1David again brought together all the able young men of Israel – thirty thousand.2He and all his men went to Baalah[1] in Judah to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the Name,[2] the name of the Lord Almighty, who is enthroned between the cherubim on the ark. (1Ch 13:6)3They set the ark of God on a new cart and brought it from the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill. Uzzah and Ahio, sons of Abinadab, were guiding the new cart4with the ark of God on it,[3] and Ahio was walking in front of it.5David and all Israel were celebrating with all their might before the Lord, with castanets,[4] harps, lyres, tambourines, rattles and cymbals. (1Ch 13:8)6When they came to the threshing-floor of Nakon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of the ark of God, because the oxen stumbled.7The Lord’s anger burned against Uzzah because of his irreverent act; therefore God struck him down, and he died there beside the ark of God.8Then David was angry because the Lord’s wrath had broken out against Uzzah, and to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah.[5]9David was afraid of the Lord that day and said, ‘How can the ark of the Lord ever come to me?’10He was not willing to take the ark of the Lord to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.11The ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite for three months, and the Lord blessed him and his entire household.12Now King David was told, ‘The Lord has blessed the household of Obed-Edom and everything he has, because of the ark of God.’ So David went to bring up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with rejoicing.13When those who were carrying the ark of the Lord had taken six steps, he sacrificed a bull and a fattened calf.14Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might,15while he and all Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouts and the sound of trumpets.16As the ark of the Lord was entering the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul watched from a window. And when she saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, she despised him in her heart.17They brought the ark of the Lord and set it in its place inside the tent that David had pitched for it, and David sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before the Lord.18After he had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord Almighty.19Then he gave a loaf of bread, a cake of dates and a cake of raisins to each person in the whole crowd of Israelites, both men and women. And all the people went to their homes.20When David returned home to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and said, ‘How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, going around half-naked in full view of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!’21David said to Michal, ‘It was before the Lord, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the Lord’s people Israel – I will celebrate before the Lord.22I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honour.’23And Michal daughter of Saul had no children to the day of her death.

1Und David versammelte nochmals alle auserwählten Männer in Israel, 30 000. (2Sa 5:1; 1Ki 8:1)2Und David machte sich auf mit dem ganzen Volk, das bei ihm war, von Baale-Juda, um von dort die Lade Gottes heraufzuholen, bei welcher der Name angerufen wird, der Name des HERRN der Heerscharen, der über den Cherubim thront. (Ex 25:22; Jos 15:9; Jos 15:60; Jos 18:14; 1Sa 4:4; 1Sa 7:1; 1Ch 13:5)3Und sie setzten die Lade Gottes auf einen neuen Wagen und holten sie aus dem Haus Abinadabs, das auf dem Hügel war. Ussa aber und Achio, die Söhne Abinadabs, lenkten den neuen Wagen. (Nu 4:15; Nu 4:20; 1Ch 13:9)7Da entbrannte der Zorn des HERRN gegen Ussa; und Gott schlug ihn dort wegen des Vergehens; so starb er dort bei der Lade Gottes. (1Ch 13:10; 1Ch 15:2; 1Ch 15:13; Pr 14:12; Ro 10:2)8Aber David entbrannte darüber, dass der HERR mit Ussa einen solchen Riss gemacht hatte; darum nennt man diesen Ort Perez-Ussa bis zu diesem Tag. (1Ch 13:11; Heb 12:28)9Und David fürchtete sich vor dem HERRN an jenem Tag und sprach: Wie soll die Lade des HERRN zu mir kommen? (1Sa 5:10; 1Sa 6:20; Ps 119:120; Lu 5:8; Ac 5:5; Ac 5:11)10Deswegen ließ David die Lade des HERRN nicht zu sich in die Stadt Davids hinaufbringen, sondern er ließ sie beiseiteführen in das Haus Obed-Edoms, des Gatiters[1]. (Jos 19:45; Jos 21:25; 1Ch 13:13; 1Ch 15:18; 1Ch 15:24; 1Ch 16:5; 1Ch 26:4)11Und die Lade des HERRN verblieb drei Monate lang im Haus Obed-Edoms, des Gatiters, und der HERR segnete Obed-Edom und sein ganzes Haus. (1Ch 13:14; Job 42:12; Pr 3:9; Mal 3:18)12Als nun dem König David berichtet wurde: »Der HERR hat das Haus Obed-Edoms und alles, was er hatte, gesegnet um der Lade Gottes willen!«, da ging David hin und holte die Lade Gottes mit Freuden aus dem Haus Obed-Edoms herauf in die Stadt Davids. (1Ki 8:3; 1Ch 15:1; 1Ch 26:4; 1Ch 26:8; Mt 10:40)13Und es geschah, wenn die Träger der Lade des HERRN sechs Schritte gegangen waren, opferte man einen Ochsen und ein fettes Schaf. (1Ki 8:5; 1Ch 15:26; 2Ch 5:6)14David aber tanzte mit aller Macht vor dem HERRN her, und David war mit einem leinenen Ephod umgürtet. (Ex 15:20; 1Sa 2:18; 1Ch 15:27; Ps 149:1)15So führten David und das ganze Haus Israel die Lade des HERRN mit Jubelgeschrei und mit dem Schall des Schopharhorns herauf. (Jos 6:4; Ps 47:2; Ps 47:6; Ps 150:3)16Als die Lade des HERRN gerade in die Stadt Davids kam, da schaute Michal, die Tochter Sauls, durchs Fenster und sah den König David hüpfen und vor dem HERRN tanzen, und sie verachtete ihn in ihrem Herzen. (1Ch 15:29; Ac 2:13)17Und sie brachten die Lade des HERRN hinein und stellten sie an ihren Ort, in das Zelt, das David für sie aufgeschlagen hatte. Und David opferte Brandopfer und Friedensopfer vor dem HERRN. (1Ki 8:5; 1Ch 15:1; 1Ch 16:1; Ps 132:8)18Und als David die Brandopfer und Friedensopfer vollendet hatte, segnete er das Volk im Namen des HERRN der Heerscharen. (Le 9:23; 1Ki 8:55; 1Ch 16:2; 2Ch 30:27)19Und er ließ dem ganzen Volk, der ganzen Menge Israels, Männern und Frauen, jedem einen Brotkuchen, einen Dattelkuchen und einen Rosinenkuchen austeilen. Dann ging das ganze Volk fort, jeder in sein Haus. (1Ch 16:3; 2Ch 30:24; 2Ch 35:7; Ne 8:10; Ac 20:35)20Als aber David umkehrte, um sein Haus zu segnen, da ging Michal, die Tochter Sauls, David entgegen und sprach: Welche Ehre hat sich heute der König Israels erworben, dass er sich heute vor den Augen der Mägde seiner Knechte entblößt hat, wie sich nur einer der leichtfertigen Leute entblößen kann! (2Sa 6:18; Ps 101:2; Ps 123:2; Ac 5:41)21David aber sprach zu Michal: Vor dem HERRN, der mich vor deinem Vater und vor seinem ganzen Haus erwählt und mir befohlen hat, Fürst über das Volk des HERRN, über Israel zu sein, vor dem HERRN will ich spielen. (De 12:12; 1Sa 13:14; 1Sa 16:12; Ps 68:4)22Und ich will noch geringer werden als diesmal und niedrig sein in meinen Augen; und bei den Mägden, von denen du gesprochen hast, will ich mir Ehre erwerben!
