A psalm. A song. For the dedication of the temple. Of David.
1I will exalt you, Lord, for you lifted me out of the depths and did not let my enemies gloat over me.[1]2Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me.3You, Lord, brought me up from the realm of the dead; you spared me from going down to the pit.4Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people; praise his holy name.5For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favour lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.6When I felt secure, I said, ‘I shall never be shaken.’7Lord, when you favoured me, you made my royal mountain[2] stand firm; but when you hid your face, I was dismayed.8To you, Lord, I called; to the Lord I cried for mercy:9‘What is gained if I am silenced, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your faithfulness?10Hear, Lord, and be merciful to me; Lord, be my help.’11You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,12that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you for ever.
Psalm 30
King James Version
1A Psalm and Song at the dedication of the house of David. I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.2O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.3O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.4Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.5For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.6And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.7LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.8I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication.9What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?10Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper.11Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;12To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.
