1He said to me, ‘Son of man,[1] stand up on your feet and I will speak to you.’2As he spoke, the Spirit came into me and raised me to my feet, and I heard him speaking to me.3He said: ‘Son of man, I am sending you to the Israelites, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against me; they and their ancestors have been in revolt against me to this very day.4The people to whom I am sending you are obstinate and stubborn. Say to them, “This is what the Sovereign Lord says.”5And whether they listen or fail to listen – for they are a rebellious people – they will know that a prophet has been among them.6And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns are all around you and you live among scorpions. Do not be afraid of what they say or be terrified by them, though they are a rebellious people.7You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen, for they are rebellious.8But you, son of man, listen to what I say to you. Do not rebel like that rebellious people; open your mouth and eat what I give you.’9Then I looked, and I saw a hand stretched out to me. In it was a scroll,10which he unrolled before me. On both sides of it were written words of lament and mourning and woe.

Ezekiel’s Call
1And he said to me, “Son of man,[1] stand on your feet, and I will speak with you.” (Eze 3:1; Eze 3:3; Eze 3:17; Eze 3:25; Eze 4:1; Eze 4:16; Eze 5:1; Da 10:11)2And as he spoke to me, the Spirit entered into me and set me on my feet, and I heard him speaking to me. (Eze 3:24; Da 8:18)3And he said to me, “Son of man, I send you to the people of Israel, to nations of rebels, who have rebelled against me. They and their fathers have transgressed against me to this very day. (Eze 2:5; Eze 2:8; Eze 3:26; Eze 20:16; Eze 20:18; Eze 20:21; Eze 24:3; Eze 44:6)4The descendants also are impudent and stubborn: I send you to them, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God.’ (Eze 3:7)5And whether they hear or refuse to hear (for they are a rebellious house) they will know that a prophet has been among them. (Eze 2:3; Eze 3:11; Eze 3:27; Eze 17:12; Eze 33:33)6And you, son of man, be not afraid of them, nor be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you and you sit on scorpions.[2] Be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house. (De 8:15; 2Sa 23:6; Jer 1:8; Eze 3:9; Eze 28:24; Mic 7:4)7And you shall speak my words to them, whether they hear or refuse to hear, for they are a rebellious house. (Eze 2:5)8“But you, son of man, hear what I say to you. Be not rebellious like that rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I give you.” (Isa 50:5; Eze 3:1; Eze 3:3; Re 10:9)9And when I looked, behold, a hand was stretched out to me, and behold, a scroll of a book was in it. (Jer 36:2; Eze 8:3; Da 10:10; Re 10:2)10And he spread it before me. And it had writing on the front and on the back, and there were written on it words of lamentation and mourning and woe. (Re 5:1)
