Engel vor dir hersenden, dass du meinem Sohn von dort eine Frau nimmst. (1Mo 12,1; 1Mo 15,18; 2Mo 23,23; 2Mo 33,2; Ps 34,8; Jes 63,9; Dan 2,18; Jon 1,9; Hebr 1,14) 8 Wenn die Frau dir aber nicht folgen will, so bist du entbunden von dem Eid, den du mir geschworen hast; nur bringe meinen Sohn nicht wieder dorthin! (Jos 2,17) 9 Da legte der Knecht seine Hand unter die Hüfte Abrahams, seines Herrn, und schwor ihm in dieser Sache. (1Mo 32,4; 1Mo 33,8) 10 Und der Knecht nahm zehn Kamele von den Kamelen seines Herrn und zog hin mit allerlei Gütern seines Herrn, und er machte sich auf und zog nach Aram-Naharajim[1], zu der Stadt Nahors. (1Mo 11,31; 1Mo 27,43; 5Mo 23,4; Ri 3,8; 1Chr 19,6) 11 Da ließ er die Kamele sich draußen vor der Stadt lagern bei einem Wasserbrunnen am Abend, zur Zeit, da die [Jungfrauen ] herauszugehen pflegten, um Wasser zu schöpfen. (1Mo 33,13; 1Sam 9,11; Spr 12,10) 12 Und er sprach: O HERR, du Gott meines Herrn Abraham, lass es mir doch heute gelingen und erweise Gnade an meinem Herrn Abraham! (1Mo 24,27; 1Mo 24,42; 1Mo 26,24; 2Mo 3,6; 2Mo 3,15; Esr 8,21; Neh 1,11; Ps 37,5; Spr 3,5) 13 Siehe, ich stehe hier bei dem Wasserbrunnen, und die Töchter der Leute dieser Stadt werden herauskommen, um Wasser zu schöpfen. (1Mo 24,11; 1Mo 24,43; 1Sam 9,11) 14 Wenn nun ein Mädchen kommt, zu der ich spreche: »Neige doch deinen Krug, dass ich trinke!«, und sie spricht: »Trinke! Und auch deine Kamele will ich tränken!« — so möge sie diejenige sein, die du deinem Knecht Isaak bestimmt hast; und daran werde ich erkennen, dass du an meinem Herrn Barmherzigkeit erwiesen hast! (Ri 6,17; Ri 6,37; 1Sam 14,10; 2Sam 5,24) 15 Und es geschah, ehe er noch ausgeredet hatte, siehe, da kam Rebekka heraus, die Tochter Bethuels, der ein Sohn der Milka, der Frau Nahors, des Bruders Abrahams war; und sie trug einen Krug auf ihrer Schulter. (1Mo 22,23; Jes 65,24; Dan 9,21; Mt 6,8) 16 Sie war aber ein sehr schönes Mädchen, eine Jungfrau, und kein Mann hatte sie erkannt; und sie stieg zum Brunnen hinab und füllte ihren Krug und stieg wieder herauf. (1Mo 12,14; 1Mo 29,17) 17 Da lief der Knecht ihr entgegen und sprach: Lass mich doch ein wenig Wasser aus deinem Krug trinken! (1Kön 17,10; Joh 4,7) 18 Und sie sprach: Trinke, mein Herr! Und sie ließ den Krug sogleich auf ihre Hand nieder und gab ihm zu trinken. (Spr 31,26; 1Petr 3,8; 1Petr 4,8) 19 Und als sie ihm zu trinken gegeben hatte, sprach sie: Auch deinen Kamelen will ich schöpfen, bis sie genug getrunken haben! (1Mo 24,10; 1Mo 24,14; 1Mo 24,45) 20 Und sie eilte und leerte den Krug aus in die Tränke und lief nochmals zum Brunnen, um zu schöpfen, und schöpfte für alle seine Kamele. (Röm 12,10; Röm 12,13; Hebr 13,1) 21 Und der Mann war erstaunt über sie, schwieg aber still, bis er erkannt hatte, ob der HERR seine Reise habe gelingen lassen oder nicht. (1Mo 24,12; 2Sam 7,18; Esr 8,21; Neh 1,11; Ps 34,1) 22 Und es geschah, als die Kamele alle getrunken hatten, da nahm er einen goldenen Ring, einen halben Schekel schwer, und zwei Armbänder für ihre Hände, zehn Schekel Gold schwer, (Hes 16,11) 23 und sprach: Sage mir doch, wessen Tochter bist du? Haben wir im Haus deines Vaters auch Platz zu übernachten? (1Mo 24,47; Ri 19,15; Ri 20,4) 24 Sie sprach zu ihm: Ich bin die Tochter Bethuels, des Sohnes der Milka, den sie dem Nahor geboren hat. (1Mo 11,29; 1Mo 22,20; 1Mo 22,23; 1Mo 24,47) 25 Und sie sagte weiter zu ihm: Es ist auch viel Stroh und Futter bei uns und Platz genug zum Übernachten! (2Kön 4,8; Hebr 13,1) 26 Da neigte sich der Mann und betete an vor dem HERRN, (2Mo 4,31; 2Chr 20,18) 27 und er sprach: Gelobt sei der HERR, der Gott meines Herrn Abraham, der seine Gnade und Treue meinem Herrn nicht entzogen hat, denn der HERR hat mich den Weg zum Haus der Brüder meines Herrn geführt! (1Mo 14,20; 1Mo 24,49; 2Mo 18,10; Ps 85,11; Ps 98,3; Spr 16,3; Jer 10,23; Dan 3,28; Mi 7,20) 28 Und die Tochter lief und berichtete dies alles im Haus ihrer Mutter. (1Mo 29,12) 29 Und Rebekka hatte einen Bruder, der hieß Laban. Und Laban lief rasch zu dem Mann draußen beim Brunnen. (1Mo 28,2; 1Mo 29,5) 30 Als er nämlich den Ring und die Armbänder an den Händen seiner Schwester gesehen und die Worte seiner Schwester Rebekka gehört hatte, die sprach: So hat der Mann zu mir geredet!, da ging er zu dem Mann, und siehe, der stand bei den Kamelen am Brunnen. (1Mo 24,10) 31 Und er sprach: Komm herein, du Gesegneter des HERRN, warum stehst du draußen? Ich habe das Haus geräumt und für die Kamele Platz gemacht! (1Mo 26,29; Ps 37,22; Ps 115,15; Spr 18,16; Mt 25,34) 32 So führte er den Mann ins Haus und zäumte die Kamele ab und gab ihnen Stroh und Futter, und Wasser, um seine Füße zu waschen und die Füße der Männer, die mit ihm waren, (1Mo 43,24; Ri 19,21) 33 und er setzte ihm zu essen vor. — Er aber sprach: Ich will nicht essen, bevor ich meine Sache vorgetragen habe. Er antwortete: So rede! (Ps 132,3; Joh 4,34; Kol 3,23) 34 Er sprach: Ich bin ein Knecht Abrahams. (1Mo 15,3; 1Mo 24,2) 35 Und der HERR hat meinen Herrn reichlich gesegnet, dass er groß geworden ist, denn er hat ihm Schafe und Rinder, Silber und Gold, Knechte und Mägde, Kamele und Esel gegeben. (1Mo 13,2; 1Mo 24,1; 1Mo 26,13; Ps 18,36; Spr 10,22; 1Tim 4,8) 36 Dazu hat Sarah, die Frau meines Herrn, in ihrem Alter meinem Herrn einen Sohn geboren; dem hat er alles gegeben, was ihm gehört. (1Mo 21,2; 1Mo 25,5) 37 Und mein Herr hat einen Eid von mir genommen und gesagt: Du sollst meinem Sohn keine Frau nehmen von den Töchtern der Kanaaniter, in deren Land ich wohne; (1Mo 24,3; 1Mo 50,5; 1Mo 50,25; Esr 10,5) 38 sondern ziehe hin zum Haus meines Vaters und zu meinem Geschlecht; dort nimm meinem Sohn eine Frau! (1Mo 24,4) 39 Ich sprach aber zu meinem Herrn: Aber vielleicht will mir die Frau nicht folgen? (1Mo 24,5) 40 Da sprach er zu mir: Der HERR, vor dem ich wandle, wird seinen Engel mit dir senden und deinen Weg gelingen lassen, dass du meinem Sohn eine Frau aus meiner Verwandtschaft und aus dem Haus meines Vaters nimmst. (1Mo 17,1; 1Mo 24,12; Ps 16,8) 41 Nur dann sollst du von dem Eid entbunden sein, wenn du zu meiner Verwandtschaft kommst und sie dir diese nicht geben; dann bist du von dem Eid entbunden, den du mir geschworen hast. (1Mo 24,8; 5Mo 29,12) 42 So kam ich heute zum Wasserbrunnen und sprach: O HERR, du Gott meines Herrn Abraham, wenn du doch Gelingen geben wolltest zu meiner Reise, auf der ich bin! (1Mo 24,12) 43 Siehe, ich stehe hier bei dem Wasserbrunnen. Wenn nun eine Jungfrau zum Schöpfen herauskommt und ich spreche: »Gib mir doch aus deinem Krug ein wenig Wasser zu trinken!« (1Mo 24,13; 1Mo 24,14) 44 und sie zu mir sagen wird: »Trinke, ich will deinen Kamelen auch schöpfen!«, so möge doch diese die Frau sein, die der HERR dem Sohn meines Herrn bestimmt hat! (1Petr 4,10) 45 Ehe ich nun diese Worte ausgeredet hatte in meinem Herzen, siehe, da kommt Rebekka mit einem Krug auf ihrer Schulter und geht zum Brunnen hinab und schöpft. Da sprach ich zu ihr: »Gib mir doch zu trinken!« (1Sam 1,13; Neh 2,1) 46 Und sie nahm den Krug sogleich von ihrer Schulter und sprach: »Trinke, und ich will deine Kamele auch tränken!« So trank ich, und sie tränkte auch die Kamele. (1Mo 24,18) 47 Und ich fragte sie und sprach: »Wessen Tochter bist du?« Sie antwortete: »Ich bin die Tochter Bethuels, des Sohnes Nahors, den ihm Milka geboren hat.« Da legte ich einen Ring an ihre Nase und Armbänder an ihre Hände, (1Mo 22,23; 1Mo 24,10; 1Mo 24,22; Jes 3,19) 48 und ich neigte mich und betete an vor dem HERRN und lobte den HERRN, den Gott meines Herrn Abraham, der mich den rechten Weg geführt hat, dass ich seinem Sohn die Tochter des Bruders meines Herrn nehme. (1Mo 24,27; Ps 32,8; Ps 107,7; Jes 48,17) 49 Wenn ihr nun meinem Herrn Liebe und Treue erweisen wollt, so sagt es mir; wenn nicht, so sagt es mir ebenfalls, dass ich mich zur Rechten oder zur Linken wende! (1Mo 24,27; 1Mo 47,29) 50 Da antworteten Laban und Bethuel und sprachen: Diese Sache kommt von dem HERRN; darum können wir nichts gegen dich reden, weder Böses noch Gutes! (1Mo 31,24; 1Sam 3,18; Ps 118,23; Apg 11,17) 51 Siehe, Rebekka ist vor dir! Nimm sie und ziehe hin, damit sie die Frau des Sohnes deines Herrn werde, wie der HERR geredet hat! (1Mo 24,12) 52 Und es geschah, als der Knecht Abrahams ihre Worte hörte, da verneigte er sich vor dem HERRN zur Erde. (1Mo 24,26) 53 Und der Knecht zog silberne und goldene Schmuckstücke und Kleider hervor und gab sie Rebekka; auch ihrem Bruder und ihrer Mutter gab er Kostbarkeiten. (2Chr 21,3) 54 Da aßen und tranken sie, er samt den Männern, die mit ihm waren, und sie blieben dort über Nacht. Aber am Morgen standen sie auf, und er sprach: Lasst mich zu meinem Herrn ziehen! (1Mo 24,56; 1Mo 24,59; 1Mo 30,25) 55 Aber ihr Bruder und ihre Mutter sprachen: Lass doch das Mädchen [noch] einige Tage lang bei uns bleiben, wenigstens zehn, danach magst du ziehen! 56 Da sprach er zu ihnen: Haltet mich nicht auf, denn der HERR hat meinen Weg gelingen lassen; lasst mich zu meinem Herrn ziehen! (1Mo 45,9; Jos 1,8; 2Kön 4,29; Ps 1,3) 57 Da sprachen sie: Lasst uns das Mädchen rufen und fragen, was sie dazu sagt! (Ri 11,36) 58 Und sie riefen Rebekka und sprachen zu ihr: Willst du mit diesem Mann ziehen? Sie antwortete: Ja, ich will mit ihm ziehen! (Lk 1,38) 59 So ließen sie Rebekka, ihre Schwester, ziehen mit ihrer Amme, samt dem Knecht Abrahams und seinen Leuten. (1Mo 35,8) 60 Und sie segneten Rebekka und sprachen zu ihr: Du bist unsere Schwester, werde zu vieltausendmal Tausenden, und dein Same nehme das Tor seiner Feinde in Besitz! (1Mo 22,17; 1Mo 28,3; Ps 127,5) 61 So machten sich Rebekka und ihre Mägde auf, und sie bestiegen die Kamele und folgten dem Mann nach. Und der Knecht nahm Rebekka mit und zog hin. (1Mo 16,1; 1Mo 30,3; 1Mo 30,9) 62 Und Isaak kam vom »Brunnen des Lebendigen, der [mich] sieht« — denn er wohnte im Negev —, (1Mo 13,1; 1Mo 16,14; 1Mo 20,1; 1Mo 25,11) 63 weil Isaak zur Abendzeit auf das Feld gegangen war, um zu beten; und er blickte auf und sah, und siehe, Kamele kamen daher. (1Mo 25,21; Ps 145,18; Mk 1,35; Lk 5,16; Lk 6,12) 64 Und Rebekka blickte auf und sah Isaak. Da ließ sie sich vom Kamel herab 65 und sprach zu dem Knecht: Wer ist jener Mann, der uns auf dem Feld entgegenkommt? Der Knecht sprach: Das ist mein Herr! Da nahm sie den Schleier und verhüllte sich. (1Tim 2,9) 66 Und der Knecht erzählte dem Isaak alles, was er ausgerichtet hatte. (1Mo 29,13; 1Kön 13,11; Mt 14,12; Mk 6,30) 67 Da führte sie Isaak in das Zelt seiner Mutter Sarah und nahm die Rebekka, und sie wurde seine Frau, und er gewann sie lieb. So wurde Isaak getröstet nach dem Tod seiner Mutter. (1Mo 2,24; 1Mo 29,18; 1Mo 29,20; 5Mo 6,5; Mt 22,37; Eph 5,25)

1 Now Abraham was old, well advanced in years. And the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things. (1Mo 13,2; 1Mo 24,35) 2 And Abraham said to his servant, the oldest of his household, who had charge of all that he had, “Put your hand under my thigh, (1Mo 15,2; 1Mo 24,9; 1Mo 47,29) 3 that I may make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell, (1Mo 26,34; 1Mo 27,46; 5Mo 7,3; 2Kor 6,14) 4 but will go to my country and to my kindred, and take a wife for my son Isaac.” (1Mo 28,2) 5 The servant said to him, “Perhaps the woman may not be willing to follow me to this land. Must I then take your son back to the land from which you came?” 6 Abraham said to him, “See to it that you do not take my son back there. 7 The Lord, the God of heaven, who took me from my father’s house and from the land of my kindred, and who spoke to me and swore to me, ‘To your offspring I will give this land,’ he will send his angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from there. (1Mo 24,2) 10 Then the servant took ten of his master’s camels and departed, taking all sorts of choice gifts from his master; and he arose and went to Mesopotamia[1] to the city of Nahor. (5Mo 23,4; Ri 3,8) 11 And he made the camels kneel down outside the city by the well of water at the time of evening, the time when women go out to draw water. (1Sam 9,11; Joh 4,7) 12 And he said, “O Lord, God of my master Abraham, please grant me success today and show steadfast love to my master Abraham. (1Mo 24,27; 1Mo 24,42; 1Mo 24,48; 1Mo 27,20) 13 Behold, I am standing by the spring of water, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water. (1Mo 24,43) 14 Let the young woman to whom I shall say, ‘Please let down your jar that I may drink,’ and who shall say, ‘Drink, and I will water your camels’—let her be the one whom you have appointed for your servant Isaac. By this[2] I shall know that you have shown steadfast love to my master.” (1Mo 15,8) 15 Before he had finished speaking, behold, Rebekah, who was born to Bethuel the son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, came out with her water jar on her shoulder. (1Mo 11,29; 1Mo 22,23) 16 The young woman was very attractive in appearance, a maiden[3] whom no man had known. She went down to the spring and filled her jar and came up. (1Mo 26,7) 17 Then the servant ran to meet her and said, “Please give me a little water to drink from your jar.” 18 She said, “Drink, my lord.” And she quickly let down her jar upon her hand and gave him a drink. 19 When she had finished giving him a drink, she said, “I will draw water for your camels also, until they have finished drinking.” 20 So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough and ran again to the well to draw water, and she drew for all his camels. 21 The man gazed at her in silence to learn whether the Lord had prospered his journey or not. 22 When the camels had finished drinking, the man took a gold ring weighing a half shekel,[4] and two bracelets for her arms weighing ten gold shekels, 23 and said, “Please tell me whose daughter you are. Is there room in your father’s house for us to spend the night?” 24 She said to him, “I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, whom she bore to Nahor.” (1Mo 22,23; 1Mo 24,15) 25 She added, “We have plenty of both straw and fodder, and room to spend the night.” 26 The man bowed his head and worshiped the Lord (1Mo 24,48; 1Mo 24,52; 2Mo 4,31) 27 and said, “Blessed be the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken his steadfast love and his faithfulness toward my master. As for me, the Lord has led me in the way to the house of my master’s kinsmen.” (1Mo 24,12; 1Mo 24,42; 1Mo 24,48; 1Mo 32,10; Ps 98,3) 28 Then the young woman ran and told her mother’s household about these things. 29 Rebekah had a brother whose name was Laban. Laban ran out toward the man, to the spring. (1Mo 25,20; 1Mo 28,2; 1Mo 29,5) 30 As soon as he saw the ring and the bracelets on his sister’s arms, and heard the words of Rebekah his sister, “Thus the man spoke to me,” he went to the man. And behold, he was standing by the camels at the spring. 31 He said, “Come in, O blessed of the Lord. Why do you stand outside? For I have prepared the house and a place for the camels.” (1Mo 26,29; Ri 17,2; Rut 3,10) 32 So the man came to the house and unharnessed the camels, and gave straw and fodder to the camels, and there was water to wash his feet and the feet of the men who were with him. (1Mo 18,4; 1Mo 43,24; Ri 19,21) 33 Then food was set before him to eat. But he said, “I will not eat until I have said what I have to say.” He said, “Speak on.” 34 So he said, “I am Abraham’s servant. 35 The Lord has greatly blessed my master, and he has become great. He has given him flocks and herds, silver and gold, male servants and female servants, camels and donkeys. (1Mo 24,1) 36 And Sarah my master’s wife bore a son to my master when she was old, and to him he has given all that he has. (1Mo 21,2; 1Mo 25,5) 37 My master made me swear, saying, ‘You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell, (1Mo 24,3) 38 but you shall go to my father’s house and to my clan and take a wife for my son.’ 39 I said to my master, ‘Perhaps the woman will not follow me.’ 40 But he said to me, ‘The Lord, before whom I have walked, will send his angel with you and prosper your way. You shall take a wife for my son from my clan and from my father’s house. (1Mo 17,1; 1Mo 24,21) 41 Then you will be free from my oath, when you come to my clan. And if they will not give her to you, you will be free from my oath.’ 42 “I came today to the spring and said, ‘O Lord, the God of my master Abraham, if now you are prospering the way that I go, (1Mo 24,12; 1Mo 24,27; 1Mo 24,40) 43 behold, I am standing by the spring of water. Let the virgin who comes out to draw water, to whom I shall say, “Please give me a little water from your jar to drink,” (1Mo 24,13) 44 and who will say to me, “Drink, and I will draw for your camels also,” let her be the woman whom the Lord has appointed for my master’s son.’ (1Mo 24,14; 1Mo 24,18) 45 “Before I had finished speaking in my heart, behold, Rebekah came out with her water jar on her shoulder, and she went down to the spring and drew water. I said to her, ‘Please let me drink.’ (1Sam 1,13) 46 She quickly let down her jar from her shoulder and said, ‘Drink, and I will give your camels drink also.’ So I drank, and she gave the camels drink also. 47 Then I asked her, ‘Whose daughter are you?’ She said, ‘The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor’s son, whom Milcah bore to him.’ So I put the ring on her nose and the bracelets on her arms. (Hes 16,11) 48 Then I bowed my head and worshiped the Lord and blessed the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who had led me by the right way[5] to take the daughter of my master’s kinsman for his son. (1Mo 22,23; 1Mo 24,26; 1Mo 24,42; 1Mo 24,52) 49 Now then, if you are going to show steadfast love and faithfulness to my master, tell me; and if not, tell me, that I may turn to the right hand or to the left.” (1Mo 47,29; Jos 2,14) 50 Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, “The thing has come from the Lord; we cannot speak to you bad or good. (1Mo 31,24; 2Sam 13,22) 51 Behold, Rebekah is before you; take her and go, and let her be the wife of your master’s son, as the Lord has spoken.” (1Mo 24,13; 1Mo 24,42) 52 When Abraham’s servant heard their words, he bowed himself to the earth before the Lord. (1Mo 24,48) 53 And the servant brought out jewelry of silver and of gold, and garments, and gave them to Rebekah. He also gave to her brother and to her mother costly ornaments. 54 And he and the men who were with him ate and drank, and they spent the night there. When they arose in the morning, he said, “Send me away to my master.” (1Mo 24,56; 1Mo 24,59) 55 Her brother and her mother said, “Let the young woman remain with us a while, at least ten days; after that she may go.” 56 But he said to them, “Do not delay me, since the Lord has prospered my way. Send me away that I may go to my master.” 57 They said, “Let us call the young woman and ask her.” 58 And they called Rebekah and said to her, “Will you go with this man?” She said, “I will go.” 59 So they sent away Rebekah their sister and her nurse, and Abraham’s servant and his men. (1Mo 35,8) 60 And they blessed Rebekah and said to her, “Our sister, may you become thousands of ten thousands, and may your offspring possess the gate of those who hate him!”[6] (1Mo 17,16; 1Mo 22,17) 61 Then Rebekah and her young women arose and rode on the camels and followed the man. Thus the servant took Rebekah and went his way. 62 Now Isaac had returned from Beer-lahai-roi and was dwelling in the Negeb. (1Mo 16,14; 1Mo 25,11) 63 And Isaac went out to meditate in the field toward evening. And he lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, there were camels coming. (Ps 77,12; Ps 143,5) 64 And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she dismounted from the camel 65 and said to the servant, “Who is that man, walking in the field to meet us?” The servant said, “It is my master.” So she took her veil and covered herself. 66 And the servant told Isaac all the things that he had done. 67 Then Isaac brought her into the tent of Sarah his mother and took Rebekah, and she became his wife, and he loved her. So Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death. (1Mo 23,2; 1Mo 37,35; 1Mo 38,12)
