1After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves.2There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.3Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.4Peter said to Jesus, ‘Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters – one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.’5While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!’6When the disciples heard this, they fell face down to the ground, terrified.7But Jesus came and touched them. ‘Get up,’ he said. ‘Don’t be afraid.’8When they looked up, they saw no-one except Jesus.9As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, ‘Don’t tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.’10The disciples asked him, ‘Why then do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?’11Jesus replied, ‘To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things.12But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognise him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.’13Then the disciples understood that he was talking to them about John the Baptist.
Jesus heals a demon-possessed boy
14When they came to the crowd, a man approached Jesus and knelt before him.15‘Lord, have mercy on my son,’ he said. ‘He has seizures and is suffering greatly. He often falls into the fire or into the water.16I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him.’17‘You unbelieving and perverse generation,’ Jesus replied, ‘how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.’18Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed at that moment.19Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, ‘Why couldn’t we drive it out?’20-21He replied, ‘Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, “Move from here to there,” and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.’[1] (Mr 9:29)
Jesus predicts his death a second time
22When they came together in Galilee, he said to them, ‘The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men.23They will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised to life.’ And the disciples were filled with grief.
The temple tax
24After Jesus and his disciples arrived in Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma temple tax came to Peter and asked, ‘Doesn’t your teacher pay the temple tax?’25‘Yes, he does,’ he replied. When Peter came into the house, Jesus was the first to speak. ‘What do you think, Simon?’ he asked. ‘From whom do the kings of the earth collect duty and taxes – from their own children or from others?’26‘From others,’ Peter answered. ‘Then the children are exempt,’ Jesus said to him.27‘But so that we may not cause offence, go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours.’

Die Verklärung Jesu
1Und nach sechs Tagen nahm Jesus den Petrus, den Jakobus und dessen Bruder Johannes mit sich und führte sie beiseite auf einen hohen Berg. (Mt 26:37; Mr 5:37)2Und er wurde vor ihnen verklärt, und sein Angesicht leuchtete wie die Sonne, und seine Kleider wurden weiß wie das Licht. (Da 7:9; 2Co 3:18; Php 3:21; Re 1:16)3Und siehe, es erschienen ihnen Mose und Elia, die redeten mit ihm.4Da begann Petrus und sprach zu Jesus: Herr, es ist gut, dass wir hier sind! Wenn du willst, so lass uns hier drei Hütten bauen, dir eine und Mose eine und Elia eine. (Joh 17:24; Php 1:23)5Als er noch redete, siehe, da überschattete sie eine lichte Wolke, und siehe, eine Stimme aus der Wolke sprach: Dies ist mein geliebter Sohn, an dem ich Wohlgefallen habe; auf ihn sollt ihr hören! (Mal 3:23; Mt 11:14)11Jesus aber antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Elia kommt freilich zuvor und wird alles wiederherstellen. (Mal 3:24; Lu 1:16; Ac 1:6)12Ich sage euch aber, dass Elia schon gekommen ist; und sie haben ihn nicht anerkannt, sondern mit ihm gemacht, was sie wollten. Ebenso wird auch der Sohn des Menschen von ihnen leiden müssen. (Mt 11:14; Mt 16:21)13Da verstanden die Jünger, dass er zu ihnen von Johannes dem Täufer redete.
Die Heilung eines mondsüchtigen Knaben
14Und als sie zur Volksmenge kamen, trat ein Mensch zu ihm, fiel vor ihm auf die Knie15und sprach: Herr, erbarme dich über meinen Sohn, denn er ist mondsüchtig und leidet schwer; er fällt nämlich oft ins Feuer und oft ins Wasser! (Mt 4:24)16Und ich habe ihn zu deinen Jüngern gebracht, aber sie konnten ihn nicht heilen. (Mt 10:1; Lu 10:17)17Da antwortete Jesus und sprach: O du ungläubiges und verkehrtes Geschlecht! Wie lange soll ich bei euch sein? Wie lange soll ich euch ertragen? Bringt ihn her zu mir! (Nu 14:11; Ps 95:10; Php 2:15; Heb 11:6)18Und Jesus befahl dem Dämon, und er fuhr von ihm aus, und der Knabe war gesund von jener Stunde an. (Lu 4:35; Ac 10:38)19Da traten die Jünger allein zu Jesus und sprachen: Warum konnten wir ihn nicht austreiben? (Mr 9:28)20Jesus aber sprach zu ihnen: Um eures Unglaubens willen! Denn wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wenn ihr Glauben hättet wie ein Senfkorn, so würdet ihr zu diesem Berg sprechen: Hebe dich weg von hier dorthin!, und er würde sich hinwegheben; und nichts würde euch unmöglich sein. (Mt 21:21; Mr 9:23; Lu 17:6; Joh 11:40; Heb 3:19; Jas 1:6; 1Jo 5:4)21Aber diese Art fährt nicht aus außer durch Gebet und Fasten.
Die zweite Ankündigung von Jesu Tod und Auferstehung
22Als sie nun ihren Weg durch Galiläa nahmen, sprach Jesus zu ihnen: Der Sohn des Menschen wird in die Hände der Menschen ausgeliefert werden, (Mt 20:18; Mt 26:2; Mt 26:45)23und sie werden ihn töten, und am dritten Tag wird er auferweckt werden. Und sie wurden sehr betrübt. (Mt 16:21; Joh 16:5)
Die Zahlung der Tempelsteuer
24Als sie aber nach Kapernaum kamen, traten die Einnehmer der Tempelsteuer zu Petrus und sprachen: Zahlt euer Meister nicht auch die zwei Drachmen? (Ex 30:12; 2Ch 24:6)25Er antwortete: Doch! Und als er ins Haus trat, kam ihm Jesus zuvor und sprach: Was meinst du, Simon, von wem nehmen die Könige der Erde den Zoll oder die Steuer, von ihren Söhnen oder von den Fremden? (Mt 22:17; Ro 13:7)26Petrus sagte zu ihm: Von den Fremden. Da sprach Jesus zu ihm: So sind also die Söhne frei!27Damit wir ihnen aber keinen Anstoß geben, geh hin an den See, wirf die Angel aus und nimm den ersten Fisch, den du herausziehst, und wenn du sein Maul öffnest, wirst du einen Stater finden; den nimm und gib ihn für mich und dich! (Mt 8:27; Ro 14:13; 1Co 8:13; 2Co 6:3; Col 1:16)
