3 un glas al celui ce strigă în pustie: «Pregătiți calea Domnului, neteziți‑I cărările!»“ 4 S‑a arătat Ioan, cel ce boteza în pustie și proclama botezul pocăinței spre iertarea păcatelor. 5 Tot ținutul Iudeei și toți ierusalimiții au început să iasă la el și, mărturisindu‑și păcatele, erau botezați de el în râul Iordan. 6 Ioan era îmbrăcat într‑o haină din păr de cămilă, iar în jurul mijlocului avea un brâu de piele.^[7] El se hrănea cu lăcuste^[8] și cu miere sălbatică. Botezul lui Isus

9 În acele zile, Isus a venit din Nazaretul Galileei și a fost botezat de către Ioan în Iordan. (Mat 3:13; Lu 3:21; Ioan 1:32) 10 Și imediat după ce a ieșit din apă, El a văzut cerurile deschise și Duhul coborând spre El asemenea unui porumbel. 11 Și din ceruri s‑a auzit un glas: „Tu ești Fiul Meu preaiubit; în Tine Îmi găsesc plăcerea!“^[10] (Ps 2:7; Is 42:1)

Ispitirea lui Isus în pustie

Acolo stătea împreună cu animalele sălbatice, iar îngerii Îi slujeau^[15]. Primii ucenici

14 După ce Ioan a fost închis, Isus a venit în Galileea, proclamând Evanghelia lui^[16] Dumnezeu. (Mat 4:12; Lu 4:14; Lu 5:2) 15 El zicea: „S‑a împlinit vremea! S‑a apropiat Împărăția lui Dumnezeu^[17]! Pocăiți‑vă și credeți în Evanghelie!“ 16 În timp ce trecea pe lângă Marea Galileei^[18], Isus i‑a văzut pe Simon și pe Andrei, fratele lui Simon, aruncând un năvod în mare, căci erau pescari. 17 Isus le‑a zis: „Veniți după Mine și vă voi face să fiți pescari de oameni!“ 18 Ei și‑au lăsat imediat năvoadele și L‑au urmat. 19 Mergând puțin mai încolo, i‑a văzut pe Iacov, fiul lui Zebedei, și pe Ioan, fratele lui. Ei erau într‑o barcă și își reparau năvoadele. 20 Imediat i‑a chemat, iar ei l‑au lăsat pe tatăl lor, Zebedei, în barcă, împreună cu cei angajați, și L‑au urmat.

Isus vindecă în Capernaum un om demonizat

21 S‑au dus în Capernaum și, imediat, în ziua de Sabat, Isus a intrat în sinagogă^[19] și a început să dea învățătură. (Lu 4:31) 22 Ei erau uimiți de învățătura Lui, căci El îi învăța ca Unul Care are autoritate, nu cum îi învățau cărturarii^[20]. 23 Chiar atunci, în sinagoga lor era un om care avea în el un duh necurat. El a strigat, 24 zicând: – Ce avem noi de‑a face cu Tine, Isuse din Nazaret? Ai venit să ne distrugi? Știu Cine ești: Sfântul lui Dumnezeu! 25 Isus l‑a mustrat, zicând: – Taci și ieși afară din el! 26 Atunci duhul necurat a ieșit din el, scuturându‑l și strigând cu glas tare. 27 Toți au rămas uimiți, așa că se întrebau între ei, zicând: „Ce este aceasta? Este o învățătură nouă, care are autoritate! El poruncește chiar și duhurilor necurate, iar ele Îl ascultă!“ 28 Și I s‑a dus vestea imediat pretutindeni, în întreaga vecinătate a Galileei.

Isus vindecă bolnavii

29 Imediat după ce au ieșit din sinagogă, au intrat împreună cu Iacov și Ioan în casa lui Simon și a lui Andrei. (Mat 8:14; Lu 4:38) 30 Soacra lui Simon era întinsă în pat, având febră, și ei I‑au vorbit imediat despre ea. 31 El S‑a apropiat, a apucat‑o de mână și a ridicat‑o. Și febra a lăsat‑o, iar ea a început să le slujească. 32 Când s‑a lăsat seara, după ce a apus soarele, au adus la El pe toți cei bolnavi și pe cei demonizați. 33 Întreaga cetate era adunată la ușă. 34 El i‑a vindecat pe mulți care sufereau de diferite boli și a alungat mulți demoni. Pe demoni nu‑i lăsa să vorbească, pentru că Îl cunoșteau.

Isus predică în Galileea

35 Dis‑de‑dimineață, când încă era foarte întuneric, Isus S‑a sculat, a ieșit și S‑a dus într‑un loc pustiu. Și Se ruga acolo. (Lu 4:42) 36 Dar Simon și cei ce erau cu El au început să‑L caute 37 și, când L‑au găsit, I‑au zis: – Toți Te caută! 38 Isus le‑a răspuns: – Să mergem în altă parte, în satele învecinate, ca să predic și acolo, căci pentru aceasta am ieșit! 39 Și S‑a dus în toată Galileea, predicând în sinagogi și alungând demoni.

Curățirea unui bolnav de lepră

40 A venit la El un lepros^[21] care a îngenuncheat și L‑a rugat, zicând: – Dacă vrei, poți să mă curățești^[22]! (Lev 13:1; Mat 8:2; Lu 5:12) 41 Cuprins de milă^[23], Isus a întins mâna, l‑a atins și i‑a zis: – Da, vreau. Fii curățit! (Mar 3:5; Mar 10:14) 42 Și imediat lepra s‑a îndepărtat de la el și a fost curățit. 43 Isus i‑a spus să plece imediat, avertizându‑l 44 și zicându‑i: – Vezi să nu spui nimănui nimic, ci du‑te, arată‑te preotului și adu pentru curățirea ta ceea ce a poruncit Moise^[24], ca mărturie pentru ei. (Lev 14:1) 45 Dar el, ieșind, a început să proclame și să răspândească vestea atât de mult, încât Isus nu mai putea să intre pe față în cetate, ci stătea afară, în locuri pustii. Și oamenii veneau la El de pretutindeni.

John the Baptist prepares the way

1 This is the beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God. 2 Long ago Isaiah the prophet wrote, ‘I will send my messenger ahead of you. He will prepare your way.’ (Mal 3:1) 3 ‘A messenger is calling out in the desert, “Prepare the way for the Lord. Make straight paths for him.” ’ (Is 40:3) 4 And so John the Baptist appeared in the desert. He preached that people should be baptised and turn away from their sins. Then God would forgive them. 5 All the people from the countryside of Judea went out to him. All the people from Jerusalem went too. When they admitted they had sinned, John baptised them in the River Jordan. 6 John wore clothes made out of camel’s hair. He had a leather belt around his waist. And he ate locusts and wild honey. 7 Here is what John was preaching. ‘After me, there is someone coming who is more powerful than I am. I’m not good enough to bend down and untie his sandals. 8 I baptise you with water. But he will baptise you with the Holy Spirit.’

Jesus is baptised and tempted

9 At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee. John baptised Jesus in the River Jordan. 10 Jesus was coming up out of the water. Just then he saw heaven being torn open. Jesus saw the Holy Spirit coming down on him like a dove. 11 A voice spoke to him from heaven. It said, ‘You are my Son, and I love you. I am very pleased with you.’ 12 At once the Holy Spirit sent Jesus out into the desert. 13 He was in the desert 40 days. There Satan tempted him. The wild animals didn’t harm Jesus. Angels took care of him.

Jesus preaches the good news

14 After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee. He preached the good news of God. 15 ‘The time has come,’ he said. ‘The kingdom of God has come near. Turn away from your sins and believe the good news!’

Jesus chooses his first disciples

16 One day Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee. There he saw Simon and his brother Andrew. They were throwing a net into the lake. They were fishermen. 17 ‘Come and follow me,’ Jesus said. ‘I will send you out to fish for people.’ 18 At once they left their nets and followed him. 19 Then Jesus walked a little further. As he did, he saw James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They were in a boat preparing their nets. 20 Right away he called out to them. They left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men. Then they followed Jesus.

Jesus drives out an evil spirit

21 Jesus and those with him went to Capernaum. When the Sabbath day came, he went into the synagogue. There he began to teach. 22 The people were amazed at his teaching. That’s because he taught them like one who had authority. He did not talk like the teachers of the law. 23 Just then a man in their synagogue cried out. He was controlled by an evil spirit. He said, 24 ‘What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are. You are the Holy One of God!’ 25 ‘Be quiet!’ said Jesus firmly. ‘Come out of him!’ 26 The evil spirit shook the man wildly. Then it came out of him with a scream. 27 All the people were amazed. So they asked each other, ‘What is this? A new teaching! And with so much authority! He even gives orders to evil spirits, and they obey him.’ 28 News about Jesus spread quickly all over Galilee.

Jesus heals many people

29 Jesus and those with him left the synagogue. Right away they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. 30 Simon’s mother-in-law was lying in bed with a fever. They told Jesus about her right away. 31 So he went to her. He took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her. Then she began to serve them. 32 That evening after sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who were ill. They also brought all who were controlled by demons. 33 All the people in town gathered at the door. 34 Jesus healed many of them. They had all kinds of diseases. He also drove out many demons. But he would not let the demons speak, because they knew who he was.

Jesus prays in a quiet place

35 It was very early in the morning and still dark. Jesus got up and left the house. He went to a place where he could be alone. There he prayed. 36 Simon and his friends went to look for Jesus. 37 When they found him, they called out, ‘Everyone is looking for you!’ 38 Jesus replied, ‘Let’s go somewhere else. I want to go to the nearby towns. I must preach there also. That is why I have come.’ 39 So he travelled all around Galilee. He preached in their synagogues. He also drove out demons.

Jesus heals a man who had a skin disease

40 A man who had a skin disease came to Jesus. On his knees he begged Jesus. He said, ‘If you are willing to make me “clean”, you can do it.’ 41 Jesus became angry. He reached out his hand and touched the man. ‘I am willing to do it,’ Jesus said. ‘Be “clean”!’ 42 Right away the disease left the man, and he was ‘clean’. 43 Jesus sent him away at once. He gave the man a strong warning. 44 ‘Don’t tell this to anyone,’ he said. ‘Go and show yourself to the priest. Offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded. It will be a witness to the priest and the people that you are “clean”. ’ 45 But the man went out and started talking right away. He spread the news to everyone. So Jesus could no longer enter a town openly. He stayed outside in lonely places. But people still came to him from everywhere.
