Petrus und Johannes vor dem Hohen Rat

1 Während sie zum Volk redeten, traten zu ihnen die Priester und der Hauptmann der Tempelwache und die Sadduzäer, (Lk 22,4; Lk 22,52) 2 die verdross, dass sie das Volk lehrten und verkündigten in Jesus die Auferstehung von den Toten. (Apg 23,8) 3 Und sie legten Hand an sie und setzten sie gefangen bis zum Morgen; denn es war schon Abend. 4 Aber viele von denen, die das Wort gehört hatten, wurden gläubig; und die Zahl der Männer stieg auf etwa fünftausend. (Apg 2,47) 5 Als nun der Morgen kam, versammelten sich ihre Oberen und Ältesten und Schriftgelehrten in Jerusalem, 6 auch Hannas, der Hohepriester, und Kaiphas und Johannes und Alexander und alle, die vom Geschlecht der Hohenpriester waren; (Lk 3,1) 7 und sie stellten sie in die Mitte und fragten sie: Aus welcher Kraft oder in welchem Namen habt ihr das getan? (Lk 20,1) 8 Petrus, voll des Heiligen Geistes, sprach zu ihnen: Ihr Oberen des Volkes und ihr Ältesten! (Mt 10,20; Apg 2,4) 9 Wenn wir heute wegen der Wohltat an dem kranken Menschen verhört werden, wodurch er gesund geworden ist, 10 so sei euch allen und dem ganzen Volk Israel kundgetan: Im Namen Jesu Christi von Nazareth^[1], den ihr gekreuzigt habt, den Gott von den Toten auferweckt hat; durch ihn steht dieser hier gesund vor euch. (Apg 3,6; Apg 3,15) 11 Das ist der Stein, von euch Bauleuten verworfen, der zum Eckstein geworden ist. (Ps 118,22; Lk 20,17; 1Petr 2,4) 12 Und in keinem andern ist das Heil, auch ist kein andrer Name unter dem Himmel den Menschen gegeben, durch den wir sollen selig werden. 13 Sie sahen aber den Freimut des Petrus und Johannes und wunderten sich; denn sie merkten, dass sie ungelehrte und einfache Leute waren, und wussten auch von ihnen, dass sie mit Jesus gewesen waren. 14 Sie sahen aber den Menschen, der gesund geworden war, bei ihnen stehen und wussten nichts dagegen zu sagen. (Apg 3,8) 15 Da hießen sie sie hinausgehen aus dem Hohen Rat und berieten miteinander 16 und sprachen: Was wollen wir mit diesen Menschen tun? Denn dass ein offenkundiges Zeichen durch sie geschehen ist, ist allen bekannt, die in Jerusalem wohnen, und wir können’s nicht leugnen. (Joh 11,47) 17 Aber damit es nicht weiter einreiße unter dem Volk, wollen wir ihnen drohen, dass sie hinfort zu keinem Menschen in diesem Namen reden. 18 Und sie riefen sie und geboten ihnen, keinesfalls zu verkünden oder zu lehren in dem Namen Jesu. (Apg 5,28) 19 Petrus aber und Johannes antworteten und sprachen zu ihnen: Urteilt selbst, ob es vor Gott recht ist, dass wir euch mehr gehorchen als Gott. 20 Wir können’s ja nicht lassen, von dem zu reden, was wir gesehen und gehört haben. 21 Da drohten sie ihnen und ließen sie gehen um des Volkes willen, weil sie nicht wussten, wie man sie hätte bestrafen können; denn alle lobten Gott für das, was geschehen war. 22 Denn der Mensch war über vierzig Jahre alt, an dem dieses Zeichen der Heilung geschehen war.

Das Gebet der Gemeinde

23 Und als man sie hatte gehen lassen, kamen sie zu den Ihren und berichteten, was die Hohenpriester und Ältesten zu ihnen gesagt hatten. 24 Als sie das hörten, erhoben sie ihre Stimme einmütig zu Gott und sprachen: Herr, du hast Himmel und Erde und das Meer und alles, was darin ist, gemacht, (2Mo 20,11; Ps 146,6; Apg 14,15) 25 du hast durch den Mund unseres Vaters David, deines Knechtes, durch den Heiligen Geist gesagt: »Warum toben die Heiden, und die Völker nehmen sich vor, was vergeblich ist? 26 Die Könige der Erde treten zusammen, und die Fürsten versammeln sich wider den Herrn und seinen Christus.« 27 Wahrhaftig, sie haben sich versammelt in dieser Stadt gegen deinen heiligen Knecht Jesus, den du gesalbt hast, Herodes und Pontius Pilatus mit den Heiden und den Stämmen Israels, (Lk 23,12) 28 zu tun, was deine Hand und dein Ratschluss zuvor bestimmt haben, dass es geschehen sollte. (Apg 2,23) 29 Und nun, Herr, sieh an ihr Drohen und gib deinen Knechten, mit allem Freimut zu reden dein Wort. (Eph 6,19) 30 Strecke deine Hand aus zur Heilung und lass Zeichen und Wunder geschehen durch den Namen deines heiligen Knechtes Jesus. (Apg 5,12) 31 Und als sie gebetet hatten, erbebte die Stätte, wo sie versammelt waren; und sie wurden alle vom Heiligen Geist erfüllt und redeten das Wort Gottes mit Freimut.

Die Gütergemeinschaft der ersten Christen

32 Die Menge der Gläubigen aber war ein Herz und eine Seele; auch nicht einer sagte von seinen Gütern, dass sie sein wären, sondern es war ihnen alles gemeinsam. (Apg 2,44) 33 Und mit großer Kraft bezeugten die Apostel die Auferstehung des Herrn Jesus, und große Gnade war bei ihnen allen. (Apg 2,22) 34 Es war auch keiner unter ihnen, der Mangel hatte; denn wer von ihnen Land oder Häuser hatte, verkaufte sie und brachte das Geld für das Verkaufte (Apg 2,45) 35 und legte es den Aposteln zu Füßen; und man gab einem jeden, was er nötig hatte. 36 Josef aber, der von den Aposteln Barnabas genannt wurde – das heißt übersetzt: Sohn des Trostes –, ein Levit, aus Zypern gebürtig, (Apg 9,27; Apg 11,22; Apg 12,25; Apg 15,2; 1Kor 9,6; Gal 2,1; Kol 4,10)

1 And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them, 2 Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead. 3 And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide. 4 Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand. 5 And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes, 6 And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem. 7 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this? 8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, 9 If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; 10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. 13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. 14 And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it. 15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves, 16 Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it. 17 But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name. 18 And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. 20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard. 21 So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done. 22 For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed. 23 And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them. 24 And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is: 25 Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? 26 The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. 27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, 28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done. 29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, 30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. 31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. 32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. 33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. 34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, 35 And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need. 36 And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus, 37 Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet.
