Psalm 112

New International Version

1 Praise the Lord.[1] Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands. 2 Their children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. 3 Wealth and riches are in their houses, and their righteousness endures for ever. 4 Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous. 5 Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice. 6 Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered for ever. 7 They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord. 8 Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes. 9 They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor, their righteousness endures for ever; their horn[2] will be lifted high in honour. 10 The wicked will see and be vexed, they will gnash their teeth and waste away; the longings of the wicked will come to nothing.

1 [1] Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments! (Ps 1:2; Ps 104:35; Ps 111:10; Ps 115:13; Ps 128:1; Ps 128:4) 2 His offspring will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. (Ps 25:13; Ps 37:26; Ps 102:28; Pr 11:21; Pr 20:7) 3 Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. (Ps 111:3; Pr 3:16) 4 Light dawns in the darkness for the upright; he is gracious, merciful, and righteous. (Job 11:17; Ps 97:11; Mt 1:19) 5 It is well with the man who deals generously and lends; who conducts his affairs with justice. (Ps 37:26) 6 For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered forever. (Ps 55:22; Pr 10:7) 7 He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord. (Ps 11:1; Ps 57:7; Ps 64:10; Pr 1:33) 8 His heart is steady;[2] he will not be afraid, until he looks in triumph on his adversaries. 9 He has distributed freely; he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn is exalted in honor. (Ps 75:10; 2Co 9:9) 10 The wicked man sees it and is angry; he gnashes his teeth and melts away; the desire of the wicked will perish! (Job 8:13; Job 16:9; Ps 58:8; Mt 8:12; Lu 13:28)
