1 Israel brach auf mit allem, was ihm gehörte. Er kam nach Beerscheba und brachte dem Gott seines Vaters Isaak Schlachtopfer dar. 2 Da sprach Gott in einer nächtlichen Vision zu Israel: Jakob! Jakob! Er antwortete: Hier bin ich! 3 Gott sprach: Ich bin Gott, der Gott deines Vaters. Fürchte dich nicht, nach Ägypten hinabzuziehen; denn zu einem großen Volk mache ich dich dort. 4 Ich selbst ziehe mit dir hinunter nach Ägypten und ich führe dich auch selbst wieder herauf. Josef wird dir die Augen zudrücken. 5 Jakob brach von Beerscheba auf. Die Söhne Israels hoben ihren Vater Jakob, ihre Kinder und ihre Frauen auf die Wagen, die der Pharao geschickt hatte, um ihn zu holen. 6 Sie nahmen ihr Vieh und ihre Habe, die sie im Land Kanaan erworben hatten, und gelangten nach Ägypten, Jakob und mit ihm alle seine Nachkommen. 7 Seine Söhne und Enkel, seine Töchter und Enkelinnen, alle seine Nachkommen brachte er mit nach Ägypten. 8 Das sind die Namen der Söhne Israels, die nach Ägypten kamen, Jakob und seine Söhne: der Erstgeborene Jakobs, Ruben; 9 die Söhne Rubens: Henoch, Pallu, Hezron und Karmi; 10 die Söhne Simeons: Jemuël, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar und Schaul, der Sohn der Kanaaniterin; 11 die Söhne Levis: Gerschon, Kehat und Merari; 12 die Söhne Judas: Er, Onan, Schela, Perez und Serach; Er und Onan waren aber in Kanaan gestorben; die Söhne des Perez waren Hezron und Hamul; 13 die Söhne Issachars: Tola, Puwa, Job und Schimron; 14 die Söhne Sebulons: Sered, Elon und Jachleel. 15 Das waren die Söhne Leas, die sie Jakob in Paddan-Aram geboren hatte, dazu seine Tochter Dina, an Söhnen und Töchtern insgesamt dreiunddreißig Personen. 16 Die Söhne Gads: Zifjon, Haggi, Schuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arod und Areli; 17 die Söhne Aschers: Jimna, Jischwa, Jischwi und Beria, dazu ihre Schwester Serach; die Söhne Berias: Heber und Malkiël. 18 Das waren die Söhne Silpas, die Laban seiner Tochter Lea mitgegeben hatte; sie alle hatte sie Jakob geboren, sechzehn Personen. 19 Die Söhne Rahels, der Frau Jakobs: Josef und Benjamin. 20 Josef hatte in Ägypten Kinder erhalten, die ihm Asenat, die Tochter Potiferas, des Priesters von On, geboren hatte: Manasse und Efraim. 21 Die Söhne Benjamins: Bela, Becher, Aschbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosch, Muppim, Huppim und Ard. 22 Das waren die Söhne Rahels, die Jakob geboren worden waren, insgesamt vierzehn Personen. 23 Die Söhne Dans: Huschim.[1] 24 Die Söhne Naftalis: Jachzeel, Guni, Jezer und Schillem. 25 Das waren die Söhne Bilhas, die Laban seiner Tochter Rahel mitgegeben hatte. Sie alle hatte Bilha Jakob geboren, insgesamt sieben Personen. 26 Die Gesamtzahl der Personen, die mit Jakob nach Ägypten gekommen und aus seiner Lende hervorgegangen waren, betrug ohne die Frauen der Söhne Jakobs insgesamt sechsundsechzig Personen. 27 Dazu kommen die Söhne Josefs, die ihm in Ägypten geboren worden waren, zwei Personen. Insgesamt waren vom Haus Jakob siebzig Personen nach Ägypten gekommen. 28 Jakob schickte Juda voraus zu Josef, damit er ihm den Weg nach Goschen weise. So kamen sie ins Land Goschen. 29 Josef ließ seinen Wagen anspannen und zog seinem Vater Israel nach Goschen entgegen. Als er ihn sah, fiel er ihm um den Hals und weinte lange. 30 Israel sagte zu Josef: Jetzt will ich gern sterben, nachdem ich dein Angesicht wieder gesehen habe. Du bist ja noch am Leben. 31 Josef sagte dann zu seinen Brüdern und zum ganzen Haus seines Vaters: Ich will hinaufgehen, den Pharao benachrichtigen und ihm sagen: Meine Brüder und alle vom Haus meines Vaters, die im Land Kanaan waren, sind zu mir gekommen. 32 Die Männer sind Schafhirten, ja, Viehzüchter sind sie. Ihre Schafe, Ziegen und Rinder und alles, was ihnen gehört, haben sie mitgebracht. 33 Wenn euch der Pharao rufen lässt und fragt, was eure Arbeit ist, 34 dann sagt: Deine Knechte sind von Jugend an bis jetzt Viehzüchter gewesen, wir waren es und unsere Väter waren es auch schon. Dann werdet ihr euch in Goschen niederlassen dürfen; denn den Ägyptern sind alle Schafhirten ein Gräuel.

1 So Israel took his journey with all that he had and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac. (1Mo 21,31; 1Mo 21,33; 1Mo 26,24; 1Mo 26,33; 1Mo 28,10; 1Mo 28,13; 1Mo 31,42) 2 And God spoke to Israel in visions of the night and said, “Jacob, Jacob.” And he said, “Here I am.” (1Mo 15,1; Hi 33,14) 3 Then he said, “I am God, the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make you into a great nation. (1Mo 12,2; 1Mo 28,13; 1Mo 35,11; 2Mo 1,7; 2Mo 1,9; 5Mo 26,5) 4 I myself will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also bring you up again, and Joseph’s hand shall close your eyes.” (1Mo 15,16; 1Mo 28,15; 1Mo 48,21; 1Mo 50,1; 1Mo 50,24; 2Mo 3,8) 5 Then Jacob set out from Beersheba. The sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons that Pharaoh had sent to carry him. (1Mo 45,19; 1Mo 45,21; 1Mo 45,27) 6 They also took their livestock and their goods, which they had gained in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt, Jacob and all his offspring with him, (Jos 24,4; Ps 105,23; Jes 52,4; Apg 7,14) 7 his sons, and his sons’ sons with him, his daughters, and his sons’ daughters. All his offspring he brought with him into Egypt. 8 Now these are the names of the descendants of Israel, who came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons. Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn, (2Mo 1,1; 2Mo 6,14; 4Mo 26,5; 1Chr 5,1) 9 and the sons of Reuben: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi. 10 The sons of Simeon: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul, the son of a Canaanite woman. 11 The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. (1Chr 6,1) 12 The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah (but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan); and the sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul. (1Mo 38,3; 1Mo 38,7; 1Mo 38,10; 1Mo 38,29; 1Chr 2,3; 1Chr 2,5; 1Chr 4,21) 13 The sons of Issachar: Tola, Puvah, Yob, and Shimron. (1Chr 7,1) 14 The sons of Zebulun: Sered, Elon, and Jahleel. 15 These are the sons of Leah, whom she bore to Jacob in Paddan-aram, together with his daughter Dinah; altogether his sons and his daughters numbered thirty-three. (1Mo 29,32; 1Mo 30,1) 16 The sons of Gad: Ziphion, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi, and Areli. 17 The sons of Asher: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, Beriah, with Serah their sister. And the sons of Beriah: Heber and Malchiel. (1Chr 7,30) 18 These are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter; and these she bore to Jacob—sixteen persons. (1Mo 29,24; 1Mo 30,10) 19 The sons of Rachel, Jacob’s wife: Joseph and Benjamin. 20 And to Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera the priest of On, bore to him. (1Mo 41,45; 1Mo 41,50) 21 And the sons of Benjamin: Bela, Becher, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard. (4Mo 26,38; 1Chr 7,6; 1Chr 8,1) 22 These are the sons of Rachel, who were born to Jacob—fourteen persons in all. 23 The son[1] of Dan: Hushim. 24 The sons of Naphtali: Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem. (1Chr 7,13) 25 These are the sons of Bilhah, whom Laban gave to Rachel his daughter, and these she bore to Jacob—seven persons in all. (1Mo 29,29; 1Mo 30,5) 26 All the persons belonging to Jacob who came into Egypt, who were his own descendants, not including Jacob’s sons’ wives, were sixty-six persons in all. 27 And the sons of Joseph, who were born to him in Egypt, were two. All the persons of the house of Jacob who came into Egypt were seventy. (2Mo 1,5; 5Mo 10,22; Apg 7,14) 



28 He had sent Judah ahead of him to Joseph to show the way before him in Goshen, and they came into the land of Goshen. (1Mo 45,10) 29 Then Joseph prepared his chariot and went up to meet Israel his father in Goshen. He presented himself to him and fell on his neck and wept on his neck a good while. (1Mo 45,14) 30 Israel said to Joseph, “Now let me die, since I have seen your face and know that you are still alive.” (Lk 2,29) 31 Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s household, “I will go up and tell Pharaoh and will say to him, ‘My brothers and my father’s household, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me. (1Mo 47,1) 32 And the men are shepherds, for they have been keepers of livestock, and they have brought their flocks and their herds and all that they have.’ (1Mo 47,3) 33 When Pharaoh calls you and says, ‘What is your occupation?’ (1Mo 46,32) 34 you shall say, ‘Your servants have been keepers of livestock from our youth even until now, both we and our fathers,’ in order that you may dwell in the land of Goshen, for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians.” (1Mo 37,12; 1Mo 43,32; 1Mo 46,28; 1Mo 46,32; 2Mo 8,26)
