DER SCHLUSS DES BRIEFES

Die Sammlung für Jerusalem

1 Was die Geldsammlung für die Heiligen angeht, sollt auch ihr euch an das halten, was ich für die Gemeinden Galatiens angeordnet habe. (Apg 11,29; Röm 15,26; 2Kor 8,3; 2Kor 9,1; Gal 2,10)

2 Jeder soll immer am ersten Tag der Woche etwas zurücklegen und so zusammensparen, was er kann. Dann sind keine Sammlungen mehr nötig, wenn ich komme. (Apg 20,7) 3 Nach meiner Ankunft werde ich eure Vertrauensleute mit Briefen nach Jerusalem schicken, damit sie eure Liebesgabe überbringen. (2Kor 8,17) 4 Ist es der Mühe wert, dass ich selbst hinreise, dann sollen sie mit mir reisen.

Die Pläne des Apostels

5 Ich werde zu euch kommen, wenn ich durch Mazedonien gereist bin. In Mazedonien will ich nämlich nicht bleiben, (Apg 19,21; Apg 20,2; 2Kor 1,16)

6 aber, wenn es möglich ist, bei euch, vielleicht sogar den ganzen Winter. Wenn ich dann weiterreise, könnt ihr mich für die Weiterreise ausrüsten. 7 Ich möchte euch diesmal nicht nur auf der Durchreise sehen; ich hoffe, einige Zeit bei euch bleiben zu können, wenn der Herr es zulässt. 8 In Ephesus will ich bis Pfingsten bleiben. (Apg 19,1) 9 Denn weit und wirksam ist mir hier eine Tür geöffnet worden; doch auch an Gegnern fehlt es nicht. (Apg 14,27; Apg 19,2) 10 Wenn Timotheus kommt, achtet darauf, dass ihr ihn nicht entmutigt; denn er arbeitet im Dienst des Herrn wie ich. (1Kor 4,17; Phil 2,19) 11 Keiner soll ihn gering schätzen. Verabschiedet ihn dann in Frieden, damit er zu mir zurückkehrt; ich warte auf ihn mit den Brüdern. (1Tim 4,12) 12 Was den Bruder Apollos angeht, so habe ich ihn dringend gebeten, er möge mit den Brüdern zu euch reisen, aber er wollte auf keinen Fall jetzt kommen. Er wird aber kommen, wenn er eine günstige Gelegenheit findet. (1Kor 1,12; 1Kor 3,5)

14 Alles, was ihr tut, geschehe in Liebe. (Kol 3,14) 15 Ich habe noch eine Bitte, Brüder und Schwestern. Ihr kennt das Haus des Stephanas: Sie sind die erste Frucht Achaias und haben sich in den Dienst für die Heiligen gestellt. (1Kor 1,16) 16 Solchen ordnet euch unter, ebenso jedem, der mitarbeitet und sich abmüht! 17 Es freut mich, dass Stephanas, Fortunatus und Achaikus zu mir gekommen sind; sie sind mir ein Ersatz für euch, da ihr nicht hier sein könnt. 18 Sie haben meinen und euren Geist erquickt. Erweist ihnen Anerkennung! (1Thess 5,12) 19 Es grüßen euch die Gemeinden in der Provinz Asien. Aquila und Prisca und ihre Hausgemeinde senden euch viele Grüße im Herrn. The collection for the Lord’s people

1 Now about the collection for the Lord’s people: do what I told the Galatian churches to do. 2 On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made. 3 Then, when I arrive, I will give letters of introduction to the men you approve and send them with your gift to Jerusalem. 4 If it seems advisable for me to go also, they will accompany me.

5 After I go through Macedonia, I will come to you – for I will be going through Macedonia. 6 Perhaps I will stay with you for a while, or even spend the winter, so that you can help me on my journey, wherever I go. 7 For I do not want to see you now and make only a passing visit; I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits. 8 But I will stay on at Ephesus until Pentecost, 9 because a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me. 10 When Timothy comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you, for he is carrying on the work of the Lord, just as I am. 11 No-one, then, should treat him with contempt. Send him on his way in peace so that he may return to me. I am expecting him along with the brothers. 12 Now about our brother Apollos: I strongly urged him to go to you with the brothers. He was quite unwilling to go now, but he will go when he has the opportunity. 13 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. 14 Do everything in love. 15 You know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the Lord’s people. I urge you, brothers and sisters, 16 to submit to such people and to everyone who joins in the work and labours at it. 17 I was glad when Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus arrived, because they have supplied what was lacking from you. 18 For they refreshed my spirit and yours also. Such men deserve recognition.

19 The churches in the province of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Priscilla^[1] greet you warmly in the Lord, and so does the church that meets at their house. 20 All the brothers and sisters here send you greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss. 21 I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand. 22 If anyone does not love the Lord, let that person be cursed!
