Mielul și cei o sută patruzeci și patru de mii

1 M‑am uitat și iată că Mielul stătea pe muntele Sion, și împreună cu El erau o sută patruzeci și patru de mii, care aveau scrise pe frunțile lor Numele Lui și Numele Tatălui Său. 2 Și am auzit un glas din cer, ca vuietul multor ape și ca sunetul unui tunet puternic. Sunetul pe care l‑am auzit era ca al kitharozilor^[1] care cântă la kitharele lor. (Apo 5:8) 3 Ei cântau o cântare nouă înaintea tronului și înaintea celor patru ființe vii și a bătrânilor. Nimeni nu putea să învețe acea cântare, în afară de cei o sută patruzeci și patru de mii care fuseseră răscumpărați de pe pământ. 4 Aceștia sunt cei care nu s‑au pângărit cu femei, căci sunt virgini. Ei Îl urmează pe Miel oriunde merge. Aceștia au fost răscumpărați dintre oameni ca prime roade pentru Dumnezeu și pentru Miel. 5 Și în gura lor nu s‑a găsit minciună; ei sunt fără cusur.

Mesajele celor trei îngeri

6 Am văzut un alt înger, care zbura în înaltul cerului. El avea de vestit Evanghelia veșnică celor ce trăiesc pe pământ – la fiecare neam, seminție, limbă și popor. 7 El spunea cu glas tare: „Fiți temători de Dumnezeu și dați‑I slavă, pentru că a sosit ceasul judecății Lui! Închinați‑vă Celui Ce a făcut cerul, pământul, marea și izvoarele de apă!“ 8 Un alt înger, al doilea, a urmat, zicând: „A căzut, a căzut Babilonul, cetatea cea mare, care a dat să bea la toate neamurile din vinul^[2] furiei curviei ei^[3]!“ (Is 51:17; Ier 25:15; Ez 23:32) 9 Un alt înger, al treilea, le‑a urmat, zicând cu glas tare: „Dacă se închină cineva fiarei și chipului ei și primește un semn pe frunte sau pe mână, 10 va bea și el din vinul furiei lui Dumnezeu, turnat neamestecat^[4] în paharul mâniei Lui, și va fi chinuit în foc și sulf înaintea îngerilor sfinți și înaintea Mielului. 11 Fumul chinului lor se ridică în vecii vecilor. Și nu au odihnă nici ziua, nici noaptea, cei ce se închină fiarei și chipului ei și cei ce primesc semnul numelui ei.“ 12 Aici este răbdarea sfinților – a celor ce păzesc poruncile lui Dumnezeu și credința în Isus.^[5] 13 Am auzit un glas din cer, zicând: „Scrie: fericiți sunt cei morți, cei care, de acum încolo, mor în Domnul! Da, zice Duhul, pentru că ei se vor odihni de ostenelile lor, căci faptele lor îi urmează.“ 14 Apoi m‑am uitat și iată că era un nor alb, iar pe nor ședea „cineva care era ca un fiu al omului“^[6]. Avea pe cap o coroană de aur, iar în mână avea o seceră ascuțită. (Dan 7:13; Mat 13:39; Apo 1:13) 15 Un alt înger a ieșit din Templu, strigându‑i cu glas tare celui ce ședea pe nor: „Trimite secera ta și seceră, întrucât a sosit ceasul să seceri, pentru că recolta pământului este coaptă!“ 16 Cel ce ședea pe nor și‑a aruncat secera pe pământ și pământul a fost secerat. 17 Un alt înger a ieșit din Templul care este în cer, având și el o seceră ascuțită. 18 Un alt înger, care are autoritate peste foc, a ieșit de la altar și a strigat cu glas tare către cel ce avea secera ascuțită, zicând: „Trimite secera ta ascuțită și culege ciorchinii de struguri ai viței pământului, pentru că strugurii ei sunt copți!“ 19 Îngerul și‑a aruncat secera pe pământ, a cules vița pământului și a aruncat strugurii în teascul cel mare al furiei lui Dumnezeu. 20 Teascul a fost călcat în picioare în afara cetății și din teasc a ieșit sânge până la zăbalele cailor, pe o distanță de o mie șase sute de stadii^[7].

The Lamb and the 144,000

1 I looked, and there in front of me was the Lamb. He was standing on Mount Zion. With him were 144,000 people. Written on their foreheads were his name and his Father’s name. 2 I heard a sound from heaven. It was like the roar of rushing waters and loud thunder. The sound I heard was like the music of harps being played. 3 Then everyone sang a new song in front of the throne. They sang it in front of the four living creatures and the elders. No one could learn the song except the 144,000. They had been set free from the evil of the earth. 4 They had not committed sexual sins with women. They had kept themselves pure. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were purchased from among human beings as a first offering to God and the Lamb. 5 They told no lies. They are without blame.

The three angels

6 I saw another angel. He was flying high in the air. He came to tell everyone on earth the good news that will always be true. He told it to every nation, tribe and people, no matter what language they spoke. 7 In a loud voice he said, ‘Have respect for God. Give him glory. The hour has come for God to judge. Worship him who made the heavens and the earth. Worship him who made the sea and the springs of water.’ 8 A second angel followed him. He said, ‘ “Fallen! Babylon the Great has fallen!” The city of Babylon made all the nations drink the strong wine of her terrible sins.’ (Is 21:9) 9 A third angel followed them. He said in a loud voice, ‘There will be trouble for anyone who worships the beast and its statue! There will be trouble for anyone who has its mark on their forehead or their hand! 10 They, too, will drink the wine of God’s great anger. His wine has been poured full strength into the cup of his anger. They will be burned with flaming sulphur. The holy angels and the Lamb will see it happen. 11 The smoke of their terrible suffering will rise for ever and ever. Day and night, there will be no rest for anyone who worships the beast and its statue. There will be no rest for anyone who receives the mark of its name.’ 12 God’s people need to be very patient. They are the ones who obey God’s commands. And they remain faithful to Jesus. 13 Then I heard a voice from heaven. ‘Write this’, it said. ‘Blessed are the dead who die as believers in the Lord from now on.’ ‘Yes’, says the Holy Spirit. ‘They will rest from their labour. What they have done will not be forgotten.’

The harvest of the earth

14 I looked, and there in front of me was a white cloud. Sitting on the cloud was one who looked ‘like a son of man.’ He wore a gold crown on his head. In his hand was a sharp, curved blade for cutting corn. (Dan 7:13) 15 Then another angel came out of the temple. He called in a loud voice to the one sitting on the cloud. ‘Take your blade,’ he said. ‘Cut the corn. The time has come. The earth is ready to be harvested.’ 16 So the one sitting on the cloud swung his blade over the earth. And the earth was harvested. 17 Another angel came out of the temple in heaven. He too had a sharp, curved blade. 18 Still another angel came from the altar. He was in charge of the fire on the altar. He called out in a loud voice to the angel who had the sharp blade. ‘Take your blade,’ he said, ‘and gather the bunches of grapes from the earth’s vine. Its grapes are ripe.’ 19 So the angel swung his blade over the earth. He gathered its grapes. Then he threw them into a huge winepress. The winepress stands for God’s anger. 20 In the winepress outside the city, the grapes were trampled on. Blood flowed out of the winepress. It spread over the land for about 180 miles. It rose as high as the horses’ heads.
