Он разделил детей между Лией, Рахилью и двумя служанками.2Он поставил служанок и их детей впереди, Лию и ее детей за ними, а Рахиль с Иосифом позади всех.3Сам же он пошел вперед и, приближаясь к брату, поклонился до земли семь раз.4Но Исав побежал Иакову навстречу, обнял его, бросился ему на шею и расцеловал его, и они заплакали.5Исав посмотрел, увидел женщин и детей и спросил: – Кто это с тобой? Иаков ответил: – Это дети, которых Бог милостиво дал твоему слуге.6Подошли служанки со своими детьми и поклонились.7Потом подошли и поклонились Лия и ее дети. После всех подошли Иосиф и Рахиль и тоже поклонились.8Исав спросил Иакова: – Почему ты послал все эти стада мне навстречу? – Я хотел найти расположение в твоих глазах, мой господин, – ответил он.9Исав сказал: – У меня всего вдоволь, брат. Оставь свое себе.10– Нет, прошу тебя! – сказал Иаков. – Если я нашел расположение в твоих глазах, то прими от меня этот дар. Для меня видеть твое лицо – это как увидеть лицо Бога, ты ведь принял меня так милостиво.11Пожалуйста, прими от меня эти дары, потому что Бог был милостив ко мне, и у меня есть все, что мне нужно. Иаков настаивал, и Исав принял дары.12Потом Исав сказал: – Идем, пора отправляться в путь, я буду держаться рядом с тобой.13Но Иаков ответил: – Мой господин знает, что дети слабы и что я должен заботиться о дойных овцах и коровах: если их сильно гнать хотя бы один день, то животные погибнут.14Так что пусть мой господин идет впереди своего слуги, а я пойду медленно, как смогут идти стада впереди меня и как смогут идти дети, пока не приду к моему господину в Сеир.15Исав сказал: – Позволь мне оставить с тобой несколько моих людей. – Зачем же? – спросил Иаков. – Достаточно и того, что я нашел расположение в глазах моего господина.16Так что Исав в тот же день отправился в обратный путь к себе в Сеир.17Иаков же пошел в Суккот, где он построил себе жилище и сделал шалаши для скота. Jacob Meets Esau
1And Jacob lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, Esau was coming, and four hundred men with him. So he divided the children among Leah and Rachel and the two female servants. (1Mo 32,6)2And he put the servants with their children in front, then Leah with her children, and Rachel and Joseph last of all.3He himself went on before them, bowing himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother. (1Mo 18,2; 1Mo 42,6; 1Mo 43,26)4But Esau ran to meet him and embraced him and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept. (1Mo 32,28; 1Mo 45,14)5And when Esau lifted up his eyes and saw the women and children, he said, “Who are these with you?” Jacob said, “The children whom God has graciously given your servant.” (1Mo 48,9; Ps 127,3; Jes 8,18)6Then the servants drew near, they and their children, and bowed down.7Leah likewise and her children drew near and bowed down. And last Joseph and Rachel drew near, and they bowed down.8Esau said, “What do you mean by all this company[1] that I met?” Jacob answered, “To find favor in the sight of my lord.” (1Mo 32,5; 1Mo 32,16; 1Mo 33,15)9But Esau said, “I have enough, my brother; keep what you have for yourself.”10Jacob said, “No, please, if I have found favor in your sight, then accept my present from my hand. (1Mo 18,1; 1Mo 19,1)11Please accept my blessing that is brought to you, because God has dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough.” Thus he urged him, and he took it. (2Sam 13,25; 2Sam 13,27; 2Kön 5,15; 2Kön 5,23)12Then Esau said, “Let us journey on our way, and I will go ahead of[2] you.”13But Jacob said to him, “My lord knows that the children are frail, and that the nursing flocks and herds are a care to me. If they are driven hard for one day, all the flocks will die.14Let my lord pass on ahead of his servant, and I will lead on slowly, at the pace of the livestock that are ahead of me and at the pace of the children, until I come to my lord in Seir.” (1Mo 32,3)15So Esau said, “Let me leave with you some of the people who are with me.” But he said, “What need is there? Let me find favor in the sight of my lord.” (1Mo 33,8; 1Mo 34,11; 1Mo 47,25; Rut 2,13)16So Esau returned that day on his way to Seir. (1Mo 32,3)17But Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built himself a house and made booths for his livestock. Therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.[3] (Jos 13,27; Ri 8,5; Ps 60,6)18And Jacob came safely[4] to the city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, on his way from Paddan-aram, and he camped before the city. (Jos 24,1; Ri 9,1; Ps 60,6; Apg 7,16)19And from the sons of Hamor, Shechem’s father, he bought for a hundred pieces of money[5] the piece of land on which he had pitched his tent. (Jos 24,32; Joh 4,5; Apg 7,16)20There he erected an altar and called it El-Elohe-Israel.[6]
