DIE RICHTERIN DEBORA UND BARAK

Deboras und Baraks Kampf gegen Sisera

1 Die Israeliten taten wieder, was in den Augen des HERRN böse ist, nachdem Ehud gestorben war. 2 Der HERR lieferte sie aus in die Hand Jabins, des Königs von Kanaan, der in Hazor herrschte. Sein Heerführer war Sisera; der wohnte in Haroschet-Gojim. (Jos 11,1) 3 Da schrien die Israeliten zum HERRN; denn Sisera besaß neunhundert eiserne Kampfwagen und hatte die Israeliten zwanzig Jahre lang grausam unterdrückt. 4 Damals war Debora, eine Prophetin, die Frau des Lappidot, Richterin in Israel. 5 Sie hatte ihren Sitz unter der Debora-Palme zwischen Rama und Bet-El im Gebirge Efraim und die Israeliten kamen zu ihr hinauf, um sich Recht sprechen zu lassen. (1Mo 35,8) 6 Sie sandte hin, rief Barak, den Sohn Abinoams aus Kedesch-Naftali, herbei und sagte zu ihm: Befiehlt der HERR, der Gott Israels, nicht: Geh hin, zieh auf den Berg Tabor und nimm zehntausend Mann von den Naftalitern und den Sebulonitern mit dir? 7 Ich werde Sisera, den Heerführer Jabins, mit seinen Wagen und seiner Streitmacht zu dir an den Bach Kischon lenken und ihn in deine Hand geben. 8 Barak sagte zu ihr: Wenn du mit mir gehst, werde ich gehen; wenn du aber nicht mit mir gehst, werde ich nicht gehen. 9 Sie sagte: Ja, ich gehe mit dir; aber der Ruhm wird auf dem Weg, den du gehen wirst, dann nicht dir zuteil, sondern in die Hand einer Frau wird der HERR Sisera ausliefern. Und Debora machte sich auf und ging zusammen mit Barak nach Kedesch. 10 Barak rief Sebulon und Naftali in Kedesch zusammen und zehntausend Mann folgten ihm auf den Tabor hinauf. Auch Debora ging mit ihm. 11 Der Keniter Heber lebte getrennt von Kain, von den Söhnen Hobabs, des Schwiegervaters des Mose. Er schlug sein Zelt an der Terebinthe von Zaanannim bei Kedesch auf. (Ri 1,16) 12 Als man nun Sisera meldete, dass Barak, der Sohn Abinoams, auf den Berg Tabor gezogen sei, 13 beorderte Sisera alle seine Wagen - neunhundert eiserne Kampfwagen - und das ganze Kriegsvolk, das er bei sich hatte, von Haroschet-Gojim an den Bach Kischon. 14 Da sagte Debora zu Barak: Auf! Denn das ist der Tag, an dem der HERR den Sisera in deine Hand gegeben hat. Ist nicht der HERR vor dir her ausgezogen? Barak zog also vom Berg Tabor herab, zehntausend Mann hinter sich. 15 Und der HERR brachte Sisera, alle seine Wagen und seine ganze Streitmacht mit scharfem Schwert vor Barak in große Verwirrung. 16 Barak verfolgte die Wagen und das Heer bis nach Haroschet-Gojim. Das ganze Heer Siseras fiel unter dem scharfen Schwert; nicht ein einziger Mann blieb übrig.

17 Sisera war zu Fuß zum Zelt der Jaël, der Frau des Keniters Heber, geflohen; denn zwischen Jabin, dem König von Hazor, und der Familie des Keniters Heber herrschte Frieden. 18 Jaël trat heraus, Sisera entgegen, und sagte zu ihm: Kehr ein, Herr, kehr ein bei mir, hab keine Angst! Da kehrte er ein bei ihr im Zelt und sie deckte ihn mit einem Teppich zu. 19 Er sagte zu ihr: Gib mir doch etwas Wasser zu trinken, ich habe Durst. Sie öffnete einen Schlauch mit Milch und gab ihm zu trinken; dann deckte sie ihn wieder zu. (Ri 5,25) 20 Er sagte zu ihr: Stell dich an den Zelteingang, und wenn einer kommt und dich fragt: Ist jemand hier?, dann antworte: Nein. 21 Doch Jaël, die Frau Hebers, holte einen Zeltpflock, nahm einen Hammer in die Hand, ging leise zu Sisera hin und schlug ihm den Zeltpflock durch die Schläfe, sodass er noch in den Boden drang, während er erschöpft in tiefem Schlaf lag. So fand Sisera den Tod. 22 Siehe, Barak, der Sisera nachjagte! Jaël trat heraus, ihm entgegen, und sagte zu ihm: Komm, ich zeige dir den Mann, den du suchst. Er ging mit ihr hinein; siehe, Sisera lag tot, den Pflock in seiner Schläfe. 23 So demütigte Gott an diesem Tag Jabin, den König von Kanaan, vor den Israeliten 24 und die Hand der Israeliten lag immer schwerer auf Jabin, dem König von Kanaan, bis sie Jabin, den König von Kanaan, ganz vernichtet hatten.

1 And the people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord after Ehud died. (Ri 2,19) 2 And the Lord sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor. 3 Then the people of Israel cried out to the Lord for help, for he had 900 chariots of iron and he oppressed the people of Israel cruelly for twenty years. (Ri 1,19; Ri 3,9; Ri 4,13) 4 Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel at that time. 5 She used to sit under the palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the people of Israel came up to her for judgment. (Jos 24,33) 6 She sent and summoned Barak the son of Abinoam from Kedesh-naphtali and said to him, “Has not the Lord, the God of Israel, commanded you, ‘Go, gather your men at Mount Tabor, taking 10,000 from the people of Naphtali and the people of Zebulun. 8 Barak said to her, “If you will go with me, I will go, but if you will not go with me, I will not go.” 9 And she said, “I will surely go with you. Nevertheless, the road on which you are going will not lead to your glory, for the Lord will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman.” Then Deborah arose and went with Barak to Kedesh. (Ri 2,14) 10 And Barak called out Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh. And 10,000 men went up at his heels, and Deborah went up with him. (Ri 5,18) 11 Now Heber the Kenite had separated from the Kenites, the descendants of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his tent as far away as the oak in Zaanannim, which is near Kedesh. (4Mo 10,29; Jos 19,33; Ri 1,16) 12 When Sisera was told that Barak the son of Abinoam had gone up to Mount Tabor, 13 Sisera called out all his chariots, 900 chariots of iron, and all the men who were with him, from Harosheth-hagoyim to the river Kishon. (Ri 4,3) 14 And Deborah said to Barak, “Up! For this is the day in which the Lord has given Sisera into your hand. 15 And the Lord routed Sisera and all his chariots and all his army before Barak by the edge of the sword. And Sisera got down from his chariot and fled away on foot. (Jos 10,10; Ri 4,23; Ps 83,9) 16 And Barak pursued the chariots and the army to Harosheth-hagoyim, and all the army of Sisera fell by the edge of the sword; not a man was left. 17 But Sisera fled away on foot to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite. 18 And Jael came out to meet Sisera and said to him, “Turn aside, my lord; turn aside to me; do not be afraid.” So he turned aside to her into the tent, and she covered him with a rug. 19 And he said to her, “Please give me a little water to drink, for I am thirsty.” So she opened a skin of milk and gave him a drink and covered him. (Ri 5,25) 20 And he said to her, “Stand at the opening of the tent, and if any man comes and asks you, ‘Is anyone here?’ say, ‘No.’” 21 But Jael the wife of Heber took a tent peg, and took a hammer in her hand. Then she went softly to him and drove the peg into his temple until it went down into the ground while he was lying fast asleep from weariness. So he died. 22 And behold, as Barak was pursuing Sisera, Jael went out to meet him and said to him, “Come, and I will show you the man whom you are seeking.” So he went in to her tent, and there lay Sisera dead, with the tent peg in his temple. 23 So on that day God subdued Jabin the king of Canaan before the people of Israel. (Ri 4,15) 24 And the hand of the people of Israel pressed harder and harder against Jabin the king of Canaan, until they destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.
