Die Heilung eines Blindgeborenen

1 Und Jesus ging vorüber und sah einen Menschen, der blind geboren war. 2 Und seine Jünger fragten ihn und sprachen: Rabbi, wer hat gesündigt, dieser oder seine Eltern, dass er blind geboren ist? (Lk 13,2) 3 Jesus antwortete: Es hat weder dieser gesündigt noch seine Eltern, sondern es sollen die Werke Gottes offenbar werden an ihm. (Joh 11,4) 4 Wir müssen die Werke dessen wirken, der mich gesandt hat, solange es Tag ist;^[1] es kommt die Nacht, da niemand wirken kann. (Jer 13,16; Joh 5,17) 5 Solange ich in der Welt bin, bin ich das Licht der Welt. (Joh 8,12; Joh 12,35) 6 Als er das gesagt hatte, spuckte er auf die Erde, machte daraus einen Brei und strich den Brei auf die Augen des Blinden (Mk 8,23) 7 und sprach zu ihm: Geh zu dem Teich Siloah – das heißt übersetzt: gesandt – und wasche dich! Da ging er hin und wusch sich und kam sehend wieder. 8 Die Nachbarn nun und die, die ihn zuvor als Bettler gesehen hatten, sprachen: Ist das nicht der Mann, der dasaß und bettelte? 9 Einige sprachen: Er ist’s; andere: Nein, aber er ist ihm ähnlich. Er selbst aber sprach: Ich bin’s. 10 Da fragten sie ihn: Wie sind deine Augen aufgetan worden? 11 Er antwortete: Der Mensch, der Jesus heißt, machte einen Brei und strich ihn auf meine Augen und sprach: Geh zum Teich Siloah und wasche dich! Ich ging hin und wusch mich und wurde sehend. 12 Da fragten sie ihn: Wo ist er? Er sprach: Ich weiß es nicht. 13 Da führten sie den, der zuvor blind gewesen war, zu den Pharisäern. 14 Es war aber Sabbat an dem Tag, als Jesus den Brei machte und seine Augen öffnete. 15 Da fragten ihn auch die Pharisäer, wie er sehend geworden wäre. Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Einen Brei legte er mir auf die Augen, und ich wusch mich und bin nun sehend. 16 Da sprachen einige der Pharisäer: Dieser Mensch ist nicht von Gott, weil er den Sabbat nicht hält. Andere aber sprachen: Wie kann ein sündiger Mensch solche Zeichen tun? Und es entstand Zwietracht unter ihnen. 17 Da sprachen sie wieder zu dem Blinden: Was sagst du von ihm, dass er deine Augen aufgetan hat? Er aber sprach: Er ist ein Prophet. (Joh 4,19) 18 Nun glaubten die Juden nicht von ihm, dass er blind gewesen und sehend geworden war, bis sie die Eltern dessen riefen, der sehend geworden war, 19 und sie fragten sie und sprachen: Ist das euer Sohn, von dem ihr sagt, er sei blind geboren? Wieso ist er nun sehend? 20 Da antworteten seine Eltern und sprachen: Wir wissen, dass dieser unser Sohn ist und dass er blind geboren wurde. 21 Aber wieso er nun sehend ist, wissen wir nicht, und wer ihm die Augen aufgetan hat, wissen wir auch nicht. Fragt ihn, er ist alt genug; lasst ihn für sich selbst reden. 22 Das sagten seine Eltern, denn sie fürchteten sich vor den Juden. Denn die Juden hatten sich schon geeinigt: Wenn jemand ihn als den Christus bekennt, der soll aus der Synagoge ausgestoßen werden. (Joh 7,13; Joh 12,42; Joh 16,2) 23 Darum sprachen seine Eltern: Er ist alt genug, fragt ihn selbst. 24 Da riefen sie noch einmal den Menschen, der blind gewesen war, und sprachen zu ihm: Gib Gott die Ehre! Wir wissen, dass dieser Mensch ein Sünder ist. 25 Er antwortete: Ist er ein Sünder? Das weiß ich nicht; eins aber weiß ich: dass ich blind war und bin nun sehend. 26 Da fragten sie ihn: Was hat er mit dir getan? Wie hat er deine Augen aufgetan? 27 Er antwortete ihnen: Ich habe es euch schon gesagt, und ihr habt’s nicht gehört! Was wollt ihr’s abermals hören? Wollt ihr auch seine Jünger werden? 28 Da schmähten sie ihn und sprachen: Du bist sein Jünger; wir aber sind Moses Jünger. 29 Wir wissen, dass Gott mit Mose geredet hat; woher aber dieser ist, wissen wir nicht. (2Mo 3,4; 2Mo 34,34) 30 Der Mensch antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Das ist verwunderlich, dass ihr nicht wisst, woher er ist; und er hat meine Augen aufgetan. 31 Wir wissen, dass Gott die Sünder nicht erhört; sondern den, der gottesfürchtig ist und seinen Willen tut, den erhört er. (Ps 66,18; Spr 15,29; Jes 1,15) 32 Von Anbeginn der Welt an hat man nicht gehört, dass jemand einem Blindgeborenen die Augen aufgetan habe. 33 Wäre dieser nicht von Gott, er könnte nichts tun. 34 Sie antworteten und sprachen zu ihm: Du bist ganz in Sünden geboren und lehrst uns? Und sie stießen ihn hinaus. 35 Jesus hörte, dass sie ihn ausgestoßen hatten. Und als er ihn fand, fragte er: Glaubst du an den Menschensohn? 36 Er antwortete und sprach: Herr, wer ist’s, auf dass ich an ihn glaube? 37 Jesus sprach zu ihm: Du hast ihn ja gesehen, und der mit dir redet, der ist’s. (Joh 4,26) 38 Er aber sprach: Herr, ich glaube. Und er betete ihn an. 39 Und Jesus sprach: Ich bin zum Gericht in diese Welt gekommen, auf dass die da nicht sehen, sehend werden, und die da sehen, blind werden. (Mt 13,11) 40 Das hörten einige der Pharisäer, die bei ihm waren, und sprachen zu ihm: Sind wir denn auch blind? 41 Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Wärt ihr blind, so hättet ihr keine Sünde; weil ihr aber sagt: Wir sind sehend, bleibt eure Sünde. (Joh 15,22)

1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. 2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? 3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. 4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. 6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, 7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing. 8 The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged? 9 Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he. 10 Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened? 11 He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight. 12 Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not. 13 They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind. 14 And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes. 15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see. 16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them. 17 They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet. 18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight. 19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see? 20 His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind: 21 But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself. 22 These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue. 23 Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him. 24 Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner. 25 He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see. 26 Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes? 27 He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples? 28 Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples. 29 We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is. 30 The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes. 31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth. 32 Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind. 33 If this man were not of God, he could do nothing. 34 They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out. 35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? 36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? 37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. 38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him. 39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind. 40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also? 41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
