Письмо к изгнанникам

1 Вот слова письма, которое пророк Иеремия написал из Иерусалима к уцелевшим старейшинам среди пленников, к священникам, пророкам и ко всему народу, который был уведен Навуходоносором в плен из Иерусалима в Вавилон. 2 (Это произошло после того, как царь Иехония, царица-мать, придворные сановники и вожди Иудеи и Иерусалима, ремесленники и кузнецы были уведены из Иерусалима в плен.) 3 Он поручил доставить письмо Эласе, сыну Шафана, и Гемарии, сыну Хелкии, которых Цедекия, царь Иудеи, отправил к царю Навуходоносору в Вавилон. Я соберу вас из всех народов и земель, куда изгнал, – возвещает Господь, – и верну вас на место, с которого отправил вас в плен. 15 Но поскольку вы говорите: „Господь дал нам пророков и в Вавилоне“, 16 так говорит Господь о царе, что сидит на престоле Давида, и обо всем народе, который остался в этом городе, о ваших соплеменниках, которые не пошли вместе с вами в плен – 17 так говорит Господь Сил: Я пошлю на них меч, голод и мор и сделаю их такими, как гнилой инжир, который так плох, что его нельзя есть. 18 Я буду преследовать их мечом, голодом и мором, и станут они ненавистны всем царствам на земле, станут предметом проклятий и ужаса, издевательств и презрения у всех народов, к которым Я их изгоню. 19 Ведь они не слушались Моих слов, – возвещает Господь, – которые Я посылал к ним через Моих слуг, пророков; посылал снова и снова, а вы не слушались, – возвещает Господь. 20 А ныне слушайте слово Господне, все изгнанники, которых Я выслал из Иерусалима в Вавилон. 21 Так говорит Господь Сил, Бог Израиля, об Ахаве, сыне Колаи, и Цедекии, сыне Маасеи, которые Моим именем пророчествуют вам ложь: Я отдаю их во власть Навуходоносора, царя Вавилона, а он предаст их смерти у вас на глазах. 22 От них среди всех изгнанников из Иудеи, которые в Вавилоне, поведется проклятие: „Пусть Господь поступит с тобой так же, как с Цедекией и Ахавом, которых царь Вавилона сжег на костре“. 23 Ведь они наделали в Израиле гнусностей: они нарушали супружескую верность с чужими женами и говорили Моим именем ложь, то, что Я им не повелевал. Послание Шемае

24 – Скажи нехеламитянину Шемае: 25 «Так говорит Господь Сил, Бог Израиля: Ты посылал письма от своего имени ко всему народу в Иерусалиме, к священнику Софонии, сыну Маасеи, и ко всем остальным священникам. В письме ты написал Софонии: 26 „Господь сделал тебя священником вместо Иодая, чтобы при доме Господа были смотрители, и чтобы каждого, кто выдает себя за пророка, забивали в колодки и надевали ему на шею железный хомут. 27 Что же ты не остановишь Иеремию из Анатота, который выдает себя за пророка? 28 Он послал к нам в Вавилон сказать: «Это надолго. Стройте дома и селитесь, разводите сады и ешьте их плоды»“». 29 Но священник Софония прочитал это письмо пророку Иеремии. 30 И было Иеремии Господне слово: 31 – Отправь послание всем изгнанникам: Так говорит Господь о нехеламитянине Шемае: За то, что Шемая пророчествовал вам, хотя Я его не посылал, и заставил вас поверить лжи, 32 так говорит Господь: Я непременно накажу нехеламитянина Шемаю и его потомков. Jeremiah’s Letter to the Exiles

1 These are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders of the exiles, and to the priests, the prophets, and all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had taken into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon. (Jer 23,33; Hes 8,1) 2 This was after King Jeconiah and the queen mother, the eunuchs, the officials of Judah and Jerusalem, the craftsmen, and the metal workers had departed from Jerusalem. (2Kön 24,12; 2Kön 24,14; Jer 24,1) 3 The letter was sent by the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent to Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. It said: (1Chr 6,13; 2Chr 34,8) 4 “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: 5 Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their produce. (Jer 29,28) 6 Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease. 7 But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare. 9 for it is a lie that they are prophesying to you in my name; I did not send them, declares the Lord. 14 I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile. (Jer 8,3; Jer 23,3; Jer 30,3) 15 “Because you have said, ‘The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon,’ 16 thus says the Lord concerning the king who sits on the throne of David, and concerning all the people who dwell in this city, your kinsmen who did not go out with you into exile: (Jer 22,2) 17 ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, behold, I am sending on them sword, famine, and pestilence, and I will make them like vile figs that are so rotten they cannot be eaten. (Jer 24,8; Jer 24,10) 18 I will pursue them with sword, famine, and pestilence, and will make them a horror to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, a terror, a hissing, and a reproach among all the nations where I have driven them, (Jer 15,4; Jer 18,16; Jer 24,9; Jer 29,14; Jer 29,17; Jer 42,18)

19 because they did not pay attention to my words, declares the Lord, that I persistently sent to you by my servants the prophets, but you would not listen, declares the Lord.’ (Jer 25,4) 20 Hear the word of the Lord, all you exiles whom I sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon: (Jer 24,5) 21 ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah and Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who are prophesying a lie to you in my name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he shall strike them down before your eyes. (Jer 14,14; Jer 29,9) 22 Because of them this curse shall be used by all the exiles from Judah in Babylon: “The Lord make you like Zedekiah and Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire,” (Jes 65,15; Jer 24,9; Dan 3,6) 23 because they have done an outrageous thing in Israel, they have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and they have spoken in my name lying words that I did not command them. I am the one who knows, and I am witness, declares the Lord.’” (Jer 23,14; Mal 3,5)

Shemaiah’s False Prophecy

24 To Shemaiah of Nehelam you shall say: (Jer 29,31) 25 “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: You have sent letters in your name to all the people who are in Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying, (2Kön 25,18; Jer 21,1; Jer 35,4) 26 ‘The Lord has made you priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, to have charge in the house of the Lord over every madman who prophesies, to put him in the stocks and neck irons. 27 Now why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth who is prophesying to you? (Jer 1,1; Jer 32,7) 28 For he has sent to us in Babylon, saying, “Your exile will be long; build houses and live in them, and plant gardens and eat their produce.”’” (Jer 29,5) 29 Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the hearing of Jeremiah the prophet. (Jer 29,25) 30 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: (Jer 29,1; Jer 29,20) 31 “Send to all the exiles, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord concerning Shemaiah of Nehelam: Because Shemaiah had prophesied to you when I did not send him, and has made you trust in a lie, (Jer 5,31; Jer 29,9; Jer 29,24) 32 therefore thus says the Lord: Behold, I will punish Shemaiah of Nehelam and his descendants. He shall not have anyone living among this people, and he shall not see the good that I will do to my people, declares the Lord, for he has spoken rebellion against the Lord.’” (Jer 17,6; Jer 28,16; Jer 29,31)
