Psalm 36

New International Version

For the director of music. Of David the servant of the Lord.

1 I have a message from God in my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before their eyes. 

2 In their own eyes they flatter themselves too much to detect or hate their sin. 

3 The words of their mouths are wicked and deceitful; they fail to act wisely or do good. 

4 Even on their beds they plot evil; they commit themselves to a sinful course and do not reject what is wrong. 

5 Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. 

6 Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. You, Lord, preserve both people and animals. 

7 How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings. 

8 They feast in the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights. 

9 For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light. 

10 Continue your love to those who know you, your righteousness to the upright in heart. 

11 May the foot of the proud not come against me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away. 

12 See how the evildoers lie fallen – thrown down, not able to rise!

1 Dem Vorsänger. Von David, dem Knecht des Herrn. (Ps 18:1) 

2 Ein Urteil über die Abtrünnigkeit des Gottlosen [kommt] aus der Tiefe meines Herzens: Die Gottesfurcht gilt nichts vor seinen Augen! (Ps 10:4; Ps 14:1; Ps 53:2; Ps 119:158; Jer 39:5; Ro 3:18; Jud 1:4; Jud 1:9) 

3 Denn es schmeichelt ihm in seinen Augen, seine Missetat zu vollbringen, zu hassen. (De 29:18; Pr 14:12; Heb 12:15) 

4 Die Worte seines Mundes sind Lug und Trug; er hat aufgehört, verständig zu sein und Gutes zu tun. (Ps 10:7; Ps 12:3; Ps 109:17; Jer 5:3; Jer 19:15) 

5 Auf seinem Lager brütet er Bosheit aus, er stellt sich auf einen Weg, der nicht gut ist; das Böse verabscheut er nicht. — (Ps 97:10; Pr 2:14; Isa 59:5; Isa 65:2; Mic 2:1; Ro 12:9) 

6 HERR, deine Gnade reicht bis zum Himmel, deine Treue bis zu den Wolken! (Ps 57:11; Ps 108:5)

9 Sie laben sich an den reichen Gütern deines Hauses, mit dem Strom deiner Wonne tränkst du sie. (Ps 16:11; Ps 63:6; Ps 84:7; Isa 58:11)

12 Lass den Fuß der Hochmütigen mich nicht erreichen, und die Hand der Gottlosen mich nicht vertreiben! (Ps 71:4; Ps 140:5) 

13 Dort sind die Übeltäter gefallen; sie wurden niedergestoßen und konnten nicht mehr aufstehen. (Ps 27:2; Ps 37:2; Ps 101:8; Pr 4:19)
