1In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways,2but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.3The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.4So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.
The Son superior to angels
5For to which of the angels did God ever say, ‘You are my Son; today I have become your Father’? Or again, ‘I will be his Father, and he will be my Son’[1]? (2Sa 7:14; 1Ch 17:13; Ps 2:7)6And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, ‘Let all God’s angels worship him.’[2] (De 32:43)7In speaking of the angels he says, ‘He makes his angels spirits, and his servants flames of fire.’ (Ps 104:4)8But about the Son he says, ‘Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a sceptre of justice will be the sceptre of your kingdom.9You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.’ (Ps 45:6; Ps 45:7)10He also says, ‘In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.11They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment.12You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will never end.’ (Ps 102:25)13To which of the angels did God ever say, ‘Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet’? (Ps 110:1)14Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

English Standard Version
The Supremacy of God’s Son
1Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, (Nu 12:6; Nu 12:8; Joe 2:28)2but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. (Ps 2:8; Mt 14:33; Mt 21:38; Mt 28:18; Joh 1:3; Ac 2:17; Heb 2:3; Heb 3:3; Heb 9:26; Heb 11:3; 1Pe 1:20)3He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, (Mr 16:19; Lu 22:69; 2Co 4:4; Heb 9:14)4having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs. (Eph 1:21; Php 2:9)5For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you”? Or again, “I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son”? (2Sa 7:14; Ps 2:7; Ps 89:26; Ac 13:33; Heb 5:5)6And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.” (De 32:43; Ps 97:7; Ro 8:29)7Of the angels he says, “He makes his angels winds, and his ministers a flame of fire.” (Ps 104:4)8But of the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom. (Ps 45:6)9You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions.” (Isa 61:1; Isa 61:3)10And, “You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands; (Ps 102:25)11they will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment,12like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed.[1] But you are the same, and your years will have no end.” (Heb 13:8)13And to which of the angels has he ever said, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”? (Ps 110:1; Heb 10:13)14Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation? (Ge 19:16; Ge 28:12; Ge 32:1; Jud 6:11; Jud 13:3; Ps 34:7; Ps 91:11; Ps 103:20; Da 3:28; Da 6:22; Da 10:11; Mt 18:10; Mt 25:34)
