الكتاب المقدس

1 الصِّيتُ مُفَضَّلٌ عَلَى الْغِنَى الطَّائِلِ، وَنِعْمَةُ الْمَعْرُوفِ خَيْرٌ مِنَ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ. 

2 الْغَنِيُّ وَالْفَقِيرُ مُتَمَاثِلانِ إِذْ إِنَّ الرَّبَّ هُوَ صَانِعُهُمَا. 

3 يَرَى العَاقِلُ الشَّرَّ فَيَتَوَارَى، أَمَّا الْجَاهِلُ فَيُقْبِلُ إِلَيْهِ وَيُعَاقَبُ. 

4 ثَوَابُ التَّوَاضُعِ وَتَقْوَى الرَّبِّ هُوَ الْغِنَى وَالْكَرَامَةُ وَالْحَيَاةُ. 

5 فِي طَرِيقِ الْمُلْتَوِي شَوْكٌ وَأَشْرَاكٌ، وَمَنْ يَصُونُ نَفْسَهُ يَتَفَادَاهَا. 

6 دَرِّبِ الْوَلَدَ بِمُقْتَضَى مَوَاهِبِهِ وَطَبِيعَتِهِ، فَمَتَى شَاخَ لَا يَمِيلُ عَنْهَا. 

7 الْغَنِيُّ يَسُودُ عَلَى الْفَقِيرِ، وَالْمُقْتَرِضُ مُسْتَعْبَدٌ لِلْمُقْرِضِ. 

8 مَنْ زَرَعَ ظُلْماً يَحْصُدُ بَلِيَّةً، وَيَفْقِدُ مَالَهُ مِنْ سُلْطَانٍ. 

9 الْكَرِيمُ يَتَمَتَّعُ بِالْبَرَكَةِ لأَنَّهُ يَقْتَسِمُ خُبْزَهُ مَعَ الْفَقِيرِ. 

10 اطْرُدِ الْمُسْتَهْزِئَ، فَيَخْرُجَ الْخِصَامُ، وَيَتَوَقَّفَ الشِّجَارُ وَالإِسَاءَةُ. 

11 مَنْ يُحِبُّ طَهَارَةَ الْقَلْبِ، وَيَتَحَلَّى بِجَمَالِ الْحَدِيثِ، يَضْحَى الْمَلِكُ صَدِيقاً لَهُ. 

12 عَيْنَا الرَّبِّ تَرْعَيَانِ الْمَعْرِفَةَ، وَهُوَ يُخَرِّبُ كَلامَ الْغَادِرِينَ. 

13 قَالَ الْكَسُولُ: فِي الْخَارِجِ أَسَدٌ يَفْتَرِسُنِي إِنْ خَرَجْتُ إِلَى الشَّوَارِعِ. 

14 فَمُ الْعَاهِرَةِ حُفْرَةٌ عَمِيقَةٌ فَمَنْ سَخَطَ الرَّبُّ عَلَيْهِ يَهْوِي فِيهَا. 

15 الْحَمَاقَةُ مُتَأَصِّلَةٌ فِي قَلْبِ الْوَلَدِ، وَعَصَا التَّأْدِيبِ تَطْرُدُهَا مِنْهُ. 

16 مَنْ يَظْلِمُ الْفَقِيرَ لِيَثْرَى ظُلْماً، وَمَنْ يُهْدِي الْغَنِيَّ (عَلَى حِسَابِ الْفَقِيرِ) يَنْتَهِي بِهِ الأَمْرُ إِلَى الْعَوَزِ. 

كلام الحكماء القول الأول

17 أَرْهِفْ أُذُنَكَ وَاسْتَمِعْ لِكَلامِ الْحُكَمَاءِ، وَلْيَعْزِمْ قَلْبُكَ عَلَى إِدْرَاكِ مَعْرِفَتِي، 

18 فَتَطِيبَ إِنْ حَفِظْتَهَا فِي قَرَارَةِ نَفْسِكَ، وَثَبَّتَّهَا دَائِماً عَلَى شَفَتَيْكَ. 

19 إِيَّاهَا قَدْ لَقَّنْتُكَ أَنْتَ الْيَوْمَ لِيَكُونَ اتِّكَالُكَ عَلَى الرَّبِّ. 

20 أَلَمْ أَكْتُبْ لَكَ ثَلاثِينَ قَوْلاً مِنْ مَأْثُورِ الْمَشُورَةِ وَالْحِكَمِ؟ 

21 لأُعَلِّمَكَ قَوْلَ الْحَقِّ الْيَقِينِ لِتَرُدَّ جَوَابَ صِدْقٍ لِلَّذِينَ أَرْسَلُوكَ. 

القول الثاني

22 لَا تَسْلُبِ الْفَقِيرَ لأَنَّهُ فَقِيرٌ، وَلا تَسْحَقِ الْبَائِسَ الْمَاثِلَ عِنْدَ الْبَابِ، 

23 لأَنَّ الرَّبَّ يُدَافِعُ عَنْ دَعْوَاهُمْ، وَيُهْلِكُ نَاهِبِيهِمْ. 

القول الثالث

24 لَا تُصَادِقْ رَجُلاً غَضُوباً، وَلا تُرَافِقْ رَجُلاً سَاخِطاً، 

25 لِئَلّا تَأْلَفَ تَصَرُّفَاتِهِ، وَتُوْقِعَ نَفْسَكَ فِي الشَّرَكِ. 

القول الرابع

26 لَا تَكُنْ مِنَ الَّذِينَ يَضْمَنُونَ غَيْرَهُمْ بِصَفْقِ الْكَفِّ، وَلا مِنْ كَافِلِي الدُّيُونِ، 

27 إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ عِنْدَكَ مَا يَفِي الدَّيْنَ، فَلِمَاذَا يُصَادِرُونَ فِرَاشَكَ الَّذِي تَنَامُ عَلَيْهِ؟ 

28 لَا تَنْقُلْ مَعَالِمَ التُّخْمِ الْقَدِيمِ الَّذِي أَقَامَهُ آبَاؤُكَ.

29 أَرَأَيْتَ الإِنْسَانَ الْمُجِدَّ فِي عَمَلِهِ؟ إِنَّهُ يَمْثُلُ أَمَامَ الْمُلُوكِ لَا أَمَامَ الرَّعَاعِ!

English Standard Version

1 A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold. (جا 7:1) 

2 The rich and the poor meet together; the Lord is the Maker of them all. (أي 31:15; أم 14:31; أم 29:13) 

3 The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it. (أم 14:16; أم 27:12) 

4 The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life. (أم 21:20) 

5 Thorns and snares are in the way of the crooked; whoever guards his soul will keep far from them. (أم 15:19; أم 21:23; 1يو 5:18) 

6 Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. (أف 6:4; 2تي 3:15) 

7 The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender. (يع 2:6) 

8 Whoever sows injustice will reap calamity, and the rod of his fury will fail. (أي 4:8; إش 14:6; إش 30:31; هو 10:13) 

9 Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor. (أم 19:17; لو 14:13; 2كو 9:6) 

10 Drive out a scoffer, and strife will go out, and quarreling and abuse will cease. (تك 21:9; أم 26:20) 

11 He who loves purity of heart, and whose speech is gracious, will have the king as his friend. (مز 101:6; أم 14:35; أم 16:13; جا 10:12) 

12 The eyes of the Lord keep watch over knowledge, but he overthrows the words of the traitor. (أم 11:3; أم 21:12) 

13 The sluggard says, “There is a lion outside! I shall be killed in the streets!” (أم 26:13) 

14 The mouth of forbidden women is a deep pit; he with whom the Lord is angry will fall into it. (أم 2:16; أم 23:27; جا 7:26) 

15 Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives it far from him. (أم 13:24) 

16 Whoever oppresses the poor to increase his own wealth, or gives to the rich, will only come to poverty. (أم 28:22) 

Words of the Wise

17 Incline your ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my knowledge, (أم 1:6; أم 5:1; أم 23:12; أم 24:23) 

18 for it will be pleasant if you keep them within you, if all of them are ready on your lips. 

19 That your trust may be in the Lord, I have made them known to you today, even to you. 

20 Have I not written for you thirty sayings of counsel and knowledge, (أم 8:6) 

21 to make you know what is right and true, that you may give a true answer to those who sent you? (لو 1:3) 

22 Do not rob the poor, because he is poor, or crush the afflicted at the gate, (خر 23:6; أي 5:4; أي 31:21; زك 7:10; ملا 3:5) 

23 for the Lord will plead their cause and rob of life those who rob them. (1صم 25:39; مز 12:5; مز 35:10; مز 68:5; مز 140:12; أم 23:11; إر 51:36) 

24 Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man, 

25 lest you learn his ways and entangle yourself in a snare. 

26 Be not one of those who give pledges, who put up security for debts. (أي 17:3) 

27 If you have nothing with which to pay, why should your bed be taken from under you? (خر 22:26; أم 20:16) 

28 Do not move the ancient landmark that your fathers have set. (تث 19:14; تث 27:17; أي 24:2; أم 23:10; هو 5:10) 

29 Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men. (تك 41:46; 1مل 10:8)
