1Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.2For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.3But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.4He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.5I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.6Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?7And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped?8For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?9So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.10There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.11Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me.12Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.13Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.14For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.15What is it then? Let all things be done unto edifying.27If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.28But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.29Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.30If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.31For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.32And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.33For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.34Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.35And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.36What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?37If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.38But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.39Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.40Let all things be done decently and in order.

Die Geisteswirkungen sollen zur Erbauung der Gemeinde dienen
1Strebt nach der Liebe, doch bemüht euch auch eifrig um die Geisteswirkungen; am meisten aber, dass ihr weissagt! (1Co 12:31; 1Co 13:4; 1Co 14:12; Eph 5:2; 1Pe 1:22)2Denn wer in Sprachen redet, der redet nicht für Menschen, sondern für Gott; denn niemand versteht es, sondern er redet Geheimnisse im Geist. (Ac 10:46; 1Co 14:14)3Wer aber weissagt, der redet für Menschen zur Erbauung, zur Ermahnung und zum Trost. (Ac 15:32; Ro 12:6)4Wer in einer Sprache redet, erbaut sich selbst; wer aber weissagt, erbaut die Gemeinde. (Eph 2:20)5Ich wünschte, dass ihr alle in Sprachen reden würdet, noch viel mehr aber, dass ihr weissagen würdet. Denn wer weissagt, ist größer, als wer in Sprachen redet; es sei denn, dass er es auslegt, damit die Gemeinde Erbauung empfängt. (1Co 12:8)7Ist es doch ebenso mit den leblosen Instrumenten, die einen Laut von sich geben, sei es eine Flöte oder eine Harfe; wenn sie nicht bestimmte Töne geben, wie kann man erkennen, was auf der Flöte oder auf der Harfe gespielt wird? (Mt 11:17; Lu 7:32)8Ebenso auch, wenn die Posaune einen undeutlichen Ton gibt, wer wird sich zum Kampf rüsten? (Nu 10:9; Jos 6:4; Jos 6:20; Am 3:6)9So auch ihr, wenn ihr durch die Sprache nicht eine verständliche Rede gebt, wie kann man verstehen, was geredet wird? Denn ihr werdet in den Wind reden. (1Co 9:26; 1Co 14:19)10Es gibt wohl mancherlei Arten von Stimmen in der Welt, und keine von ihnen ist ohne Laut. (Ge 11:7)11Wenn ich nun den Sinn des Lautes nicht kenne, so werde ich dem Redenden ein Fremder sein und der Redende für mich ein Fremder.12Also auch ihr, da ihr eifrig nach Geisteswirkungen trachtet, strebt danach, dass ihr zur Erbauung der Gemeinde Überfluss habt! (1Co 12:7; 1Co 14:26; Eph 4:11)13Darum: Wer in einer Sprache redet, der bete, dass er es auch auslegen kann. (1Co 12:10)14Denn wenn ich in einer Sprache bete, so betet zwar mein Geist, aber mein Verstand ist ohne Frucht. (Mt 13:22; 1Co 14:2; Jud 1:12)15Wie soll es nun sein? Ich will mit dem Geist beten, ich will aber auch mit dem Verstand beten; ich will mit dem Geist lobsingen, ich will aber auch mit dem Verstand lobsingen. (Joh 4:24; Eph 5:19; Eph 6:18; Col 3:16)16Sonst, wenn du mit dem Geist den Lobpreis sprichst, wie soll der, welcher die Stelle des Unkundigen einnimmt, das Amen sprechen zu deiner Danksagung, da er nicht weiß, was du sagst? (1Ch 16:36; Ne 8:6)17Du magst wohl schön danksagen, aber der andere wird nicht erbaut. (1Co 14:4; 1Co 14:26)18Ich danke meinem Gott, dass ich mehr in Sprachen rede als ihr alle. (1Co 1:4)19Aber in der Gemeinde will ich lieber fünf Worte mit meinem Verstand reden, damit ich auch andere unterweise, als zehntausend Worte in einer Sprache. (1Co 14:4; 1Co 14:22)20Ihr Brüder, werdet nicht Kinder im Verständnis, sondern in der Bosheit seid Unmündige, im Verständnis aber werdet erwachsen. (1Co 13:11; Eph 4:14; Heb 5:12; 1Pe 2:1)21Im Gesetz steht geschrieben: »Ich will mit fremden Sprachen und mit fremden Lippen zu diesem Volk reden, aber auch so werden sie nicht auf mich hören, spricht der Herr«.[1] (Isa 28:11)22Darum dienen die Sprachen als ein Zeichen, und zwar nicht für die Gläubigen, sondern für die Ungläubigen; die Weissagung aber ist nicht für die Ungläubigen, sondern für die Gläubigen. (Mr 16:17; Ac 2:6)23Wenn nun die ganze Gemeinde am selben Ort zusammenkäme, und alle würden in Sprachen reden, und es kämen Unkundige oder Ungläubige herein, würden sie nicht sagen, dass ihr von Sinnen seid? (Ac 2:13)24Wenn aber alle weissagten, und es käme ein Ungläubiger oder Unkundiger herein, so würde er von allen überführt, von allen erforscht; (1Co 2:15)25und so würde das Verborgene seines Herzens offenbar, und so würde er auf sein Angesicht fallen und Gott anbeten und bekennen, dass Gott wahrhaftig in euch ist. (Isa 45:14; Isa 61:9; Zec 8:23; Heb 4:12)
Geistliche Ordnung in den Gemeindezusammenkünften
26Wie ist es nun, ihr Brüder? Wenn ihr zusammenkommt, so hat jeder von euch etwas: einen Psalm, eine Lehre, eine Sprachenrede, eine Offenbarung, eine Auslegung; alles lasst zur Erbauung geschehen! (Ro 14:19; 1Co 12:8; 1Co 14:6; 1Co 14:12; 1Co 14:40)27Wenn jemand in einer Sprache reden will, so sollen es zwei, höchstens drei sein, und der Reihe nach, und einer soll es auslegen.28Ist aber kein Ausleger da, so schweige er in der Gemeinde; er mag aber für sich selbst und für Gott reden.29Propheten aber sollen zwei oder drei reden, und die anderen sollen es beurteilen. (1Th 5:19)30Wenn aber einem anderen, der dasitzt, eine Offenbarung zuteilwird, so soll der erste schweigen. (Job 32:11; Job 32:16)31Denn ihr könnt alle einer nach dem anderen weissagen, damit alle lernen und alle ermahnt werden. (Pr 1:5; Pr 9:9; Lu 13:18; Ac 11:23; Ac 15:32; 1Co 14:3)32Und die Geister der Propheten sind den Propheten untertan.33Denn Gott ist nicht ein Gott der Unordnung, sondern des Friedens, wie in allen Gemeinden der Heiligen. (Ro 15:33; 1Co 14:40; Jas 3:18)34Eure Frauen sollen in den Gemeinden schweigen; denn es ist ihnen nicht gestattet zu reden, sondern sie sollen sich unterordnen, wie es auch das Gesetz sagt. (Ge 3:16; Eph 5:22; 1Ti 2:11; 1Pe 3:1)35Wenn sie aber etwas lernen wollen, so sollen sie daheim ihre eigenen Männer fragen; denn es ist für Frauen schändlich, in der Gemeinde zu reden.36Oder ist von euch das Wort Gottes ausgegangen? Oder ist es zu euch allein gekommen? (Isa 2:3; Isa 51:4; Ac 6:6; Ac 12:24; Ac 19:20)37Wenn jemand glaubt, ein Prophet zu sein oder geistlich, der erkenne, dass die Dinge, die ich euch schreibe, Gebote des Herrn sind. (Joh 7:17; 2Co 10:7; 1Jo 4:6)38Wenn es aber jemand missachten will, der missachte es! (1Co 11:16)39Also, ihr Brüder, strebt danach, zu weissagen, und das Reden in Sprachen verhindert nicht.
