2.Mose 19

Hoffnung für alle



1 Genau am 1. Tag des 3. Monats nachdem die Israeliten Ägypten verlassen hatten, erreichten sie die Wüste Sinai. 2 Sie waren von Refidim aufgebrochen und schlugen nun in der Wüste, am Fuß des Berges Sinai, ihr Lager auf. 3 Mose bestieg den Berg, um Gott zu begegnen. Der HERR rief ihm vom Berg aus zu: »Richte den Israeliten, den Nachkommen von Jakob, diese Botschaft von mir aus: 4 Ihr habt selbst gesehen, was ich mit den Ägyptern gemacht habe. Ich habe euch sicher hierher zu mir gebracht, wie ein Adler, der seine Jungen trägt. 5 Wenn ihr nun auf mich hört und euch an den Bund haltet, den ich mit euch schließen will, dann werdet ihr mir mehr bedeuten als alle anderen Völker. Mir gehört die ganze Welt, aber ihr seid in besonderer Weise mein Eigentum. 6 Ja, ihr sollt ein heiliges Volk sein, das allein mir gehört. Als königliche Priester sollt ihr mir dienen![1] Sag dies den Israeliten weiter!« 7 Mose ging zurück, rief die Sippenoberhäupter des Volkes zusammen und erzählte ihnen, was der HERR ihm aufgetragen hatte. 8 Das ganze Volk Israel war sich einig: »Wir wollen alles tun, was der HERR befiehlt!« Mose überbrachte ihre Entscheidung dem HERRN. 9 Nachdem er berichtet hatte, was die Israeliten geantwortet hatten, sagte der HERR zu Mose: »Ich werde in einer dichten Wolke zu dir kommen und so mit dir sprechen, dass auch das Volk es hört. Es soll nie wieder einen Zweifel geben, dass du in meinem Auftrag redest. 10 Geh nun wieder zurück! Die Israeliten sollen sich heute und morgen darauf vorbereiten, mir zu begegnen. Sie sollen ihre Kleider waschen 11 und sich am dritten Tag bereithalten. Denn an diesem Tag werde ich vor aller Augen auf den Berg Sinai herabkommen. 12 Zieh eine Grenze rings um den Berg, und warne die Leute davor, sie zu überschreiten! Sie dürfen ihn nicht besteigen und sich auch nicht am Fuß des Berges aufhalten. Wer dem Berg zu nahe kommt, muss sterben: 13 Er soll gesteinigt oder mit Pfeilen erschossen werden. Das Gleiche gilt für die Tiere, sie dürfen nicht am Leben bleiben! Erst wenn das Widderhorn lang anhaltend ertönt, dürfen die Israeliten auf den Berg kommen.« 14 Wieder stieg Mose vom Berg herunter; er sorgte dafür, dass die Leute ihre Kleider wuschen und sich darauf vorbereiteten, Gott zu begegnen. 15 »Haltet euch am dritten Tag bereit«, befahl er ihnen, »und so lange soll niemand von euch mit seiner Frau schlafen!« 



16 Früh am Morgen des dritten Tages begann es, zu donnern und zu blitzen. Eine dichte Wolke umhüllte den Berg, und man hörte den lauten Klang eines Widderhorns. Die Israeliten im Lager zitterten vor Angst. 17 Mose führte sie aus dem Lager, Gott entgegen, und sie stellten sich am Fuß des Berges auf. 18 Der Berg Sinai war in dichten Rauch gehüllt, denn der HERR war im Feuer herabgekommen. Rauch stieg auf wie aus einem Schmelzofen, und der ganze Berg bebte. 19 Das Horn ertönte immer lauter. Mose redete, und Gott antwortete ihm mit lauter Stimme. 20 So kam der HERR herab auf den Gipfel des Berges Sinai. Von dort rief er Mose zu sich, und Mose stieg auf den Berg. 21 Doch der HERR befahl ihm: »Geh sofort wieder hinunter und schärfe dem Volk ein, sie sollen ja nicht die Grenze überschreiten, um mich zu sehen! Wenn sie es trotzdem tun, werden viele von ihnen sterben. 22 Auch die Priester sollen sich reinigen, bevor sie sich mir nähern, sonst ist ihr Leben in Gefahr!« 23 Mose erwiderte: »Das Volk kann gar nicht auf den Berg Sinai steigen. Du hast uns ja schon gewarnt und befohlen, eine Grenze um den Berg zu ziehen, weil er heilig ist.« 24 Doch der HERR befahl: »Steig trotzdem hinunter und komm zusammen mit Aaron wieder herauf. Die Priester und das Volk dürfen die Grenze nicht überschreiten, sonst bricht mein Zorn gegen sie los!« 25 Da stieg Mose vom Berg hinunter und erklärte dem Volk, was Gott gesagt hatte.

1 On the third new moon after the people of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that day they came into the wilderness of Sinai. (4Mo 33,15) 2 They set out from Rephidim and came into the wilderness of Sinai, and they encamped in the wilderness. There Israel encamped before the mountain, (2Mo 3,1; 2Mo 17,1; 2Mo 17,8) 3 while Moses went up to God. The Lord called to him out of the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the people of Israel: (2Mo 3,4; 2Mo 20,21; Apg 7,38) 4 ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. (5Mo 29,2; 5Mo 32,11; Jes 63,9; Offb 12,14) 5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine; (2Mo 9,29; 5Mo 7,6; 5Mo 10,14; 5Mo 14,2; 5Mo 26,18; Hi 41,11; Ps 24,1; Ps 50,12; Ps 135,4; Mal 3,17; 1Kor 10,26; Tit 2,14) 6 and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel.” (3Mo 20,26; 5Mo 7,6; 5Mo 14,21; 5Mo 26,19; 5Mo 28,9; Jes 62,12; 1Petr 2,5; 1Petr 2,9; Offb 1,6; Offb 5,10; Offb 20,6) 7 So Moses came and called the elders of the people and set before them all these words that the Lord had commanded him. 8 All the people answered together and said, “All that the Lord has spoken we will do.” And Moses reported the words of the people to the Lord. (2Mo 24,3; 2Mo 24,7; 5Mo 5,27; 5Mo 26,17) 9 And the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I am coming to you in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and may also believe you forever.” When Moses told the words of the people to the Lord, (2Mo 14,31; 2Mo 20,21; 2Mo 24,16; 5Mo 4,11; 5Mo 4,12; 5Mo 4,36; Ps 18,11; Ps 97,2; Mt 17,5; Joh 12,28) 10 the Lord said to Moses, “Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments (1Mo 35,2; 3Mo 11,44; 3Mo 15,5; Jos 3,5) 11 and be ready for the third day. For on the third day the Lord will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people. (2Mo 34,5; 5Mo 33,2) 12 And you shall set limits for the people all around, saying, ‘Take care not to go up into the mountain or touch the edge of it. Whoever touches the mountain shall be put to death. (Hebr 12,20) 13 No hand shall touch him, but he shall be stoned or shot;[1] whether beast or man, he shall not live.’ When the trumpet sounds a long blast, they shall come up to the mountain.” (2Mo 19,16; 2Mo 19,19) 14 So Moses went down from the mountain to the people and consecrated the people; and they washed their garments. (2Mo 19,3; 2Mo 19,10) 15 And he said to the people, “Be ready for the third day; do not go near a woman.” (2Mo 19,11; 1Sam 21,4; 1Kor 7,5) 16 On the morning of the third day there were thunders and lightnings and a thick cloud on the mountain and a very loud trumpet blast, so that all the people in the camp trembled. (2Mo 19,9; 2Mo 19,13; 2Mo 19,15; Ps 77,18; Hebr 12,18; Hebr 12,21; Offb 4,5; Offb 8,5; Offb 11,19) 17 Then Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God, and they took their stand at the foot of the mountain. (5Mo 4,10) 18 Now Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke because the Lord had descended on it in fire. The smoke of it went up like the smoke of a kiln, and the whole mountain trembled greatly. (2Mo 24,17; Ri 5,5; Ps 68,8; Ps 144,5; Jes 6,4; Hebr 12,26; Offb 15,8) 19 And as the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him in thunder. (2Mo 19,16; Neh 9,13; Ps 81,7) 20 The Lord came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. And the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up. 21 And the Lord said to Moses, “Go down and warn the people, lest they break through to the Lord to look and many of them perish. (2Mo 3,6; 1Sam 6,19) 22 Also let the priests who come near to the Lord consecrate themselves, lest the Lord break out against them.” (3Mo 10,3; 2Sam 6,8; 1Chr 13,11) 23 And Moses said to the Lord, “The people cannot come up to Mount Sinai, for you yourself warned us, saying, ‘Set limits around the mountain and consecrate it.’” (2Mo 19,12; Jos 3,4) 24 And the Lord said to him, “Go down, and come up bringing Aaron with you. But do not let the priests and the people break through to come up to the Lord, lest he break out against them.” (2Sam 6,8; 1Chr 13,11) 25 So Moses went down to the people and told them.
