The glory of Zion

1 ‘Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. 2 See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. 3 Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn. 4 ‘Lift up your eyes and look about you: all assemble and come to you; your sons come from afar, and your daughters are carried on the hip. 5 Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy; the wealth on the seas will be brought to you, to you the riches of the nations will come. 6 Herds of camels will cover your land, young camels of Midian and Ephah. And all from Sheba will come, bearing gold and incense and proclaiming the praise of the Lord. 7 All Kedar’s flocks will be gathered to you, the rams of Nebaioth will serve you; they will be accepted as offerings on my altar, and I will adorn my glorious temple. 8 ‘Who are these that fly along like clouds, like doves to their nests? 9 Surely the islands look to me; in the lead are the ships of Tarshish,^[1] bringing your children from afar, with their silver and gold, to the honour of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendour. 10 ‘Foreigners will rebuild your walls, and their kings will serve you. Though in anger I struck you, in favour I will show you compassion. 11 Your gates will always stand open, they will never be shut, day or night, so that people may bring you the wealth of the nations – their kings led in triumphal procession. 12 For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you will perish; it will be utterly ruined. 13 ‘The glory of Lebanon will come to you, the juniper, the fir and the cypress together, to adorn my sanctuary; and I will glorify the place for my feet. 14 The children of your oppressors will come bowing before you; all who despise you will bow down at your feet and will call you the City of the Lord, Zion of the Holy One of Israel. 15 ‘Although you have been forsaken and hated, with no-one travelling through, I will make you the everlasting pride and the joy of all generations. 16 You will drink the milk of nations and be nursed at royal breasts. Then you will know that I, the Lord, am your Saviour, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob. 17 Instead of bronze I will bring you gold, and silver in place of iron. Instead of wood I will bring you bronze, and iron in place of stones. I will make peace your governor and well-being your ruler. 18 No longer will violence be heard in your land, nor ruin or destruction within your borders, but you will call your walls Salvation and your gates Praise. 19 The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. 20 Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end. 21 Then all your people will be righteous and they will possess the land for ever. They are the shoot I have planted, the work of my hands, for the display of my splendour. 22 The least of you will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation. I am the Lord; in its time I will do this swiftly.’

آيندهٔ پرشكوه اورشليم

1 ای اورشليم برخيز و بگذار نور تو بدرخشد، زيرا جلال خداوند بر تو تابان است! 2 تمام قومهای جهان در تاريكی فرو خواهند رفت، اما نور جلال خداوند بر تو خواهد تابيد، 3 و پادشاهان و قومها به سوی تو خواهند آمد تا نور جلال خداوند را كه بر تو تابان است مشاهده كنند. 4 به اطراف خود نگاه كن و ببين چگونه قوم تو جمع شده به سوی تو میآيند. ايشان پسران و دخترانت را در آغوش گرفته، از راه دور به وطن باز میگردند. 5 تو اين را به چشم خواهی ديد و شاد خواهی شد و از شدت هيجان خواهی لرزيد. گنجهای جهان از راه دريا به سوی تو خواهد آمد و ثروت قومها نزد تو جمع خواهد شد. 6 كاروانهای شتر از«مديان» و«عيفه» و«شبع» خواهند آمد و با خود طلا و بخور خواهند آورد. مردم خداوند را ستايش خواهند كرد و كارهای او را بشارت خواهند داد. 7 تمام گلههای«قيدار» و«نبايوت» را نزد تو خواهند آورد تا بر قربانگاه خانهٔ خداوند قربانی كنند. در آن روز خداوند خانهٔ پرشكوه خود را زينت خواهد داد. 8 اينها كيستند كه مانند ابر به سوی سرزمين اسرائيل در حركتند؟ ايشان به كبوترهايی میمانند كه به لانههای خود باز میگردند. 9 اينها قوم خدا هستند كه سوار بر كشتی از سرزمينهای دور دست به وطن باز میگردند و با خود طلا و نقره میآورند، زيرا خدای مقدس اسرائيل كه در تمام دنيا مشهور است، قوم خود را در نظر همهٔ قومها عزت و احترام بخشيده است. 10 خداوند به اورشليم میگويد: «بيگانگان آمده، ديوارهای تو را بازسازی خواهند كرد و پادشاهان آنها تو را خدمت خواهند نمود، زيرا هر چند در خشم خود تو را مجازات كردم، اما به لطف خويش بر تو رحم خواهم كرد. 11 روز و شب، دروازههايت باز خواهد بود تا پادشاهان جهان ثروت كشورهای خود را نزد تو بياورند. 12 هر قومی كه نخواهد تو را خدمت كند، هلاک شده، از بين خواهد رفت. 13 «از جنگل لبنان چوبهای درختان صنوبر و كاج و چنار را برای تو ای اورشليم خواهند آورد تا تو را بازسازی كنند و خانهٔ مرا تزئين نمايند و شهر مرا باشكوه سازند. 14 پسران كسانی كه بر تو ظلم كردهاند خواهند آمد و در مقابل تو زانو زده، تعظيم خواهند كرد و كسانی كه تو را تحقير كردهاند بر پاهايت خواهند افتاد و تو را سجده خواهند كرد. آنها تو را شهر خداوند، خدای مقدس اسرائيل خواهند ناميد. 15 «تو زمانی متروک و مطرود بودی و كسی از تو عبور نمیكرد، اما اينک تو را برای هميشه باشكوه میسازم و تو تا ابد محل شادمانی خواهی بود. 16 قومها و پادشاهان جهان نيازهای تو را برآورده خواهند ساخت و مانند يک مادر از تو مراقبت خواهند نمود. آنگاه خواهی فهميد كه من خداوند، خدای قادر اسرائيل، حامی و نجات دهندهٔ تو هستم. 17 «من مفرغ تو را به طلا تبديل میكنم و آهن تو را به نقره، چوب تو را به مفرغ، و سنگ تو را به آهن. رهبران و حاكمانی به تو خواهم داد كه با صلح و عدالت بر تو حكومت كنند. 18 ظلم و خرابی را از تو دور خواهم كرد و مانند ديواری محافظ، تو را احاطه خواهم نمود و تو مرا سپاس خواهی گفت چرا كه تو را نجات دادهام. 19 «تو ديگر به روشنايی خورشيد و ماه احتياج نخواهی داشت، زيرا من كه خداوند هستم نور جاودانی تو و زيبايی تو خواهم بود. 20 آفتاب تو هرگز غروب نخواهد كرد و ماه تو زوال نخواهد پذيرفت، زيرا من نور جاودانی تو خواهم بود، و روزهای سوگواريت پايان خواهند يافت. 21 همهٔ افراد قوم تو مردمانی درستكار خواهند بود و سرزمين خود را تا ابد حفظ خواهند كرد. من ايشان را در آنجا خواهم كاشت تا عظمت و جلال خود را ظاهر كنم. 22 حتی كوچكترين و ضعيفترين خاندان تو بزرگ شده، به قومی نيرومند تبديل خواهد شد. هنگامی كه زمان معين فرا رسد من كه خداوند هستم اين را بیدرنگ انجام خواهم داد.»
